This evening I found a lovely thin loose jumper, just perfect for this cooler autumn weather I thought. Half hour later I'm overheating. Ah damn you hormones, I think. Half hour after that I'm scratching like I've got fleas. I don't have fleas but I do have eczema and resolve to not stay in the bath until I'm a shrivelled up prune-like thing tonight like I did last night because it's maybe dried out my skin. An hour later I'm starting to sweat. In autumn. With the heating off. I get suspicious and go searching for a care label in the jumper. Yep, I'm an idiot. Amongst other ingredients, 15% wool and 8% mohair. No wonder I'm on fire. I shall buy some shirts to go underneath to stop the itching and the outfit will join my pile of cold weather winter clothes. Meanwhile I watched the rest of the film in my bra. It's ok, people, I was at home. Nobody got an eyeful, except DP and I don't think he minded 😉

HelenaJustina · 20/09/2023 06:19

It’s tricky at the moment mallard the weather sounds like we should be wrapped up in multiple layers and snuggled in front of roaring fires, but it is tropical air so simultaneously really quite mild!

HildaTablet · 20/09/2023 07:50

Meatballs cooked in a sauce made with tinned tomatoes + spaghetti is a tried and trusted dinner in our house, bizzey!

Silkierabbit · 20/09/2023 15:59

We have osmo oiled the worktop times 3 and will do again tonight. Am discussing tiles with the kitchen guys but hope they can add in these two penguin ones to the tiles. They were pushing metro tiles before but don't like them that much. We have frosted glass to go in cupboard doors. Hoping will be finished tomorrow but not sure it will.

thanks.for the welcome.. the user name is aspirational unfortunately!!

we have 3 cats staying with us for about 24 hours while their house is fumigated fior fleas. they're shut in spare room and the dog is intrigued!

it's still raining...

Can't decide between tofu curry or halloumi burger for dinner

work was miserable today trying to research something specific a d everything seems so vague!!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 20/09/2023 16:33

Just a quick pop-in to say, Hi. 😊
Frantic to get suitcase packing done and put a few large items away for flooring crew. Just arranged for them to start late which will help.

Kitchen is looking great, Silkie! Temp accommodation ready. Made it nice and cozy last night. Will be back on the weekend. No wi-fi where I'll be so will be conserving data to watch apple tv and youtube. 😄
Went down to 12c last night with some rain.
Have electric blankets out -- but, I'll be damned if I'll turn the heat on before October!
(there will be threads about this soon!) 🤣

MallardsMoorhensAndLethe · 20/09/2023 17:18

Beautiful worktopsSilkie.

Won't your house need fumigation next lists?

Happy holidaying Havoc.

I'm trying to sort out the boiler today, the pressure has gone too low.

MissConductUS · 20/09/2023 18:40

Lists, that was very nice of you to host the cats for a day.

Mallards, I just realized that I never answered a question you asked some time ago about the reservoir. It is stocked with trout every spring. An HGV with a huge tank on the back pulls up and dumps them in the reservoir. It's a popular fishing spot, but there is a state permit required.

Silkie, your worktops and cabinets are gorgeous. Our house is painted a very similar color to your lovely cabinets.

It's a lovely fall day here. I'm stuck inside working on budgets for 2024.

Hi all. Just catching up. Very busy at work at the moment. Been asked to do extra training which is good.

DS pushing boundaries at moment.

Love the kitchen so far Silkie.

I do love a crisp and cold autumn day. Miss C it’s rained and rained all day.

Silkierabbit · 20/09/2023 20:17

Good to hear from you Lemons Glad work is going well.

Thanks MissC That's a lovely colour to have a house.

Thanks Havoc and hope all goes well with the flooring.

Thanks mallards hope you got the boiler sorted.

Hope the fleas don't follow Lists

We are just about to have dinner, nothing fancy as without a cooker, and then will try to sort house a bit more for visit tomorrow. DH is doing it with me but has a headache.

Silkierabbit · 20/09/2023 20:18

Our bin day is being altered, this feels so wrong.

IWanderedLonely · 20/09/2023 21:07

Kitchen looking good Silkies, love the door colour. Are metro tiles the rectangular ones? I'm old enough to associate those with public toilets Grin

Silkierabbit · 20/09/2023 21:09

Yes same here Iwandered They are the ones that look like bricks. Don't like them at all.

