The lovely bit of your house

So, in my head I have a house straight out of a swanky interiors magazine, but in reality with 2 teenage boys, a full time job and a life, it's a very long way from that.
However, one little corner of the bathroom always gives me joy.
I thought it would be nice to post a picture of the tiny little bit of your house that gives you hope, even if like mine the rest of it is full of discarded trainers, laundry waiting to be put away and last night's left over pizza.

My current favourite bit is this part of the extension we built. I finished a lot of the final touches myself as my husband was stuck overseas during Covid and the builders weren’t allowed to work. The sunsets are amazing but it’s hotter than the surface of the sun in there in summer!

@My20sportraitlady - fabulous moulding very jealous!

It's gorgeous, isn't it? One of the features that sold the house to us. We also have the best skirting boards I have ever seen (my hand to show the height!)

They’re massive! I love original features like this in a room - my friend has just paid an absolute fortune to have a big skirting board added to her new build.

I love your outdoor sofa. May I ask where did you get it from please? Thanks 😊

This bit

Can I ask is that a wirehaired dachshund on the right?

Thanks @MummyJ12 thats very gracious of you, especially for MN. I’m not a stalker but I do worry that people don’t know how easy it is to figure stuff out from info posted online.
Cheers Wineand yes, this is a lovely thread!

But why does it matter? Do you think potential burglars or kidnappers are hanging out on MN casing houses based on photos of your sofa? I don’t get it.

We have a one year old and far too much stuff for our two bedroom flat, but this corner of the sitting room always gives me happy vibes.

Stunning ceiling!

I pretty much dislike everything about our house but having my collection of vintage cameras dotted around the place (this is just a few of them) makes me very happy.

Snap on the camera collection - I have an identical Brownie cinefilm recorder. I like the idea of them being dotted round the house, unfortunately we all hate dusting so they are in a cabinet.

Mines our garden, it’s not Particularly small but it was very overgrown when we moved in and we’ve worked hard on it. I can sit there and it brings me lots of joy

Love the shades, was that custom made?

I am a giant weirdo who mostly keeps the weirdness under control, but I figured our downstairs toilet was the place to give it free rein.

I love this (also a suppressed giant weirdo!)
Where did you get the cat images from? They are great!

They were an impulse buy from IKEA!

They are from an eBay shop called makehaydesigns

No, he’s actually a cockapoo, and looks so “other” that we had him DNA tested and yup, cocker spaniel on mum’s side for five generations, toy poodle on the other for five generations. On the sixth generation the mum is a cocker spaniel Brittany spaniel cross, and we can only imagine his unique look comes from there.

and what a look it is!

Mine would be our second story deck. We live surrounded by a county nature preserve. We BBQ on it year round, but it really shines in the spring and summer. I'm in an area called the Hudson Highlands, so it's borderline suburban/rural.

I love sitting out there on a Saturday morning with my coffee.

Mine is my bathroom. It was awful when we moved in and I had great fun designing it

Going by the outside pic I'd say that's Bridgnorth!

How can you bear to sell up, @LibertyLily ? It’s so gorgeous, and you’ve put so much into it!

Thank you so much 🙂
We just desperately want to be closer to family (5-6 hour drive away currently) so accept we'll have to start over...although not sure I can cope with another project!

Love your beautiful bathroom @Mmotherknowsbest...how do you keep those white stones free of dust though?

Since this thread is still at the top of my watch list… That particular poster has more than once put a picture of her bag collection (probably worth upwards of 6 figures) on the style and beauty forum, so yes, if I was a burglar in her area I might be interested.

Notellinganyone · 17/05/2023 16:48

@kokeshidolls - you’re the only one who cares! Everyone else is having a lovely time in their on paranoid worlds.

familyissues12345 · 18/05/2023 06:52

Love this thread, it looks like my Pinterest board - I have a fascination with quirky interiors even though I live in a boring 20 year old new build SadGrin

Anyway, here's my happy place currently - my garden!
