Pissing down again. AGAIN. I think I’ve had the washing out 3 times this year and it’s mid May.

And just more of the same predicted. Mizzle and fog tomorrow morning😒

It’s blue skies and sunshine where I am. Everything in moderation!

MissyB1 · 11/05/2023 17:33

It’s pissed down here since the beginning of March! Don’t worry I’m sure the water companies will still insist on a hose pipe ban next month 🙄

And if I have to wash down my muddy dog one more time I’m going to scream and scream and scream……

bakermummy21 · 11/05/2023 17:33

Here it's been one day rain, the next sunny then back to rain! It's certainly been an unsettled spring this year!

Lockheart · 11/05/2023 17:59

We had the driest February for 30 years (and indeed we had a very dry winter) followed by a very wet March (wettest for 40 years). We've had quite a bad drought last year and we're projected to have another this year. There are still hosepipe bans in parts of the country.

I'd be taking the rain while I can get it to be honest. We're not out of the woods yet and we need rain for our crops and our reservoirs.

GorgeousLadyofWrestling · 11/05/2023 18:04

Agree very much with @Lockheart - thinking about the drought last summer and the hosepipe band has made me completely reframe how I view rainy days. Very grateful for them now even if I am desperate for some sun.

elm26 · 11/05/2023 18:09

So am I.

It seems to have rained non stop since beginning of March. I'm still walking my dog in winter coat and wellies and it's the middle of May. Can't hang out the washing. Can't enjoy summer clothes, BBQs and pub gardens. It's rotten!

countrygirl99 · 11/05/2023 18:14

This evening there were ducks swimming in the puddles in the horses field. We've had to put electric fencing up to keep them on the driest 3rd of the field and that's still realy soft. Luckily with all this rain the grass is growing as quickly as they eat it so they aren't running out. They are usually out 24/7 at the beginning of May but goodness knows when it will be this year. Trouble is hay is now in short supply locally as last year was so dry.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 11/05/2023 18:32

But the reservoirs near me are fuller than I’ve ever seen them! They were so low in summer and now they are overflowing!

Agree, OP. I've sick to death of the chuffing rain. Can't wait for a bit of sunshine.

mydogisthebest · 11/05/2023 18:35

Sick of the rain and how cold it is. I have been wearing my thick winter jacket since October.

TheChosenTwo · 11/05/2023 18:35

I just miss sitting in the garden!
went for a walk at lunchtime and it was blue skies until about 7 minutes in when it absolutely pissed it down. Went for a walk after work - same thing although this time i had taken my jacket. I don’t want to wear a jacket every day in May 😭
and it may have been dry in February but that’s no consolation when it’s 3 degrees and grey - I don’t get any enjoyment sitting in my garden then either!!
But I don’t disagree that it’s probably good for something.
OP, I’m with you though: fed up of endless grey drizzly weather.

TheInterceptor · 11/05/2023 18:40

I'm guessing you're in Cornwall, OP!

Wintersgirl · 11/05/2023 18:40

I know how you feel OP, I'm sick of it too! I love Autumn and Winter but only in Autumn and Winter iyswim. I don't want this type of weather in May I want warmth!

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 11/05/2023 18:41

No, I’m in Sheffield. And it’s been shit. In fact we keep saying ‘This is Cornwall weather!’

(Many holidays in Cornwall!)

Sick of it too op.
I was saying to a friend the other day - so far where I am (NW england) I'd say there's only been 1 or 2 days max where you could get away with shorts and even then it's only usually in the afternoon and we're almost at mid May.

In 4 months we'll be mid September when weather starts to turn so less than a 1/3 of a year will be warm and you know that in that period we'll still have cold/rainy days.

I really struggle when so much of the year where I live is damp, cold and grey Sad

RisingSunn · 11/05/2023 18:45

I agree OP. I was thinking earlier today that it’s mid May and I still haven’t packed my winter coat away.

MuffinToSeeHere · 11/05/2023 18:49

I'd just like to be able to wash my bloody winter coat and dry it without putting in the fudging heating, it's not to much to ask surely.

We've had about 5 dry (note I said dry not sunny) days since the beginning of April! I'm so over rain and muddy autumnal dog walks.

Mindymomo · 11/05/2023 18:50

I agree, we were in the Peak District last week and only had one day that was dry, had enough now. They are still saying we are going to have a lovely summer, let’s continue to hope.

MadeForFun · 11/05/2023 18:50

Totally agree, OP. I would love a bit of warmth and sunshine now!

It's been murky and raining the last two bank holiday weekends. The sun came out on Tuesday but I was back to work by then. Raining by the time I got home. Today has been lovely here but instead of going for a walk or sitting out after work, I've had to cut the grass because the forecast for this coming weekend? Rain. Again. 🙃

Justbetweenus · 11/05/2023 18:51

I put shorts on today for the first time this year, then had to get changed into something warmer about 2 hours later. 😩 Give us some warmth!!

Opt1234 · 11/05/2023 18:51

Nice garden

Oblomov23 · 11/05/2023 18:55

I too am fed up. May is often lovely. Not this May!

hamustro · 11/05/2023 18:59

Yes! It feels like spring hasn't properly sprung and it's mid May. It's just been the same old shite weather for coming on 8 months and I'm bored of it.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 11/05/2023 19:00

I live in the border of the Peak District. I can confirm it’s been shite