Silkierabbit · 20/09/2023 21:11

Am slightly nervous a tiler will just turn up tomorrow with a whole load of metro tiles though at least we don't have that many tiles and in the scheme of things I will get over it. 😂

sproutsandparsnips · 20/09/2023 22:18

Love the kitchen Silkie!
Mallards I cannot wear any kind of wool it is so itchy!
Bizzey we have had a freezer problem - someone has left the door open just a little bit and it iced up. Couldn't open the doors to see what it was what so had to defrost it so DH spent the evening cooking lamb curry and beef casserole.
Spent some time talking to a nice IT man in work. I wanted to know why when I log on to a particular computer (we don't have our own) my background is black. Why it says disc storage space nearly full, why it tells me Onedrive is not synced (don't use it) and why I cannot access several important applications. He was quite helpful and is arranging for an IN PERSON review. He also stayed late by 7 mins and I said he could come in late tomorrow......
Miss our thermostat has yet again unbound, but I googled how to bind it and it is now bound.

IWanderedLonely · 21/09/2023 21:10

How's the tiling gone Silkies?

Silkierabbit · 21/09/2023 21:27

Thanks Sprouts and Iwandered

No sign of a tiler yet and only one out of 3 kitchen men came and they started at 11.15am though tbf they stayed until 7pm and they did paint everywhere but they don't know if will need another coat. They also sanded the worktop which they told us to osmo oil 4 times 🤔So guess we will be osmo oiling that again.

Apparently tomorrow two of them are coming and they said they may or may not finish the kitchen, but should move the bottom units apart 1cm more and put cooker in and raise units to height of cooker. They can't move top units up to keep gap apparently as glued in but should still be ok. They said will be finished apart from a few bits and pieces. I just hope they can get it so we can get ours stuff back in and their stuff which is masses of stuff goes home with them or at least one of those and we have a cooker can use.

Now the tiler and tiles apparently they have a special one and he is the only one they want to use but he's very hard to track down. The tiling can be done after with a useable kitchen but would prefer whole thing done.

bizzey · 21/09/2023 21:54

Silkie ..kitchen is looking lovely!

When do you know when the units have been oiled enough ? (!!)

Sprouts.. yeah ...I think I am going to have to work the freezer down and defrost it.

Trouble is it is one unit with the fridge so need to run that down as well!

Ohh what a shame ...we will have to get takeaway again ! 🤣

My main concern is milk for my cuppa !

Though I do like a coffee with a Bailey's 🤔🤔🤔😇!

Last time this happened I had to defrost and chuck a load of things as it was an emergency/no warning.

At least this time I can plan it.

Sigh...I will just have to eat ice-cream al weekend 🤣🤣

bizzey · 21/09/2023 21:59

OMG !

I forgot something!!
Against all rules of this thread I know ....
But...

I bought a (re furbished) laptop and set it up all by my self !!

Took me me flipping ages to find the on/off button(🤦‍♀️) and a Google manual download !
But I did it.

Different layout to what I am use to ...

But I have too much admin to do , so hopefully it will get me through that .

Lots of dreaded forms that I just can't do on my phone.

Silkierabbit · 21/09/2023 22:06

Well done Bizzey. No idea when you know it's been oiled enough they said at least 4 times which we did but then they sanded it so whether we need 1 more or 4 more who knows. DH said no more but think that wishful thinking. Its fairly quick, just need to keep someone's big clumsy paws off it.

Silkierabbit · 21/09/2023 22:07

The kitchen man said his son loved Floof more than any cat ever and was pestering him for a Floof.

MissConductUS · 21/09/2023 22:48

Well done, Bizzey. You'll have the hang of the new laptop in no time.

One of our favorite takeaway places had a kitchen fire last spring and has been closed since then. I drove past it today, and it looks like they are open. 😁DH will ring and ensure that it's not just the bar that's open, and hopefully, we'll get a takeaway from there tonight.

I've been watching a fab British detective TV series on Amazon Prime called Queens of Mystery. Amazon has put up six episodes for free. I may have to subscribe to Acorn TV to see the rest. I pursued the other Acorn shows, and it looks better than Britbox.

Waiting for my washing to finish then I can hang it up!

The novelty of having a washing machine that does not sound like Concord is taking off is quite exciting !

Was going to put it on in the morning...then I remembered...I could do it now and start the drying on the airer overnight!

bizzey · 22/09/2023 00:18

Forgot to say..
While waiting...I am looking at cases/sleeves for my new laptop.

It is 11.5 " thing.

Any ideas on what I need.
I want to keep charger in the bag as they always go missing otherwise !

Should I go for a 12" bag ?
