Chub rub 😖

I've put some weight on, and for the first time am understanding the agony if chub rub. I'm wearing a dress to work today (because my trousers are too tight...) and plan to go fir a walk at lunchtime. Last time though, in the warmer weather, it was bloody awful!

I am trying to lose weight and also have started exercising 4 times a week so I'm hoping to banish it quickly (it seems to be the last half a stone that's made a difference)

For today though, what can I do?

I have odd thighs. I'm not denying I'm now overweight, but even as a size 8-10 I had chub rub, so stopped wearing dresses years ago.

I like the Snag shorts too, but mine always start fraying, whereas the M&S ones are more knicker material that tights, so last longer.

I'll be wearing dresses all summer as they are much comfier than my too tight trousers.

I love sleeping in the M&S shorts too - really comfy

In my experience, and believe me I know what I’m talking about, the only real solution to chub rub is to lose the chub.
The discomfort was one of the things which finally made me want to accept responsibility for my weight & take control of what I chose to put in my mouth.

People are recommending deodorant, and having tried loads on my own personal chub rub I'd recommend a stick/cream type: it works better than roll on and is less sticky.
I also use Primarks cheapest leggings cut down to size, though they are a little thick on the hottest of days... I'm off to buy those Amazon ones now!

I had chub rub at a size 8. I’m now a size 14 and it’s predictably worse than ever. I used to use talc but it is t cutting it for me anymore. Going to try a silicon based anti chafing gel.

Not always. It depends on your body shape. I've been borderline underweight and still get it thanks to my thunder thighs.

I wear Snag Chub Rub shorts. Changed my life! I am not slim yet but I lost 1.5 stone and I still get slight chafing, the shorts are comfy to wear and I get less sweaty 😊
I love all the colours and actually think they look cute under short dresses. I wear Capri tights too.

I used to use poundshop 5 denier tights cut off at the knee before chub rub shorts were invented.

I have had chafing since I was a kid. Even when I was thin. My pelvis is just built that way.

Good for you, but what you say isn’t true. I am short, so my thighs always rub, and have done since I was a very toned, underweight teen. And even though I’m now overweight, the problem is no worse. It is just my body shape.

I had this and in an emergency situation used some glycerine based hand cream I had in my bag. It worked an absolute treat!

Dh has some fancy cream-Bum Bum cream maybe it's called which he sued when hiking. But spendy. I'm sticking with my Aldi Lacura hand cream!

I tried the snag chub rubs - am i the only one who had them roll up massively so they didn't help at all? I get on with their tights fine, I was super disappointed.

I’m reading the OP as being sympathetic there - saying ‘gosh that’s rubbish to get it at size 10’.

My daughter is a size 8 and a perfectly healthy weight but has chunky thighs and wears cycling shorts under dresses to feel more comfortable.

It's a sad reflection on the human race that there is a booming market in chub rub pants😮

My dd is a size 8 waist measurement but has large thighs (and boobs - a beautiful hourglass shape) and gets chub rub so you don't have to be overweight to suffer... . She wears cycling shorts underneath her (very short) dresses. I've heard mention of chub rub bands which I believe are simply strips of material rather then pants or shorts that work well as well. Cant for the life of me remember the name though so not much help their. For today in an emergency though, maybe try vaseline or equivalent rubbed into the inner thigh. May work?!

In what way?

Because for most people (not all), they are needed because the person is overweight. Hence the name.

There is actually a cream called Chub Rub. You can buy it on Amazon. It's brilliant, and means you don't have to wear shorts or tights. I used it on holiday last year, and it was great.

As it can affect anyone of any size the way I prefer to look at it is it's great that chub rub shorts are now mainstream and women don't have to suffer

Nope. Its nothing to do with weight.

Very few women have natural thigh gaps. The vast majority of us do have thighs that touch, regardless of weight.

In the mean time chub rub shorts from snag tights are great
