Salmon, fresh dill&green onion butter over top; mixed veg; risotto. So happy Havoc is digging in! 😛😛😛

Silkie, I like flying, too. 😀You had a good swim, still! Much better than I could do now.

That looks delicious Havoc 🤗

Silkie, what a fabulous holiday! I’m sure you and DD will have a great time.

DH and I went for lunch with old friends yesterday. We realised that we last went to their house to eat over 20 years ago 🫣 although in fairness they have been to us much more recently. Their lovely, well-kept garden caused me to silently vow to do better on the maintenance front a vow I will inevitably fail to keep and we had a lovely time catching up, eating delicious food and then going for a walk in country fields nearby.

The only downside was a horrible drive home which was one long traffic jam and what should have been about 45 minutes took 2.5 hours 🤯

sproutsandparsnips · 10/08/2023 21:01

Ha Bizzey that sounds like the sort of thing I would do!
Math how annoying! My kids usually leave the dishes on top for me to put in, but sometimes when it's finished they squeeze dirty things in with the clean ones and claim not to have noticed!
Silkie sounds an amazing trip.
Havoc we are about to leave Canada soon having had a day in Banff. I took you up in recommendation for Joe Fortes when we were in Vancouver and we all really enjoyed - portions are massive though! Made a mistake though - we went to Vancouver Art Gallery without properly checking - I should have gone to the fine art gallery - it wasn't our cup of tea at all, quite an expensive mistake!!

Silkierabbit · 10/08/2023 21:05

Glad Havoc junior is eating your wonderful food Havoc DS also loves salmon and will eat is with either brocolli or peas and new potatoes though also like rice but only plain.

Thanks Hilda Lovely to catch up with old friends.

This morning ed psych was in touch saying DS needs to give his views on education and suggested someone he doesn't know could interview him. 🤔This always happens with new people. I'm not sure what part of he's mute they don't get. Then said he needs to go to school in talks with next week when cahms have said no to that. Both sides sure they are right. So then I wasn't too happy at this point and messaged and spoke with cahms who are fine but they said they are going to block a visit. Which I was scared would block an offer. But managed to get hold of START and have a meeting and they are going to make an offer tomorrow for school we want. However they added if he doesn't go in September the LA will withdraw funding and he will have no education again. I said how long will they give him and they said not 2 weeks but more but would not say how long. They will pay for taxi. I am happy with school offer but not happy after a month they could retract it if he is too anxious to go. Cahms think December is realistic though they just picked that date from air. So annual review tomorrow.

Then the kitchen fitters got back with a quote for redoing our kitchen which was rather painful amount but needs doing. Its the same sort of price as a new kitchen but will be remodelling the one we have so new cooker, new sink and taps, fridge being integrated, dishwasher being intergrated, repainted, new worktop, new tiles, doors painted, new lighting, its currently a handmade built in one custom made for this house. These people are good though and it's a complicated job. Not sure when can start but didn't sound like too long, I said outside of house was being done in October and he said before then.

Rabbit and cat had annual vaccines. Vet loves Floof as he's so gentle, not like Silkiecat who all of them had to wear protective gear for.

Silkierabbit · 10/08/2023 21:06

Cross posted Sprouts Thank you and glad you are having a lovely time, it sounds amazing.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 10/08/2023 23:07

Sprouts, art is so subjective- I get it. Glad you enjoyed the resto!!! What did you have? 😋 It sounds like you are on quite a tour! Vancouver to Banff is a lot of ground to cover!
Were you here for the fireworks?

Am in quite deep packing up closets and things as new flooring to be installed. Have got Havoc's room torn apart as decided to paint closet and put up new shelves (lots of unused top space). Was at Home Depot over an hour trying to select basic shelves, brackets, screws etc. Brackets in size I wanted sold out, so spent too much time trying to determine other options. Then mind wandered and I found myself looking at backsplash tiles. Brackets will end up costing more than shelves! Now going to search Amazon for brackets. Plan to paint closet later today and repack bedroom.

Silkierabbit · 10/08/2023 23:23

Just got kitchen start date agreed for later this month and should take 2 weeks. Lots of e-mails on decisions to be made, I was making them superfast, DH is a ditherer and was I can't make a decision though he's happy for me to make them.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 11/08/2023 00:00

Silkie, what did you decide re new oven colour?

Silkierabbit · 11/08/2023 00:02

That's the one thing left to decide though last chat DH had come round to red.

Silkierabbit · 11/08/2023 00:04

We've gone for powder blue for units and walls will be soft white. Sink is the old fashioned white ceramic ones. Its a very old house. Around 500 years old

DelHenney · 11/08/2023 00:13

First day of a month long sabbatical from work… Weather lovely so stacks of washing out in the sunshine. A lovely peaceful day watching it blow in the breeze

Mumtobabyhavoc · 11/08/2023 00:48

Silkie, I like that! I'd like a double oven as well and am partial to a wall mount unit.

