Dorries has (presumably deliberately!) missed the deadline for a by election on 20th July. I guess she'll hang on like a bad smell until party conference.

So that little speech of hers was pure temper tantrum.

Hope nobody in Mid Beds needs help from their MP. If she was crap before she's not going to get any better whilst she's fretting about her title.

There really needs to be a mechanism for constituents to boot out an MP who isn't doing her job and has made it blatantly clear that she is only hanging on because she's sulking about not getting a peerage.

DuncinToffee · 25/06/2023 11:03

Sunak is extremely bad, no wonder he doesn't do live interviews.

Ben Elton

Ben Elton lets rip.

"Rishi Sunak was just dripping with vanity"

Piggywaspushed · 25/06/2023 11:46

That's epic!

absolutely. It’s crazy that we’ve had blatant demonstrations of MP’s just not being arsed and there is precisely no recourse for constituents and they’re left with nothing to do but sit tight till an election.

I can only think of Hancock who’s been held to account in the name of his constituents and that’s only because his face didn’t fit anymore.

Cornettoninja · 25/06/2023 11:53

Elton has more than enough practice with Tory governments but even he sounds disbelieving of what he keeps seeing.

Isn’t it? It’s so disheartening to think that nothing about the Tories has got any better in the 40 years since he started his stand up career.

Yes those openly saying they're going to be watching the cricket rather than going to their place of work.

Etc etc etc

They’ve given up, haven’t they?

They must have

Times is reporting that Tory MPs are now looking at the potential to bring back Liz Truss after becoming concerned about Rishi Sunak’s approval ratings and lack of help for mortgage holders

And Lee Anderson is feeding baked beans to another Tory on gbeebies.

mibbelucieachwell · 25/06/2023 13:07

Apparently Rishi Sunak told people to "hold our nerve". He's going to stick to the plan. I wonder which plan he's referring to?

And, I don't mean to quibble, but what's the point of holding your nerve when your home is being repossessed/you're going out of business/your home is cramped as you can't afford your own place? Are we supposed to be reassured because Rishi is holding his nerve.

It's all a bit confusing really.

mibbelucieachwell · 25/06/2023 13:09

Hands up if you're holding your nerve?

Is it a euphemism for wayward mps' leisure activities?

I was mightly reassured earlier in the week that the plan to halve inflation involves apprenticeships.
This was all I took from the interview with Cleverly on the subject.

L1ttledrummergirl · 25/06/2023 13:20

I've just seen this mornings interview with Kuenssberg. I don't know whether to cry or rage. He is pathetic, out of touch and so far up his own arse he is incapable of considering reality.
He's rewritten his own history in his head and expects us to believe it.

Anyone who is still fawning over this piece of shit to the point of destroying the country to feed his ego by keeping him in position are incapable of doing the job of advocating for their constituents and need to go as well.

I think it is important with Sunak to remember that he was sat next to Johnson as the latter lied to parliament. Given that Sunak was at an illegal party that Johnson lied about, and presumably visited 10 Downing Street regularly, Sunak must have known that Johnson was lying to parliament.

L1ttledrummergirl · 25/06/2023 14:11

Sunak lies as well. He actually believes that he has no responsibility for anything that happened before he became leader of the conservatives last year. I avoid saying PM where possible because he hasn't yet taken on any of the responsibilities that the job comes with. The sad thing is that he appears to believe his own lies and that's terrifying in a leader.

If they can't be honest with us, they should at least be capable of being honest with themselves. Sunak seems incapable of this.

Thats precisely what I’m sensing is the general conclusion.

There’s been a fair bit of debate about whether someone with the wealth rishi has is capable of running the country for the benefit of everybody. Guess we’ve got our answer now.

He’s talking to everyone like they have the same options he does.

On top of the ‘blah, blah, blah’ anyone busting out the ‘we survived 15% interest rates’ whilst failing to acknowledge the scales are very different now, nobody seems to be talking about the fact that handing back your house keys is an option when there is social housing to fall back on. That’s just not a ‘thing’ now, very much by design.

I wonder how many parents have helped out their kids by downsizing and releasing money early and now simply don’t have the room to offer shelter should it come to it and they can’t afford their houses?

Cornettoninja · 25/06/2023 16:51

Blossomtoes · 25/06/2023 12:54

I can only presume they’ve scraped the bottom of the barrel and are no longer making any money from anyone to be cunts.

RafaistheKingofClay · 25/06/2023 17:25

They’ve given up running the country. They won’t give up screwing money out of it for their own benefit until they’ve got as much as they can out of it.

mibbelucieachwell · 25/06/2023 17:27

And twice he helpfully explained that switching to an interest only mortgage will save people money? Eh, not in the long run it won't.

sleepsforwimps1 · 25/06/2023 17:34

And still Rishi maintains public sector pay is the problem and wanting to go against review body recommendations

That's really almost funny. Surely any MP with half a brain must realise that if Liz Truss is the only answer they have, then it's really time to pack up and hand the whole thing over to a party that actually possesses a competent leader who stands a fighting chance of not trashing the economy?

pointythings · 25/06/2023 18:18

The optics of refusing to go along with the pay recommendations are going to provide all the election slogans Labour will ever need...

So Liz Truss - the problem that completely trashed what was left of our economy - is the best answer they have to save our country economy.

You can't make it up Shock

itsgettingweird · 25/06/2023 19:24

Ok weird. It's quoted a different post to the one I quoted about Liz Truss!!!

My comment looks weird against a completely different post 🫣🤣
