In the voice of Cpl Jones.

"Don't panic Capt Sunak"

"Hold your nerve"

"They don't like it up em".

On a slightly lighter note.

Did anyone watch the Last Leg last night?

Ds and I were in tears at Elton Johnson's Johnson farewell song.

itsgettingweird · 01/07/2023 19:41

Tears of laughter I should clarify!!!

We are happy he quit 🤣

Notonthestairs · 01/07/2023 21:04

I will look for it on catch up Smile

I read this and feel so bloody sad and angry - so I thought I'd share although you all have probably seen it already. The state we are in...

School budget cuts- is this normal? http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/amiibeingunreasonable/4839390-school-budget-cuts-is-this-normal

They are looking at this as a possible solution to the ECHR Rwanda problem. A brand spanking new referendum.

Wonder how many lies they'll put on the side of buses if we have another referendum....

Efacsen · 01/07/2023 21:23

And how much it will cost

Another £130 million?

TooBigForMyBoots · 01/07/2023 21:40

A veritable bargain for making Suella's dream come true.

Hmm. Wonder if that would go better or worse than The Reform Party's recent Twitter poll?

DuncinToffee · 01/07/2023 23:46

There is ofcourse the 'small' issue of the Good Friday Agreement

From The Telegraph:

The Conservatives are on course for the biggest by-election defeat in British history in Mid Bedfordshire, according to a poll that will cause panic among Tory MPs.

A survey by Opinium found that Labour would overturn Nadine Dorries’ 24,664 majority in a seat that has been held by the Tories since 1931.

😂😂😂😂😂

I work in education.

I've felt it over the years. But the politicians don't because they use private. It's very "I'm alright Jack".

Piggywaspushed · 02/07/2023 07:52

They'll know that private school fees are going up, though!

But there isn't a by-election in mid-Bedfordshire because Nads resigened with immediate effect.

Piggywaspushed · 02/07/2023 07:55

That is the first time I have seen something that suggests my vote should go to Labour. All the LD campaign leaflets say only they can beat the Tories in mid Beds. For someone prepared to vote tactically to bloody the Tories' noses, I wish I knew what to do.

They have fairly shrewdly picked a local living candidate for the Tories who has three state educated children . He is currently police and crime commissioner, and haan't done anything wildly wrong mainly because he doesn't seem to have done anything at all

medianewbie · 02/07/2023 08:10

Later to thread. I'm a 'therapist'. Shall I pull my own teeth out when I can't get an NHS dentist @Rishi ? Utter muppet!

DuncinToffee · 02/07/2023 10:30

I caught a bit of Barclay on Laura K this morning, so this NHS plan hasn’t been costed and we have to wait for the budget to find out where the money will come from? But we are in safe hands with Hunt, the NHS passionate, and Sunak, whose parents worked for the NHS Hmm

so this NHS plan hasn’t been costed

What a total surprise.

If one holds ones nerve enough does the money just appear by magic in the sunlit uplands?

Notonthestairs · 02/07/2023 10:51

Why bother costing it when it will never be implemented.

As said previously it's just a bit of paper to wave at Wes Streeting.

countrygirl99 · 02/07/2023 11:00

Barclay is my parents MP. He was worse than shit when 93yo very frail, with many co-morbidities dad couldn't get a GP appointment during covid.

I quite like the sound of Lord Deben!

Surely Sunak would have known that bottle of wine would be picked up the press? That said I'm not sure what he could have given that wouldn't have attracted derision given the £3 million handed to McKenna and the £100,000 given to Winchester.
