Chub rub 😖

Bemyclementine · 07/06/2023 07:45

I've put some weight on, and for the first time am understanding the agony if chub rub. I'm wearing a dress to work today (because my trousers are too tight...) and plan to go fir a walk at lunchtime. Last time though, in the warmer weather, it was bloody awful!

I am trying to lose weight and also have started exercising 4 times a week so I'm hoping to banish it quickly (it seems to be the last half a stone that's made a difference)

For today though, what can I do?

@Newnamenewname109870 blimey I'd be annoyed if I got it at size 10! I suppose a lot of my activity in warmer weather involves shorts rather than dresses, but having an office job now I'm trying to do what I can to help hence lunchtime walls in dresses!

You're aware that anyone, any size can get chub rub if their thighs meet, right? So size 10 or size 24, makes no difference if that person's thighs meet and they perspire.
For some people, just because of how they're built, this is their life.
Have a little bit of sympathy or even empathy for those size 10's and beyond who have this as part of their life.

Even primark do the shorts now. £4 a pair.

Mumof1andacat · 07/06/2023 08:40

Asda in the baby section do a liquid talc. Really good at preventing 'chub rub'

This!! Seriously life changers! Sexy they are not but then again neither are sore thighs. Highly recommend them.

Agreed! They are the best things ever. Even if I'm not feeling too rubby I wear them lest a gust of wind shows my arse to everyone.

Snag chub rub shorts, iv tried a few different ones, and these are definitely the best

HeidiUpTheMountain · 07/06/2023 08:42

OP might not need this tip now she’s solved today, but for anyone else: Lanacane Anti Chafing gel is fabulous - it has silicone in it and it last all day. Not greasy or sticky, just reduces the friction to where it doesn’t affect you.

kernowpicklepie · 07/06/2023 08:45

Snag chub rub shorts are amazing. Definitely worth the investment

WizardinTraining · 07/06/2023 08:46

I’m largeish and I get this, I love the Primark cotton cycle shorts - so cheap but comfy and not tooo unstylish.

I also get horrible red raised spots - they’re a bit itchy/sore and look awful 😳 Does anyone else get these and can offer any solutions? I’m very self conscious about them

MenoRageisReal · 07/06/2023 08:50

Marking for recommendations for my friend who was complaining about this - sounds like snag or M&S are best?

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 07/06/2023 08:51

Sainsbury's do long leg pants - much cheaper than M&S or Snag. And they're arguably more comfortable too!

User18540964 · 07/06/2023 09:00

Don't be embarrassed it is definitely body shape rather than weight, some very slim people get it, it's the shape of your bones, I'm size 14 tallish with a large frame 11st, so not particularly slim but don't get this purely because of the shape of my frame which gives me a thigh gap. Hope you find something that works OP

I found them really uncomfortable, too much like sweaty tights. I like Jockey Skimmies

Cycling shorts or there’s this lush talcum powder type thing (I can’t remember the name but it’s in a little white bottle, can anyone else remember?)

Silky underwear?

BiliousOhGod · 07/06/2023 09:06

I usually wear cycle shorts, but if you don't want the extra layers, the Lanacane gel is good. It's pretty much the same base ingredient as facial primer or silicone lube, so feel free to mix'n'match if you have either of the other options to hand.

CrocsOrWarmboots · 07/06/2023 09:07

for the sake of a tenner inc post buy snag chub rub shorts, they are amazing and you will use them

MaryJean87 · 07/06/2023 09:09

I get it as a size 10 and a 16 as I've always had thick thighs. I just wear cycling shorts under dresses.

RichTeaCheddars · 07/06/2023 09:13

Talc or transparent (or even coloured) face powder!

RichTeaCheddars · 07/06/2023 09:13

But after today - definitely chub run shorts. Game changer for me. No matter my size my thighs alway rub!

endofthelinefinally · 07/06/2023 07:53

Cut the lower legs off an old pair of tights. Cut them off just above knee level as they do ride up. Wear the tights like long legged knickers. Works very well.

I do this. Cheaper & more sustainable and also found if you use sheer tights then they're more breathable than shorts

Scousebloke · 07/06/2023 09:18

Savlon cream. As a cure its good but as a prevention its fab. If i know im going to do a lot of walking, for eg when on holiday with my wife and we do some sight seeiing or exploring on foot i put some savlon cream on those bits that rub and it prevents chub rub. The odd occasion i forget, then its gets sore like nappy rash..

BellatrixLestrangesHeatedCurlers · 07/06/2023 09:32

I roll on deodorant, works a treat. I own the Snag chub rubs and they are FANTASTIC but in the heat if you want to be cooler, deodorant is your friend. I get the Sure cotton dry stuff when it's offer and bulk buy it to use under my arms and on my thighs, no chub rub troubles now :)

BellatrixLestrangesHeatedCurlers · 07/06/2023 09:33

Asda do a liquid talc cream in their baby range that was incredible for this too, but they seem to have stopped it in my local asda. It's seriously amazing.

Decafflatteplease · 07/06/2023 09:45

Another vote for snag tights they are a game changer! But for today if you can get to Asda then their liquid talc from the baby aisle it comes in a white tube like a face wash shape tube.

Fwiw I think some people are just built to never have a thigh gap. I had chub rub at 8 stone (size 10) and still do now at 14 stone (size 20)

Mutabiliss · 07/06/2023 09:58

I find the Snag shorts a bit sweaty, the Big Bloomers ones with air holes (Urban design) are my favourites.
