Your day sounds frustrating, but your dinner sounds wonderful, Havoc.
MissC - I hope your DH doesn't have covid and will feel better soon.
One of my DCs is in Boston at the moment and reported it has been raining heavily there, not just today but on amd off over the last two weeks.
I was wfh today, and Dcat as usual thought that meant I could be hit up for extra food. She knows how to make a complete nuisance of herself, so after a while I decided to rummage in the can cupboard to see if I could find some tuna, as she had eaten the last of her cat food proper for her second breakfast.
However, the bottom of the can cupboard was coated with some kind of dark, sticky liquid, so I took everything out and identified the culprit as a can of peaches, which was making an ominous fizzing sound. I threw it out and scrubbed the bottom of the cupboard, after taking all the rest of the cans out. Then I fed Dcat, who was fast losing patience with me, kneading my legs, miowing, purring, head-butting me, running toward the food bowl every time I stood up; truly expert mithering.
Before replacing everything, I decided to check the expiry date on each can - whooops!! I ended up with a little more room in the cupboard than there had been before the cull, and took several jars of curry sauce and jam and other stuff like that from what was originally the pasta, dried bean, grain, and rice cupboard but had clearly morphed into a catch-all, and discarded a couple of items that were past their best by dates some by as much as two years. I placed some dried bean and grain canisters from the pasta cupboard on shelves in the kitchen - that little patch now looks more like a scene from Pinterest than my kitchen.
So a big thanks goes out to Dcat. It's a good thing I didn't have much to do today, workwise, just tidying up a few odds and ends.