I've just ordered shelf brackets off Amazon. Way better price! Should arrive tomorrow.
can't paint until Havoc is asleep... am going to attempt to re-pack, but am doubtful I can do it with toddler running around.

sproutsandparsnips · 11/08/2023 01:13

Havoc I had arctic char and shared cheesecake with DS after. Started with lovely salad of watermelon and tomatoes.
We have done a big tour of a lifetime - Vancouver then Alaska cruise then Rocky mountaineer. My lovely grandmother died in 2021 and left us some money which we have put toward it as DS1 is unlikely to be coming on many more family holidays.
Love the red Silkie
Nothing more satisfying DelHenney!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 11/08/2023 04:37

What an amazing trip!!! 😀😀😀
Dinner sounds so good! 😋😋😋
(Glad the restaurant didn't disappoint. )

Mumtobabyhavoc · 11/08/2023 04:44

Silkie, missed your earlier comment re salmon. It's so versatile, too! (And super healthy). I love new potatoes with salmon. I like to boil them, toss with butter and dill, then serve with sour cream. It's so nice your ds has something he'll eat. (And thank you for the nice complement)😀

Lemonsandlemonade · 11/08/2023 05:55

your Very old house sounds lovely Silkie. I have always found Ed psychs range because some get so stuck with the way things should be done and forget there is a child at the end of it. I hope it was useful for you!

Havoc the salmon dish looks lovely.

m Had a day with DH yesterday Ds went to MIL was lovely to have us time.

HildaTablet · 11/08/2023 07:21

I’ve just bought that exact cooker, Silkie! But in boring black 🫣

MissConductUS · 11/08/2023 11:37

Welcome, @DelHenney, and thanks for sharing your laundry news. A month long sabbatical sounds like heaven! And you already have a headstart on the laundry.

I will be in an all day meeting today offsite. And I have to go into work for most of the day tomorrow for another bloody meeting. We do these annually. I'll sloth work from home Monday as compensation.

I've had a bit of a traumatic hour on a video call with the bank trying to open a bank account for Dd, she's Hfa and quite quiet/shy with strangers....the bank lady was insistent that Dd had to answer every question herself and kept telling her to speak up and answer not nod etc...rediculous questions like is she a USA citizen even though we'd already told them she's British and uploaded her British passport! Anyway it's finally done now, lots of coffee needed today!

Lemonsandlemonade · 11/08/2023 13:12

Aww no Today that sounds not so fun!

DelHenney · 11/08/2023 13:13

@MissConductUS
Thank you for your welcome❤️ been a long time lurker on this thread… it’s surprisingly restful with no arguments or bitching.
Id had such a nice peaceful day after an amazing sleep so I thought I fitted the remit! 😁

HelenaJustina · 11/08/2023 22:41

3DC and I went to see the Barbie Movie this evening. I loved it… will definitely go again and take DH who was sorry to have missed out on the trip this time around

Silkierabbit · 12/08/2023 00:41

I'm not sure that oven will fit due to our ceiling height as the lid goes up not sure how high it is with lid up but presumably 90 plus 70 or so to top of silver handle and we have 85 plus 61 or 65 to fan. DH has now completely converted to red but the other red one I am having issues with stock availability. DD is horrified by red, said we can't have red without making entire kitchen red. 🤔It needs to be electric. Will look again tomorrow but may go for Rangemaster cream one if can't get hold of Belling red one the Rangemaster has better reviews.

Went swimming and did 103 lengths and sauna and steam room. Jacuzzi was constantly with people who were just jacuzzing as far as I could tell. Pool wasn't too busy. There was a large man who looked a bit like a sumo wrestler in what looked like giant underpants who kept submerging himself in the swimming lane then coming up for air.

Had annual review for schools and then a further meeting with cahms so around 4 hours of meetings today but we have a school for September and a letter to confirm it, school we wanted for GCSEs. But the LA said yesterday could withdraw the place if he doesn't attend in September and put him back to nothing. Argh. Today they said there will be another annual review in December so that would be first way they could do that legally but they are supposed to provide some education. Ed psych was there. There's no integration just full time first day in September. Cahms were 🙄Though at least its a school place and if he attends he will keep it, just not sure how we go from all he's been through to going first day to a completely new school he knows no-one at. It's a lovely caring school with asd base, high achieving mainstream and all the sn parents want it who want mainstream. It does A levels. Cahms will help with a strategy and the Maudsley.

I am completely shattered now.

Sprouts That sounds really amazing.

Today Sorry about your DD. My DS is non-verbal autistic and loads of professional starts off I am going to interview him so he can have his say. 🙄They go try and he covers himself with a blanket then they realise he really is non-verbal.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 12/08/2023 00:57

Just got home from errands and dental appt this afternoon. Had an almond croissant while out and about. 😛Also bought a brioche, baguette, sheep gouda, polish pickles and a few other goodies, including dark choc digestives (McVittie's). So, now sitting with Havoc having a snack.
More painting tonight: finish Havoc's closet and move on to closet in another bedroom.

Helena, another one for the Barbie movie!
I think I've got a bit of fomo! I'm happy to see it's still #1. It's nice that a fun movie is on top for a change.
