HoC are only sitting between 4th -19th September. Then Conferences until 15th October.

Quite a short window to fit in a by-election...

Not sure how long it will take for the writ, but they generally don't do anything in July or August and most of Sept which is conference season.
I'd say min 6wks to organise, so you might be waiting now until Sept/Oct.

I thought she had quit doing anything useful as an MP ages ago?

Oh I had thought that was Williamson (Lord). But I can't remember why I thought that!
