I've just been listening to an aged edition of The Rest is Politics where they were talking about this in relation to Truss and Kwarteng, who had similar ideas. That ended well, of course.
They were also talking about the problem the Tories have, namely that their followers love to support capitalist initiatives like fracking and more building until it turns up next door to them. Benefit cuts obviously don't come within the same categories, but it will not go down well in the Red Wall constituencies, nor will their core vote be so impressed when their relatives disability benefits get cut, or they have to pay yet more towards care home placements.
