Chub rub 😖

I've put some weight on, and for the first time am understanding the agony if chub rub. I'm wearing a dress to work today (because my trousers are too tight...) and plan to go fir a walk at lunchtime. Last time though, in the warmer weather, it was bloody awful!

I am trying to lose weight and also have started exercising 4 times a week so I'm hoping to banish it quickly (it seems to be the last half a stone that's made a difference)

For today though, what can I do?

Imagine making products for fatties and attempting to sell them by showing how it may look on someone of their body size 😯

How many times?! Not everyone who's thighs rub together is fat!

Err, yes I know that considering I've spent all my time in this thread making that exact point.

Ooops, sorry! I've got you mixed up with other posters. Apologies!

No worries 🙂

I think it's a skin type thing as much as a shape thing. I see people wearing tiny shorts with thighs that touch on a day out and they're not walking like a cowboy who just rode for 10 hours while I need chub rub shorts to potter around my house however cool it is. It's not a confidence thing, it's sheer pain!

randomsabreuse · 07/06/2023 17:12

I used to get chub rub as a skinny teenager, also prone to stretch marks so I guess they may be related...

I never thought about it before but you could be on to something here. I got massive stretch marks when my pelvis opened up at puberty, even though I was skinny and gained no noticeable weight. My skin is very sensitive and almost any marks scar, so perhaps a lot of it is down to skin type. A slightly chafing collar or label can give me welts!

Favouritefruits · 07/06/2023 17:44

I use talc or chub rub shorts from M&S I think they are £20 for two pairs and they are breathable.

IHeartGeneHunt · 07/06/2023 18:50

I also have a lot of stretch marks, interesting.

KnitFastDieWarm · 07/06/2023 19:21

Snags are great, lovely and cool. size up for maximum comfort in the heat!

I’ve been fat and thin and have always had chafing in the heat because that’s the shape of my body. But even if this was a problem confined to larger women, why should they have to suffer? I don’t get this bizarre moralising of body sizes and the underlying idea that you deserve to be in pain or not wear the summer dresses you want if you have thighs larger than deemed ‘appropriate’ by some posters 🙄

WizardinTraining · 07/06/2023 23:36

@cocksstrideintheevening thank you that sounds like something to try

Bemyclementine · 13/06/2023 20:01

@Favouritefruits what's the sizing like on the M&S shorts please? They have 12/14 or 16/18.

I sized up and they have been fine I’m more of a 14/16 so I got the 16/18. @Bemyclementine

Worldgonecrazy · 14/06/2023 17:40

I’m a size 8/10 and I get chub rub. I don’t have stretch marks.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 14/06/2023 18:20

Has anyone tried the Step One women's boxers?

Lostinplaces · 14/06/2023 18:25

3B cream has been a godsend for me. I have chub run shorts too but on very hot days I can’t stand wearing them. I keep this in my handbag and it lasts for hours

Sainsbury's have some great long legged pants. Cheap as chips and work wonders!

JFDIYOLO · 16/06/2023 01:04

I've been wearing cotton jeans and linen trousers all this week and was v comfortable.

Wore a pretty silk skirt today and by the time I'd got home was walking like John Wayne. Very top of thighs were excruciatingly sore with patches of hard little red painful spots. Blocked sweat glands?? 😬

I have used liquid talc from Superdrug baby range in the past that worked well.

But today I bought a thin viscose pair of trousers and another linen pair. I think this will be my go-to solution.

FlappyFish · 16/06/2023 10:14

I just went on Snag to see if they’d changed them. It’s that seam up the tummy. I may just be really fussy 😂

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 17/06/2023 21:08

Yes, that’s them!

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 17/06/2023 21:11

That was to @LookItsMeAgain

It's a sad reflection on the human race that there is a booming market in chub rub pants😮

Grow up. Women's body shapes have always changed as they get older, it's toxic shitty culture that tells us that's bad. Thigh rub doesn't even mean you're overweight necessarily. Your sad little comment is the sad reflection on the human race imo.

Not only that, but undergarments with legs go back a loooooong way. Underwear changes all the time for a lot of reasons — fashion, materials technology, morals, changes in activity types, comfort, ideas around health, etc.
