I just got a YouGov survey which was ALL about the government and its current performance. Would be interesting to see the results.

The government has a current performance?

It’s the local am-dram, understudy matinee. There’s some very fragile but gobby personalities to manage.

There have certainly been plenty of dramas.

What are they doing? Comedy of errors?

😂

They’ve probably got time to do both before they get round to calling an election.

I've seen the original. I don't think this government is that funny.

mibbelucieachwell · 23/08/2023 13:21

More numbers of small boat crossings in the news today. Down on last year . No mention of the unusually bad summer weather we've had.

What a relief that this situation I was so worried about, with no obvious solution, is being sorted out by the government. Even though is isn't and it's a problem largely created by the government

I thought this week was stop the courts week, not stop the boats?

MrTiddlesTheCat · 23/08/2023 13:35

Does anyone know which week will be Stop The Bullshit week?

But that would eat into the water companies profits (some owned by other governments) and we couldn't have that.

First week after the next General Election.

😂😂😂

Notonthestairs · 23/08/2023 16:58

Ah now, no reason to think the current Conservatives will stop bullshitting after the next election.

Whilst they've a voice to use and a Telegraph headline/Mail Op Ed to pursue I've no doubt there will be bullshit aplenty.

BIossomtoes · 23/08/2023 17:14

The bullshit will go into overdrive when they sit on the opposition benches.

RafaistheKingofClay · 23/08/2023 17:26

But there will be much fewer of them to generate bullshit.

BIossomtoes · 23/08/2023 17:28

They’ll just shout louder.

DuncinToffee · 23/08/2023 17:32

Forget local am dram for a bit

https://www.msn.com/en-gb/entertainment/tv/channel-4-nails-casting-of-boris-johnson-in-explosive-partygate-drama/

The star-studded cast of Channel 4’s bold new drama Partygate has finally been announced, including the actor who will voice former Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
From the makers of the Bafta-winning Killed By My Debt, The Left Behind and Murdered By My Father, the real-life drama will follow the numerous gathering which took place in Downing Street during the pandemic.

The vehmency with which they attack each other in the ensuing inquest into what went wrong and job of picking the next leader will be something to behold I am sure.
Almost as enjoyable to look forward to as having a government interested in the people of the UK.

Oh yes.

The minute they are in opposition within 24 hours everything in the country that's gone wrong under them for 14-15 years will be that parties fault.

I reckon for every duck up they make they don't write a comms piece defending themselves. They write a future piece to blame the next government!

IClaudine · 24/08/2023 08:52

Bit late to the new thread but 👋 everyone.

This is where the toxic rhetoric around migrants leads. The Tories know which areas to pick for their projects, don't they? As the article says, when the right move onto another scapegoat, the xenophobia left behind will need to be dealt with. I feel sad that this is happening in my country. We are better than this.
