He is looking for a fridge Grin

he can share one with clav

He is always so unprepared for questions he knows are coming, it's shocking.

Notonthestairs · 15/06/2023 08:40

It is odd that he couldnt respond authoritatively. A simple "I dont think I should comment on the findings until Parliament and the Committee have had an opportunity to voice their opinions. As you know there will be a vote on Monday..." And then a bit of flannel about respecting the process etc etc.
Far better to come out in support of House of Commons than pretending none of it is happening.

Boris Johnson is preparing a line-by-like rebuttal of the Privileges Committee’s report

He intends to publish it when the report is made public

He and his lawyers have been working on it since he received the draft findings last week

twitter.com/steven_swinford/status/1668683463191306248?s=46&t=Uw4lJNwxFZFnX0Xs3doHYg

Meanwhile mortgage crisis, CoL, strike action, delays in A&E etc etc.
what a waste of a Government they are.

It must be a bit soul-destroying working in his lawyer's office and knowing that any rebuttal based on the concept that Boris doesn't lie is a total waste of time.

RafaistheKingofClay · 15/06/2023 08:54

Particularly when the thing you are rebutting is a 30,000 page document of evidence of him lying.

Kiwano · 15/06/2023 08:58

If it's a line-by-line rebuttal, then unless each rebuttal consists of no more than "I'm right, Yah boo sucks", the rebuttal is going to be longer than War and Peace.

newnamethanks · 15/06/2023 09:01

I just read a quote, sorry didn't pay enough attention to attribute it, apologies "the more he spoke of his honour, the more we counted the spoons". Seems apposite.

newnamethanks · 15/06/2023 09:03

Don't worry about Bojo's lawyers, stairs, the longer the whinge, the more they're earning. All paid for by a grateful nation.

DuncinToffee · 15/06/2023 09:04

And we, the taxpayers, pay for it Angry

Report released. Listening to Beth Rigby Sky

Worse than thought... recommendation is 19 days suspension not 10.

Deliberately misleading the House
Deliberately misleading the Committee
Attempted intimidation of the Committee

DuncinToffee · 15/06/2023 09:06

It's bad

90 days suspension

Not 19

Just catching up and ferreting about looking at the report info, it's horrific and amazing in equal measure as far as I can see! I'd sum it up as basically saying not only is Boris Johnson the biggest liar that ever was, he's also a massive tw*t too. Fabulous!

Yes! I was listening to Beth Rigby and thought I heard 19, as I said!
Ooops!

committed by the Prime Minister, the most senior member of the government."

Blossomtoes · 15/06/2023 09:23

Pigeons definitely coming home to roost now.

newnamethanks · 15/06/2023 09:24

I hope Harriet Harman sues him for libel. Seems pointless to call him a disgrace who behaves like a petulant child but it'll do for now.

DuncinToffee · 15/06/2023 09:27

Why did Sunak approve that 'honours' list? He must have known what was coming.

He can't hide from this.

TokyoSushi · 15/06/2023 09:27

My MP is on the Privileges Committee, I've just sent him a little well done note - probably makes a change from my usual complaints!

I reserved judgement on Sunak being weak. That has been spouted right from the beginning but I thought it was the only insult they could use so picked that.

But I am inclined to agree, he is weak.

BunnyBettChetwynnd · 15/06/2023 09:36

The DM on Johnson, 'In a statement this morning, he dismissed the findings as 'tripe' and 'deranged', saying the committee was 'beneath contempt' and part of a 'protracted political assassination'.

Seems like a good day to remember all the previous times Johnson has tried to squirm his way out of previous lies and failures.

All the defences Boris Johnson used for scandals he’s faced during his career

Boris Johnson's twin careers in journalism and politics have seen him fired for making up quotes, sacked for a secret affair and investigated over the lavish refurbishment of his Downing Street flat

The Privileges Committee notes that after Boris Johnson publicly distanced himself from attempts to impugn and intimidate the committee, he went on to release a statement using the exact same contemptuous words he previously disowned.

Notonthestairs · 15/06/2023 10:04

I've been out. What did I miss? 😁

They’re recommending that his parliamentary pass is taken away too. That report is the gift that keeps on giving.
