First, Wagner was reported to have withdrawn from Bahkmut, so a location would be important to know. Second, it could easily be down to Russian incompetence, aka friendly fire, as opposed to a deliberate attack.

What does it benefit him to broadcast this? Unless he believes he has a large enough following (of what sort of people?) that they will back him above the Russian state?

He says he has 25,000 following him . He also states that Shoigu went to Rostov to organise this attack, heaven alone knows what is going on

Either someone is pulling Dmitry's leg or Very Interesting Things are happening. Or Priz is bullshitting, which seems the most likely.

(For people without Twitter, the rumour is that Prigozhin has said that Russia made Ukraine its enemy since 2014 and that now he, Prigozhin, is marching on Russia. Tbh it sounds like more bullshit, but time will tell)

"President Putin has been briefed on all events around Prigozhin. The necessary measures are being taken," he said.

The Russian Defense Ministry said earlier on Friday that reports circulating on social media that allege the Russian Armed Forces had delivered a strike on "PMC Wagner encampments in the rear" are false. The ministry also said Russian forces continue to perform combat missions along the line of engagement with Ukrainian forces in the area of the special military operation."

Second story on TASS, lead on Sputnik, Wagner channels putting out a mix of recruiting videos and angry promises of retaliation [image from VK which mirrors Telegram, time stamp is UK].

Age restricted video circulating that shows destruction in a forest and a couple of fires in a trench looks odd.

The sign off after the rant about being attacked in the forest with Shoigu out to destroy Wagner is:

"Join the most powerful army in the world PMC "Wagner"!!!"

Phew, for a moment there I thought the Faberge eggs in Moscow were in danger.

Ok have some some reading. So basically Wagner (a massive group of Russian fighters) used to be on Putin's side, but have been slowly turning against him over time, now they've really gone for it and are taking over TV channels and trying to mount some sort of coup, but this whilst brewing for ages has only just really got going so can be seen as a developing story. Something like that?
