Chub rub 😖

I've put some weight on, and for the first time am understanding the agony if chub rub. I'm wearing a dress to work today (because my trousers are too tight...) and plan to go fir a walk at lunchtime. Last time though, in the warmer weather, it was bloody awful!

I am trying to lose weight and also have started exercising 4 times a week so I'm hoping to banish it quickly (it seems to be the last half a stone that's made a difference)

For today though, what can I do?

It's not exactly the same as it's a workout on an incline which an elliptical machine doesn't have, however you'd get just as great results by just doing it at a high resistance. It's more about the intensity than the actual duration which people tend to forget too. For e.g if I was to squat with 5kg weights 60 times it wouldn't have the same impact as lifting 20kg 15 times because although I'm doing it less times it's requiring my body to do more less times.

bonfirebash · 07/06/2023 12:45

It's pelvis shape, and body shape too
People who carry more weight on their thighs, have a more narrow pelvis, who exercise a lot and have really muscled thighs or people with loose skin

Bemyclementine · 07/06/2023 12:47

@LookItsMeAgain I really do have sympathy with anyone who has it, it's so painful. I'm not of slender build, but have only just started suffering with it, and will admit I assumed it was not something slimmer people suffered with. Consider me enlightened.

@BarelyLiterate it has definitely spurred me into action!

Just wear tights? Wouldn’t you anyway with a dress at work?

I wouldn't wear tights in the summer. I'd rather wear trousers!

Bemyclementine · 07/06/2023 13:05

No, I've got bare legs and sandals on.

Sorry all, I didn't mean to cause a debate, I've never had skinny thighs, they've always touched but I've never had a problem with rubbing til this year when I class myself as fat.

Thin layer of Vaseline, I use this when running on all the chafing prone areas, it’s brilliant,

Lanacane anti chaff gel is good too.

Newnamenewname109870 · 07/06/2023 13:10

@BarelyLiterate not if you’re a real pear shape. You can be teeny tiny and still get it if you’re thigh heavy. some people cannot get a thigh gap unless they’re anorexic.

Newnamenewname109870 · 07/06/2023 13:11

Also remember heat expands whatever thigh you have anyway.

Another option to try is Popsy Underpops. I personally find them much better than the snag chib rubs shorts (and they have a nicer name!) They come in loads of colours, and are really soft and light and breathable.
Underpops here:

Anti Chafing Shorts | The Underpops Collection from Popsy

The Popsy range of anti-chafing shorts are an absolute dream to wear. Our women’s anti chafe essential shorts are available in a variety of colours and sizes.

Get some chub rub shorts!

Toddlerteaplease · 07/06/2023 13:17

Primark chub rub shorts are fab.

TripleDaisySummer · 07/06/2023 13:18

sad reflection on the human race

I thought it was fashion - tights in summer with dresses used to be more common and way before that longer underwear was normal.

corn starch - modern talc - or bike shorts/ short leggings/ long leggings under dresses, tights or long pants or office trousers.

Toddlerteaplease · 07/06/2023 13:20

I don't buy from snag as I detest their adverts!

RavenclawLuna · 07/06/2023 13:30

Two solutions OP. 1. Liquid talc or 2. Primark for chub rub shorts. Both are a life saver in this weather.

mynameiscalypso · 07/06/2023 14:51

I think it's a very positive reflection on the human race that someone has invented a product that allows a significant number of women not to be in pain in the summer 🤷🏻‍♀️

Couldn't agree more.

TWmover · 07/06/2023 16:16

I can second both the M&S anti chafing shorts and the Lanacane product is revolutionary and lasts all day.

Chub rub 😖

Why?

Toddlerteaplease · 07/06/2023 16:24

Because you wouldn't put an anorexic model on those adverts. I'm all for body positivity but I'm not sure extreme obesity should be celebrated in such a way.

None of these women look particularly obese. They're being inclusive of all figures by the looks of it. They have a pregnant woman on that page too, I imagine they would be really comfortable in late pregnancy in the heat.

Toddlerteaplease · 07/06/2023 16:36

They do seemed to have toned down slightly.

BordoisAgain · 07/06/2023 16:57

Imagine making products for fatties and attempting to sell them by showing how it may look on someone of their body size 😯
