Welcome to all regulars, lurkers, and new contributors! Everyone is welcome to join.

Sitting here nervously waiting for D's to come back from college after collecting his GCSE results .

We are not part of a " normal " co-hort as DS is 3 years out of the grouping !

But with his SN it was an achievement for him to even sit these 2.

6 years ago he couldn't even leave the house !

All the talk about the grade boundaries and stuff is not making me feel hopeful for him .

But he can resit in November.

Saw a line magpie in the garden.

May have gone a little over the top with my greeting of him , asking how Mrs magpie was ,and the children !🤣🤣.

Hope that has enough to ward off the magpie superstitions.

Silkie hope you have a wonderful holiday with your dd .

I’m sitting in a darkened bedroom eating a family sized bar of galaxy while trying to feed 4 month old who hasn’t slept more than half an hour in 3 days to sleep while my lunch gets cold downstairs (assuming the dog hasn’t gotten it!) 😂

Good luck with the GCSE results Bizzey Lemons and Sprouts DS should have been today too, glad I have Mauritius to distract us and the meetup was useful, 3 Mums in the same boat.

Well he has come home to tell me that college don't give out the results ...that are all on e mail.

Which he hasn't opened yet 😕!

He is now wittering in about a new wall they have built in the high street and some new road works !!

4 in Maths
3 in English .

Absolutely over the moon for him !!

The 4 in Maths is just the same ...if not better than DS 1 getting all A 's and A*'s !!

We knew English would be a struggle as English is not as black and white as maths 😁😂.

He has been accepted on the next course and will resit English in November.

But that is always going to be a thorn in our sides !

He was always going to be a Bill Gates type of person instead of Shakespeare 😂😂!

ds2 has put a wash on.
He obviously didn't listen to my instructions on what wash cycles to use on this new machine....

He has put it on a F*ING 3 hour 20 mins wash 😭😭😭!

He saw 60 (c) and turned the knob to that ....
Instead of to the left for the 60' (mins) wash !!

Think I might have to cover up all the other stupid wash options and just stuck to the 2 I want to use !!

Who even needs a wash that is that long ?

I have had a quick look.....it gets worse !

I think he has 4 light/white t shirts in there ...and a blue one 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️!

And that's it !!

Not even a couple of towels to bulk it out ....

I really thought I had brought him up better 😕

Might have to add an extra charge into his housekeeping money this month !

That might help him remember in future 😅😅!

Welcome, @Casiotoad , and thanks for sharing your mundane and calming infant feeding news. How on earth does a child that age go for three days with only 30 minutes of sleep? I hope your lunch escaped the attention of your dog.

I saw mama duck on the reservoir this morning, diving for fish. No duckling, unfortunately.

Congrats Bizzey. Now at Heathrow having an orange juice and DD is having a meal awaiting flight. Bags dropped off.

Well sone Bizzey's ds.

Fought with the shelf brackets over 2 hours yesterday. The screws/wall anchors are not strong enough to hold shelf and the brackets are not identical to each other so was impossible to level. Return initiated to Amazon. Watched 3 YouRube videos on putting up shelves. I need to use longer screws and put then into the studs instead.
Stud finder bought on Amazon to arrive Friday. Hadn't taken brackets out of hall closet, so loaded everything back into that one, but bedroom closet is a shambles until I can try again this weekend. Live and learn.

*"stud finder" is not a euphemism. Minds out of the gutter ladies. 🤣

Is he likely to end up with all pale blue shirts?

@bizzey going on a 60 c wash isn’t going to do wonders for the tshirts either 😬

Back home now.
Been a bit busy looking stud finder on Amazon.... surprised to find nothing took my fancy 😂!

Hung his washing out as obviously...he has gone to work.

So creased 🤦‍♀️!

But I was wrong in what he had put in the machine.
There were 2 pairs of socks in there as well.....so that's alright then 😂!

As an experiment if you are interested...

Washing is no cleaner than if I do it on a 60min ...or even a rapid 15 !!

Just really,really,really dry creased 😂!

They need an iron 🤦‍♀️.
Better dust that off for him then 😂😂!

Did a lot of driving today and felt v tired when I got home... last weekend before we go back to school/ DS has a very full schedule of matches and parties ahead...

I ordered some new clothes and they've just arrived. Nothing quite so much fun as unpacking a parcel.

Good luck to everyone waiting for GCSE results. Are they grading with numbers instead of letters now?

Mallards, still no sighting of the duckling, but I did see this juvenile this morning while walking in the rain. I think this is a new arrival. The white spot is distinctive.

The Motor Vehicle Department registration sticker for DD's car did arrive on Tuesday and is now mounted in the window. DH also noticed an old, rubbish flashlight (torch?) in her glove compartment and kindly gave her a much nicer LED model he had in the house. DH is a bit of a flashlight nut.

We arrived in Mauritius this morning and love it. This is the first hotel. Had lovely taxi ride along coast for 1.5 hours to hotel with lovely scenery coast and fishing boats and green mountains. Then had a few drinks and samosas and ice cream by the pool and went in sea and lovely evening meal with cocktails. Now back in room with DD. Tomorrow we have breakfast, then glass bottom boat, snorkelling, lunch and dinner in the Chinese restaurant. About 26C and sunny today.

At home the red cooker has arrived.
