Coke is pointless

Whatajokr · 12/06/2023 14:06

I'm late 40s. On Saturday I had 3 lines of coke over the space of 2 hours. First time in my life I've ever had drugs.

It did absolutely nothing for me. Pointless waste of time and money.

My friend, who takes it recreationally every few months, asked if I could feel the buzz, or the energy it gave me. Nope.

Nothing. Nada. Zilch.

I'll be sticking to alcohol as my drug of choice. Why people waste their money on that stuff I'll never know.

OP posts:

Probably showing my naivety here - but are there really lots of middle-aged professionals who are hooked on coke?

Yes it's a rich person drug

RestingMurderousFace · 12/06/2023 17:44

I’m like that with weed, does absolutely bugger all.

Boomshock · 12/06/2023 17:45

Lots of comments about the quality of the coke.

But for some people it genuinely doesn't really doesn't affect them. I did it a few times when I was younger and it did nothing for me except make me a little more talkative.
I could even eat after it and sleep.

And it was really 'good' coke. I was friends with the dealer and he never cut it. Everyone else was ruining their life over it and getting into a lot of debt so I have no idea at all what they were feeling because to me it felt like nothing.

The only reason I did it more than once was because people would insist. I was a teenager/young adult and going through a fucked up time.

IME it isn't the coke users vomiting on the side of pavements every Friday night and being carted off in ambulances. Plenty of inebriated 40 year olds sitting in pubs every weekend. Some might say that's pathetic..

It is pathetic. But it's not illegal. And the stuff they're drinking comes from a regulated and highly taxed industry, not known for its exploitation and murder.

kethuphouse · 12/06/2023 17:46

willWillSmithsmith · 12/06/2023 17:42

Yes but is there a chain of appalling violence and exploitation of the poverty stricken just to get that beer on the table?

No, but tell that to the 80 year old waiting for an ambulance that never comes because another pisshead is en route to A&E. My point is that our lifestyle choices al have consequences so lets stop trying to out consequence each other 😂

Well done, your friend is supporting an evil and illegal trade.

You need to grow up.

Stepson hung himself after a night on the Stella and a couple of bags of coke.
You see OP you never know when it can twist your brain and cause you to do things you wouldn't do without it.
Loads of suicides happen after cocaine use, and, alcohol use, I will add to save anybody saying that's worse

Cocaine and alcohol mixed actually turn into a different drug (and more dangerous drug) in the body.

Boomshock · 12/06/2023 17:49

@Luddite26
Also forgot to say, sorry about your stepson 💐

No comparison in those consequences whatsoever.

It seems you're OK with the thousands of murders so you can take cocaine?

To be fair you have a very valid point iv been taken to hospital multiple times by ambulance for alcohol but never drugs except intentional overdoses but thats a whole other thing. Alcohol is probably one of the most dangerous drugs and people just don't see it because it's legal

Yes well done, you've nailed it. I'm over the moon with thousands being murdered. Let's at least try to have a grown up conversation about it. It's so much more fun that way.

TooJoy · 12/06/2023 17:51

It wasn’t coke.

After 3 lines of it and never doing it before you would have felt something, even if it was very mild.

I think you may have been the victim of a prank.
Get new friends.

clpsmum · 12/06/2023 17:54

And You needed to get to your late 40s to realise this???

HelpMeGetThrough · 12/06/2023 17:55

It did absolutely nothing for me. Pointless waste of time and money.

Well, if it was real and you weren't tooting self raising flour, I wouldn't drive for a couple of days and have to do a roadside drugs wipe.

I'd go with self raising flour, at least you won't have a soggy bottom.

A grown up conversation. You're not only being sarcastic, but comparing legal activities with a deadly trade.

If you won't answer then I'll have to infer that you're fine with the murder, torture and misery that goes into making cocaine; if you weren't you wouldn't take it or defend it.

I try to only converse with people I find interesting so I shall say good evening and leave you to it.

So, basically, I'm right 👍

TheAudie · 12/06/2023 18:01

Just thinking if the trade is exploitative, why don’t we legalize it and then proper legislation can be put in place

Cheztwix · 12/06/2023 18:03

This sums up mumsnet for me.

Doing coke= ok
Starving yourself= ok/aspirational
Eating processed food= no! So bad for you!
Having a drink= you’re an alcoholic

Why any educated grown up would choose to take coke is beyond me. Yeah it’s nice, but you know better.

StaunchMomma · 12/06/2023 18:04

I guess the bright side of having been sold duff drugs is they probably had less faecal matter in them from the kids who are forced to carry around drugs for gangs in plastic kinder egg toy containers up their arseholes.

Cocaine. A lovely bit of fun for absolute twunts who like to support organise crime of a weekend🙄

PearlClutzsche · 12/06/2023 18:05

I'm all for legalising everything myself, @TheAudie . People should be able to partake of whatever crap they like. Seems ridiculous that alcohol is legal and other drugs are not.
Until such a time though, cocaine is a horrific trade, and remains the preserve of people with questionable morals.

MrsTWH · 12/06/2023 18:22

Having worked directly with teens who have been groomed by drugs gangs and have been convicted of murdering each other over it, I can’t get on board with anyone who thinks taking a “cheeky line/spliff” is fine. This is damaging your own communities, even if you don’t care about the thousands of people being murdered in a different country.

The problems nearer to home surprisingly haven't much featured this thread. Thanks for reminding us of the further horrors.

I'm sure one of the apologists will be along soon to try and minimise this, though...
