Coke is pointless

I'm late 40s. On Saturday I had 3 lines of coke over the space of 2 hours. First time in my life I've ever had drugs.

It did absolutely nothing for me. Pointless waste of time and money.

My friend, who takes it recreationally every few months, asked if I could feel the buzz, or the energy it gave me. Nope.

Nothing. Nada. Zilch.

I'll be sticking to alcohol as my drug of choice. Why people waste their money on that stuff I'll never know.

Is it only worse because it's illegal and the profit goes to bad men who don't wear suits ? I'll let you in on a little secret. The men in suits in the House of commons are also bad men.....

It’s almost impossible to be squeaky clean because we all have to eat, dress and go places, but I, like most others try to do things as ethically as I can.
There is no need to take drugs. None whatsoever. And most people with a smattering of basic humanity would avoid an industry built on atrocity and murder.

It is frankly laughable that you think burdening the NHS by having a few drinks is even remotely comparable.

Same experience about 15 years ago when I took some colleagues up on the offer of some. Did nothing to me at all. Don't see how people have 5 day benders with it.

Sorry but there is a major difference between fast fashion and the deaths from the drug trade. There are legal requirements in the UK to ensure retailers here are not supporting the slave trade. Terrible examples still slip through and there is work to be done, but there is absolutely no parallel between buying a pair of shorts from H&M and buying cocaine smuggled illegally and sourced via county lines. Literally zero commonality.

Yep. The evils that go on in government/business sanctioned worlds, above the heads of us mere mortals, dwarf anything we think we know about what goes on. The diamond industry, for a start, yet many people aghast at drug-users are wearing a diamond on their ring finger.

I personally disagree. I think the only difference is what we're accustomed and blind to. Personally I feel more guilty buying fast fashion or booking a flight than I do about my distant memories of being involved in using drugs. I sincerely mean that as well, I'm not just trying to make a point. It dismays me how much harm is pushed under the rug simply because we, as a society, have agreed to condone it because it's "normal".

Lots of my friends are regular users. I used to dabble occasionally, coke does absolutely nothing for me.
People react differently to different drugs it's not for me

The travel and wine industries are not responsible for countless murders and atrocities. It is not hypocrisy to drink wine but condemn cocaine production and trafficking and their associated horrors. They are not remotely comparable.

In my experience coke doesn't get worse as you get further north.

But then again I've never tried any in the South so probably can't comment.
