🇺🇸🇺🇦The USA announced a new $325 million aid package.

❗️In the morning in Kryvyi Rih, a Russian missile hit a bottled water warehouse where about 25 civilians worked.
From there, water was brought to the Kherson region for the victims of the destruction of the Kakhovka HPP dam by the Russians.
7 people died in the warehouse, one of them was 17 years old.

"Germany will provide Ukraine with 20 more Marder BMPs," reports the German Embassy in Kyiv

Ukraine is increasing the production of long-range attack drones, the spokesman of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yuriy Ignat said.
"Ukraine is already producing more powerful UAVs with a long-range and a large warhead charge," he said.

Raytheon acknowledges how the Air Forces of Ukraine use the American air defense systems.
The head of the company, Gregory J. Hayes, said that Ukrainian specialists managed to finalize the software of the MIM-104 "Patriot" so that the complex could track and destroy Russian hypersonic missiles.

"There will be no hesitation regarding the use of nuclear weapons in the event of aggression against Belarus."
This was announced by the self-proclaimed president of the Republic of Belarus and, at the same time, loyal vassal of Putin, Lukashenko.

Russian dictator Putin has signed a law that allows the withdrawal of foreign passports from conscripts. A document not submitted without a valid reason is considered invalid.

Between this, the battlefield reports, the rampant corruption, and the anti-protest laws, I am very glad not to be a Russian man at the moment. I suspect these laws will remain in place long after Putin is gone.

The Russians are considering a scenario of blowing up the Crimean Titan enterprise in occupied Armyansk in case of escape or retreat, said Andriy Yusov, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate, on the air of a telethon.
The day before, the GUR reported that Russians were allegedly preparing a terrorist attack on Crimean Titan. They have been mining workshops for several days and planting explosives in the factory and surrounding area. The release of chemicals after an explosion could cause a man-made disaster.

Jim Risch, a senior Republican on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, has blocked the sale of $735 million worth of HIMARS systems and ammunition to Hungary because of Hungary's position on Sweden's NATO membership. [good for him]

🌐A large-scale disinformation campaign about Russia's war in Ukraine has been exposed (https://edition.cnn.com/europe/live-news/russia-ukraine-war-news-06-13-23/h_7209c5731c0b9c449e7d2dc40357a052)in** France. Over the course of the year, 355 web domains were operating on the Internet, publishing pro-Russian content disguised as publications from Europe, the United States, and the Middle East.
For example, 58 fake articles were found in four French media outlets, including the well-known Le Monde and Figaro newspapers. A website that looked like the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote about a fake "security tax" to help Ukraine.

Kadyrov writes that he cannot contact Adam Delimkhanov and asks Ukrainian intelligence to provide information on the exact location and position from which the strike was launched so that he can find his dear BROTHER.
He promises a generous reward and asks for help.
Earlier, a number of Ukrainian media outlets reported that Delimkhanov was killed during the shelling of Prymorsk, Zaporizhzhia region.
Ukrainian partisans report that no ambulances were observed at the site of the strike on the "Svitanok" base in Primorsk, where Delimkhanov was probably located.
Our partisans report that no ambulances were observed at the site of the strike on the "Svitanok" base in Primorsk, where Delimkhanov was probably located.
Combat helicopters were seen transporting the wounded somewhere.

Sobering summary, specially bearing in mind it's only showing attacks where more than 10 died.

Ukraine is likely to receive depleted uranium tank shells from the United States, The Wall Street Journal reports. They will be designed for Abrams tanks.
The White House is also discussing the possibility of supplying Ukraine with cluster munitions.

Sometimes resilience isn't just about enduring the horrific but planning a better future. This is an interesting article on the Kakhovka dam that acknowledges both the damage done by the Russian explosion/neglect and the original 1950s Soviet placement.

https://kyivindependent.com/kakhovka-dam-destruction-disrupts-water-power-supply-but-offers-sustainable-reset/

It's not something I would wish on any country, but it looks like Ukraine wants to use the war to rebuild for the future, especially on renewables. If Germany and Japan did it in the decades after the Second World War, they can, too. It might also be the best way to entice more of the population to come home. There's a conference happening in London next week to address this question:

https://kyivindependent.com/anders-aslund-preparing-for-ukraines-reconstruction/.

Putin will hate that. I still maintain, despite the heartbreaking damage done, that Russia will end up worse off, after this war.

Kakhovka dam destruction disrupts water, power supply but offers sustainable reset

In the early morning of June 6, Russia blew up a major dam in the occupied part of southern Ukraine, causing a humanitarian and ecological crisis. The Kakhovka dam, located on the Dnipro River, is a major waterway running through southeastern Ukraine...

"there is an intense counterbattery duel being fought...The Russians are hunting for Ukraine’s artillery with Lancet UAVs. The Ukrainians are utilising Storm Shadow and GMLRS to try to destroy Russian command and control and munitions stockpiles."

Interesting comments. And does seem to tally which what I'm reading about the battalions that have been committed so far and how much they have committed from other commentators.

Ukraine’s Counteroffensive Begins: Shall the Leopards Break Free?

Ukrainian forces are making gains, but the offensive is some way from its decisive phase; we must refrain from premature pronouncements of success or failure.

We do, so many of us do.

None of us can bring your loved ones back or make it any better, but we can at least keep donating for longer than Putin can keep living, and eviscerating the troll farm employees and shills when they crawl out of their pits. It isn't much but I'm glad it's a comfort.

In turn, I'm so grateful to your loved ones in Ukraine for fighting Russian aggression, because the whole continent benefits. The Ukrainians are doing as much for us as we are for them, if not more.

There seems to be confirmation of this.

https://twitter.com/wartranslated/status/1668922195777581057

The troops sat waiting two hours for the general to show up, all clustered together. The Ukrainians became aware somehow and struck the concentration with Himars missiles. It's really criminally negligent leadership to create high-value targets like that within artillery range of the enemy.

In other Himars news, the US has held up the sale of the system to Hungary until they approve Sweden's application to join NATO.

@IP2022 Just wanted to add that there are others of us (probably many) like myself who mostly lurk here as they don't have much information to add, but are here virtually every day because it is so self evident that this is a war between good and evil and we all really need (the world really needs) good to prevail.

So sorry you and yours are on the frontline, I wish it weren't so, but we all really need you to keep on fighting, praying and helping and we are all willing you and yours on.

One key duty of every officer is what's called force protection. You must do everything reasonably possible to protect your troops from enemy attack. An egregious failure like this would result in a court martial and time in a military prison in any civilized army.

One thing that I have always been curious about is how military can ever have a grudging respect for the enemy? I suppose in a way it could be like a boxer lauding a difficult opponent but personally I feel this is difficult to extrapolate to armed conflict.

Do the Ukrainian army have a hatred of the Russian army or does hatred cloud judgment and lead to a lack of judgment and professionalism. Is it possible to be detached emotionally absolutely from the fight in hand?

I remember my Grandfather never forgave the Germans as a people after WW2. I think was a great shame but understandable given his experience. I guess it will take a couple of generations for the wounds to heal.

Positivethought · 14/06/2023 21:21

Really happy to join you in sending 248th birthday greetings to the U.S. Army. Thanks to the soldiers’ service through the decades and especially their present day support for Ukraine.
