Pissing down again. AGAIN. I think I’ve had the washing out 3 times this year and it’s mid May.

And just more of the same predicted. Mizzle and fog tomorrow morning😒

It’s been dry and sunny all week here (SW Wales). We have friends over for a BBQ at the moment. It’s a beautiful evening ☀️

whoruntheworldgirls · 11/05/2023 19:05

Off topic but i also have that bird bath and mine drunkenly tilts too 😂
On topic i am so so sick of the weather. Sunday was beautiful here but other than that it's been miserable

QueefQueen80s · 11/05/2023 19:07

Okay this is gonna sound a bit conspiracy theorist, I am anything BUT..
I was told about this recently and can confirm it's literally on the gov website.
A big reason it's so cloudy and rainy this spring is because planes are up there all day specifically to "create" cloud. At first people thought it was too create rain for crops, make sure reservoirs stay full etc. But apparently it's to create a barrier to block the sun so the earth cools down. Sounds crazy but it's on the gov website that they are doing this.

Crikeyalmighty · 11/05/2023 19:09

I still have got the heating clicking on plus wearing my padded coat .

Don't be so flippin daft

Sunnycornwallanddevon · 11/05/2023 19:11

and you ARE a conspiracy theorist if you believe that utter crap

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 11/05/2023 19:11

@whoruntheworldgirls

l hate that bloody thing! The plants die at the bottom because the soil can’t be deep enough. The birds show no interest in the food bit. The only reason l keep it is because the birds actually use the bath.!

I'm in West Yorkshire. I feel like there's a been a few pleasant warm and sunny days over the past few weeks. I've got the garden chairs out and sat outside. Yes, some rain but that's normal, right?

EversoDisorganised · 11/05/2023 19:12

Yes, May is usually my favourite month, long evenings, warm but not too hot. I can see we're going to go straight from this to another heatwave which I hate.

Greyandwhitecat · 11/05/2023 19:14

Agree. It's been awful.

ShowOfHands · 11/05/2023 19:14

I don't have a tumble dryer. I've dried outside consistently since March. It's so funny how different weather is across the country.

It has rained today but I've dried washing twice (first load was out 7am-10am and second 3pm - 6pm, heavy rain between those times).

Crickey how warm is it where you are that washing dries in just a few hours! I had some out yesterday from 7-2 and it still needed finishing off inside on the heated airer as whilst it was dry outside there was no breeze or sun, just a sad overcast sky.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 11/05/2023 19:20

I’ve used the tumble dryer more in the last 2 months than over the entire winter.

Say what now?

Because we are having the opposite problem... We are smack bang in autumn and still having summer weather.

And no planes are up above arranging that.

It's climate change, not a cloud creator aeroplane.

whoruntheworldgirls · 11/05/2023 19:21

Same here, I'll get a new one at some point but it's low on the list. I've got bricks in the bottom part to keep it from toppling over!

mondaytosunday · 11/05/2023 19:22

It's spring. And just wait, in a couple months you'll be moaning it's too hot!

RaininSummer · 11/05/2023 19:22

It's really depressing. Summer will seem short this year.

saltrock123 · 11/05/2023 19:23

Can you send some rain over to the Med please we are in desperate need ! I'm sick of the heat already and it's only May !

Happily!!! What's your address and how much do you want, please note I'm only shipping by the water butt full as there isn't enough bottles or buckets to contain the constant downpours. 😅

Mimilamore · 11/05/2023 19:30

Wonderful sunny day in SE today from about noon, still sunny now.... so rare I almost did a celebratory dance and the day was soooo much nicer for it...

AlmostWhitby · 11/05/2023 19:38

As per my UN I'm on the NE coast, we've had some heavy showers and then sunshine, today has been dry and sunny except about 3 raindrops and the fields etc are actually quite dry, although when it's rained it's really come down hard.

Fluffy40 · 11/05/2023 19:42

I keep putting stuff off because of the weather forecast, then it does the opposite! I give up

742EvergreenTerrace · 11/05/2023 19:47

Live in the south where we’ve had a total of 5 sunny days… half of those were cloudy also. This has been the wettest start of the year surely, it has rained every day. Was February really that dry? I remember it raining at a kids party I was at. I helped tidy up and take stuff to the car and getting soaking wet for helping 🙄

Blueisthecolour1 · 11/05/2023 19:51

Bloody effing rain showers where I am, interspersed with tricksy half-hour bursts of sunshine. I got deceived and accordingly hung out the washing, only for it to literally pelt down 10 mins later. And because I was on the school run the clothes & sheets were soaked by the time we got back.

Really love May usually, it’s a beautiful month but this year it looks to be a washout. Was talking to my dad about it, he said he remembers whole summers like it in his childhood. Warm & drizzly and sometimes days upon days of rain. The problem I find is this temperamental weather gives us all colds & coughs & sneezes.

AlmostWhitby · 11/05/2023 19:58

Was February really that dry?

Yes it was here, the horses field that would normally be a nightmare for getting barrows of 💩 through was dry, without the normal plodging up around the gateways and field shelter either. And in fact it only got really bad after it had snowed, so I think it was a fairly dry winter too.

March was a different story though!
