It was Lemons it is not exactly near, took 75 minutes to drive there. But we were meeting family. It’s a gorgeous 1920s set up, and despite the lovely weather today, not at all busy.

bizzey · 07/08/2023 21:16

I am recovering from an exhausting weekend and lead up to it !

My lovely mother's birthday...

Ohh I don't want a fuss...
Ohh it doesn't matter about my birthday..

Bizzey ..will you and the boys come up...

Ohh we had better ask "x"

Bizzey will you do a bit of food ....

Bizzey ....I have had to ask " y" now ..

We need more food...

Her no fuss get together turned into a full on 20 plus gathering for all age groups ...which I had to put my culinary skills to...which I have said before on this thread ....are not good !;😂

But apparently...no one can do a buffet like bizzey !!

(Poss cos no cooking is involved!
Just making table look nice !)

Though I do make my own pasta salad and salad dressing and other bits !

This wonderful lady would never let a birthday go bye without a fuss !
EVER 😂😂!

First time ever though In the 35 years in this house with a garden ...
we had to have it indoors !

My regal mama will have to have another little party when the weather picks up ...🤞🤞!

IWanderedLonely · 07/08/2023 22:24

Havoc it is by the Cornish Seaweed company, and I was really pleased withit ( once I'd worked out which way to turn the pump top without my reading glasses on).
Took grandchildren to the park today and collided with 1 Dgd whilst getting her off a piece of equipment, small cut to my face and broken sunglasses. DH has glued them, if that doesn't work it'll have to be the Jack Duckworth sellotape Grin
Hadto work this evening and now too alert to go to sleep.

halfpasteleven · 07/08/2023 22:33

There's a few of us accident prone on here so!
I banged my head on the corner of the press (that I had just opened) yesterday morning.
Turns out there's a cut on it and it's painful to lie on it, brush, wash my hair etc..

bizzey · 07/08/2023 23:24

Accident prone you say..

A few years ago I cleared out the shed to put the wheelchair in it that I didn't need anymore...

Had bags in kitchen with long handles ready for charity...

Rushed into kitchen...tripped over bag handle....
Fractured knee cap!

Back into said wheelchair!!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 08/08/2023 00:28

Iwandered, thanks fir the i fo. I checked out their site. Some very interesting products I would love to try. 😀

Took advantage of Havoc napping and cleaned and re-organized the storage room.

About 30 odd boxes. 🤦‍♀️
Moved the shelving units around; combined 2 boxes into 1; and now have got two cardboard boxes and a bag of styrofoam for recycling. If only I was willing to deal with boxes of books and papers...I did manage to box some electronics and glass for recycling, though. 😁😁😁

bizzey · 08/08/2023 01:05

Need to sleep...regal mama has 3 appointments I have to take her to tomorrow!!

(Pub will be involved afterwards for lunch !!l 😄😄)

Yes I stupidly booked all 3 really early !!

TodaysTheShay · 08/08/2023 16:17

The gardener came and cut the ivy today, apparently it's too wet to cut the grass though. #fascinating

Silkierabbit · 08/08/2023 20:30

DH went to France yesterday for his Mum's 90th birthday. Long day 5 hours on train each way. She had initially said do nothing for my birthday as I am celebrating in September instead then DH had change your plans and see me now as well. So DH, her sister and a friend went and big party still in September.

I have just booked a trip to Mauritius for DD and I for a few weeks time in lovely hotels with lots of watersports included, Sugar Beach and Long Beach hotels, we swap half way through. DD is 17 so not sure how many more holidays there will be. I wish DS and DH would come but DS still won't leave house and DH said for us to go. DH seems to be quite looking forward to the week anyway. I am so glad to be getting away.

Having pasta with blue cheese and brocolli for dinner.

Silkierabbit · 08/08/2023 20:31

Floof is acting like a king for International cat day.

Silkie, trip sounds like it will be amazing! 😎

Made lamb chops with polenta last night. Marinated chops in evoo, a garlic clove, fresh mint and bit of salt for a couple hours then pan-fried. Deglazed pan with a bit of water and butter, added chopped green onion, reduced then spooned over chops. Basic polenta: 3:1 water:corn meal, finish with generous heavy cream, grated pecorino then drizzled melted butter with chives over top. Costco lemon cake for dessert. Left-overs tonight.

Lemonsandlemonade · 08/08/2023 21:10

Silkie your trip sounds amazing. In years to come I’m sure your DD will have such great memories from it,

Havoc that is my kind of meal.

DS going to DM for a bit tomorrow so I can tidy and clean before holidays.

HelenaJustina · 08/08/2023 21:22

That sounds amazing Silkie what an amazing mother daughter trip.

