If there is nothing in the diaries he can be confident of being exonerated. I don't really follow the line that they should have quizzed him first - that's not really their job is it?

Does bring to mind Simon Cases supposed comment - "what more can I do to stand up to a Prime Minister that lies?"

DuncinToffee · 27/05/2023 10:40

Here is the slightly longer version, he clearly struggles with the 'no comment' advice from his lawyers (assuming he found some new ones)

Johnson seriously rattled in this clip. Not him ruffling his hair up at the start, the twit.

Note too the way he's started ruffling his hair from the back forwards, to try to cover the bald bits.

Matt Green is quick off the mark - had me laughing within seconds

Rewatched and he has champagne in the backpack 🎒 Grin

Fladdermus · 27/05/2023 13:31

He can't breathe without lying can he. So he says there that there was no socialising and if they asked him what the entries meant he could have told them that. But Rachel Johnson has already confirmed that there was socialising as she said the rules were followed every time she was there ie socialising.

DuncinToffee · 27/05/2023 14:37

JRM and his family visited as well and played cricket, I suppose that can be done socially distanced.

According to the Times, Johnson wanted to release a picture of him and his newborn son together with his mum and sister. They weren't socially distanced so that would have been against the law, the law that Johnson himself reminded the nation of every day.

It might sound petty but so many families stuck to those rules. It's like a drip drip of small things that paint the picture of one rule for them another for us.

Right, so JRM played cricket and then drove back to Somerset. No over night trips? Hhhhmmm.

I was turned back from the car park of our local woods for being too far out of town!

StormShadow · 27/05/2023 16:28

I have actually read something before, years ago, about JRM doing loads of constituency gigs as a favour to various Tory mates and always choosing to drive home afterwards rather than stay, even if it was going to be stupid o'clock when he got home. Think it was around the referendum time, but definitely well pre covid. So I'm actually inclined to believe the no overnights part there. But that doesn't mean the visit was legal, depending on when it happened and why.

DuncinToffee · 27/05/2023 16:44

I don't think he has stated when he and his family visited, there was a huge difference in law between June (rule of 6) and July (gatherings up to 30).

Ok fair play to him. I suppose they probably had drivers if they needed them. I prefer my own bed too.

Given the Mogg family exceeds 6 on their own I'd assume they went when the rule of 6 had finished.

Roussette · 27/05/2023 17:03

His pile is in deepest darkest Somerset and there is no way he would have driven home. Not that I can imagine.

But he does have a £5m five storey home in Westminster.
30 or 40 miles away I imagine from Chequers

RafaistheKingofClay · 27/05/2023 19:31

The mail are running the brothel story again. Who is the MP that found himself in a brothel at 4am without his trousers?

It’s only about 100 miles. He could easily have driven home. Bloody hell, am I really defending Rees Mogg? Have me committed immediately.

tobee · 27/05/2023 19:45

It's always good to be accurate @Blossomtoes

That story always reminds me of the scene on the common in Personal Services after the raid.

He probably had a driver anyway

FFS. Use the money he’s aren’t doing god knows what in the US for the last week. It’s bad enough we’re paying him as an mp and whatever they pay ex PMs. Or legal aid for people who need it and actually can’t afford it. Or fixing the justice system so court buildings aren’t falling down. Or fixing just about everything the Tories broke.

I’d much rather my tax pounds went to not keeping asylum seekers in squalid accommodation. He had 240k he wasted it by being a liar again.

RafaistheKingofClay · 27/05/2023 20:17

My paragraphs have got mixed up there I went back and added stuff. Clearly was too pissed off to add it to the right paragraph.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 27/05/2023 20:18

Nanny won't let Mogg stay out overnight.

DuncinToffee · 27/05/2023 21:32

But Angela Rayner clamed for her air pods and Rachel Reeves flew business class.......Wink
