In the voice of Cpl Jones.

"Don't panic Capt Sunak"

"Hold your nerve"

"They don't like it up em".

We have a choice between extremely bad alternative outcomes

Perhaps the liaison committee limited themselves to an hour because they couldn’t stand listening to Rishi attempting to answer questions for any longer than that.

DuncinToffee · 04/07/2023 18:25

The Met & Thames Valley Police also looked at information from Cabinet Office about events at Chequers & sought "some further clarification".

They concluded they do not meet retrospective criteria for opening an investigation which is that event was "serious & flagrant" breach.

🤔

Couldn't blame them if they did.

Rishi must be gutted about the new Partygate investgations though. Not only is it bad for the Tories generally, but the more prominent the issue is, the more likely it is that it gets pointed out he did fuck all when he knew Boris was lying to Parliament.

I wondered how hamstrung staff are at Chequers as I thought it was staffed by forces personnel. Let's face it it's not as if Johnson would have completed a questionnaire even if he had been sent one.

Lebedev was definitely invited to Chequers at one point as Sarah Vine wrote about it

I'm losing the will to live on the "labour will be worse" thread
But just for info jgw the new line appears to be that Welsh Labour are bad so don't vote Labour.

I don't think I have the energy now for such a thread, maybe tomorrow.

Ah

This is regarding Tory Party Snr Treasurer Mansour’s who co-owns of Mantrac, which still appeared to have a Russian-language website advertising its services as an authorised dealer of Caterpillar hardware/equipment, + 14 offices in the country.

Mansour donated £5mill to Tories

Is he the one who used to be one of Hosni Mubarak's ministers?

Cummings really doesn't like Sunak.

StormShadow · 04/07/2023 19:57

That's a given! Although I don't know if the Bailey jingle and mingle party video has anything to do with him. Always thought that might be someone who had previously stayed onside but got peeved when they weren't on the resignation honours list when so much other dross was.

itsgettingweird · 04/07/2023 20:00

Can someone link the Labour thread? I can't find it but found a similary titled one from a few months ago.

L1ttledrummergirl · 04/07/2023 20:10

I'd stay clear, they are batshit. Twisting and turning to deny the reality of the poor governance and leadership the tories have shown, latching onto anything regardless of how tenuous or true to support the tories. Poor @Blossomtoes, seriously that poster sounds deranged.

It’s worrying if that’s going to be a tactic on political threads for sure. It’s a measure of the desperation, I guess.

Notonthestairs · 04/07/2023 20:22

Revealing that they don't have any Conservative achievements to shout about.

Why aren't they declaring how marvellous Brexit/Levelling up/40 new hospitals have turned out?

13 years and what is working better in the UK?

Piggywaspushed · 04/07/2023 20:25

I don't understand the posters saying Starmer isn't Blair and they can't tell the difference between Lab and Con. People always said that about New Labour...What do they want? Obviously not Corbyn, it seems.

I guess that's just 'justified apathy'.

They want the Tories to be in power, so that as serfs we know to doff our caps at our superiors.

Piggywaspushed · 04/07/2023 20:34

Oh, I guess that might be it...

tobee · 04/07/2023 21:10

I hope so @Cornettoninja re the twitter solution. Ds has disappeared atm but I will let you know anon.

I looked briefly on the thread and had to leave it. I would end up getting banned. That one going on about giving up and claiming benefits is particularly charming.

There's going to be more and more of this as we get nearer to the GE. To borrow a phrase from Rishi! we have to hold our nerve.

IClaudine · 04/07/2023 21:18

As for Katherine Birbalsingh, how to trash your own reputation.

I can't quite work out why they think it is Labour's fault that they have decided to give up on earning a living and live on the bread line on benefits instead.

IClaudine · 04/07/2023 21:30

Yes, it is odd. The Tories have been running the social security system for 13 years now. And who was it that introduced Universal Credit?

Tbf to KB she’s very much living up to her reputation. Make a mistake, double down don’t apologise, string it out for as long as possible.

They want to feel justified in voting Conservative
Or they have an agenda and are trying to disillusion people who are genuinely wavering/swing voters. Low turnout will suit the Tories
Or they have an agenda and want to undermine British democracy

I hate the Internet sometimes