Havoc you sound like you’ve been amazingly productive!

I’ve been to visit an elderly relative today, it involved 6hrs of driving but I’m so glad I went.

Silkierabbit · 09/08/2023 00:20

Thanks very much Havoc, Lemons and Helena DD and I are both very excited about it. DD said I am like a teenager booking things so last minute!

That's a lovely meal as usual from you Havoc

Hope you have a lovely holiday Lemons

Glad you had a good day visiting relative Helena

I have done the insurance though that's always a bit challenging with all the medical things, and been watching videos on Mauritius. Looking up plugs as well. It seems they have similar to European plugs. I reserved seats on the plane both ways and also booked the airport lounge for in Mauritius.

MallardsMoorhensAndLethe · 09/08/2023 03:33

I mainly had s duvet day today. Just felt I needed it.

Me, too. ☺️

Got home today to find someone had kindly emptied the dishwasher, but I hadn't run it this morning before I left for work. There followed twenty minutes of finding items that had been put back in drawers and cupboards and sticking them all back into the dishwasher. I hope I got it all.

I decided last weekend that Dcat's litter box needed replacing, and DD3 ordered one. She and Dcat are very much a mutual admiration society.

The new box arrived today so we removed the old one and set up the new one this evening. It's the same model as the old one and since I have a clear memory of Dcat being completely bamboozled by the flap that the old box originally had a few years ago, and there is nothing to suggest an increase in Dcat's ability to solve simple problems in the intervening years, we removed the flap from the new box too. Dcat has ignored the box so far.

DD3 may well have found somewhere to live for her Masters course. Fingers crossed. She's been looking online for several weeks, sending messages, receiving very few replies, and getting a bit disheartened.

MissConductUS · 09/08/2023 16:48

Math, I hope Dcat has figured out the new litter box. We have a dishwasher but haven't used it in years. DH does the washing up and prefers to do them by hand. When both of the kids were away at uni it wasn't a lot of dishes, but now we're back to a full house for the summer. Fingers crossed for your DD finding a place to live. Since mortgage rates are up so much more people are renting and the rental markets are very tight.

Silkie, I'm sorry you won't be visiting the US, but Mauritius sounds lovely and a shorter flight as well.

DD's car (our car actually, on loan to DD) passed inspection with no problems. They changed the oil and air filter while it was in, so she's all set to take it back to uni. It's held up remarkably well considering that it's a 2012 and has 130k miles on it.

I saw mama Duck this morning. Duckling is with her, hiding in the grass by the shore. I really need to upgrade my iPhone 11 when the new ones come out next month to get a better camera.

Rainy morning here, so just spent 30mins walking up/down stairs and running up/down hallway with Havoc to get heart pumping. Havoc now having some milk, grapes and bagel with PB for a snack. Nap is next. 😅

bizzey · 09/08/2023 20:46

Well I went into the kitchen to get my frozen lasagna out ....that had been in there for 50 mins......
Only to find it on the top of the stove on the baking tray
...I forgot to put it in the oven !🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤣...

I am really hungry now !!

HelenaJustina · 09/08/2023 21:50

Who was the nap for Havoc?! I’ve been super productive today, but have the opticians with 3DC tomorrow which is making me feel stressed already! Two out of the 3 find choosing new glasses very difficult!

IWanderedLonely · 09/08/2023 21:59

Wednesday family tea - as the grandchildren get bigger they eat more. It's like feeding an army!
Taking them out for the day tomorrow so need to get up early to make a ton of sandwiches, I feel like a permanently exhausted and skint chef at the moment.

Silkierabbit · 09/08/2023 22:53

Thanks MissC Mauritius I think is a slightly longer flight at 12 hours but we like flying - infact when we flew to Australia DS asked if you could get holidays that were 2 weeks non-stop flying. 😂

Had ed psych today around 2 hours chatting. Went swimming, sauna, jacuzzi and steam room. Very busy today and only did 68 lengths but good to go.

Watched Below Deck Australia 2 episodes. Really tired as didn't sleep that much last night was about 5am then slept to 11am but ed psych. Annual review on Friday.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 09/08/2023 23:32

Helena, I sure wanted the nap!!! Instead, I packed up and vacuumed a bedroom. Haven't made it to recycling centre yet. Pile is growing! Plan is to wash walls then re-paint before flooring is done. (Note: plan/wishful thinking. We shall see ...). Also plan to switch two bedrooms. Ugh.

MallardsMoorhensAndLethe · 10/08/2023 01:10

bizzey I really felt that with the lasagna. I do things like that all the time

I did gardening today, deadheading and planting out. It's looking lovely.
