Pissing down again. AGAIN. I think I’ve had the washing out 3 times this year and it’s mid May.

And just more of the same predicted. Mizzle and fog tomorrow morning😒

I live in the Peak District so I’m used to crap weather but this is awful. Wet dog all day because we get soaked on every walk. Still in my winter coat, jist rain every day🥲 I don’t even love summer, I just want pleasant & dry days.

MuffinToSeeHere · 12/05/2023 19:36

I'm so envious of those with even dry days let alone those who have sun! I can't remember the last time I walked the dog without getting wet and I'm sure myself and my neighbours are now just wearing the same outfit for every walk aka a giant winter coat and wellies that are still slightly damp from the last walk.

Sorry if I sound bitter but I've just got drenched on yet another walk and even the dogs beginning to think fuck that for a game of soldiers when I grab the lead.

Somerset Levels. 18 degrees today. Humid so feels warmer. We have a bit of microclimate too and it tends to only rain overnight now, at least where I am. Light drizzle on the very odd day at best. It is very strange. We always had mild winters but it used to rain heavily throughout the year, even summer was unpredictable with drizzle and off-on overcast/blue skies. It's shifted in the last decade or so. Our summers are long and very hot now, 35+ and the humidity makes it feel even more extreme. 😭

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 12/05/2023 20:09

I'm sitting under a blanket with a fleecy hoodie and sheepskin slippers on. ☹️🥶

megletthesecond · 12/05/2023 21:10

6 weeks until the longest day and we haven't had spring yet.

BeeBowBeeBow · 12/05/2023 21:17

I watch the forecast beofre I go to work and I ALWAYS get my coat wrong.

Forecast: 16degrees with mix of sun and cloud - I wear thin jacket and freeze to death in the pissy non forecast rain

forecast: rain and cloudy intervals 10degrees - I boil to death in thick jacket.

I swear everyone else I see gets it right

shitty May weather and shitty forecasters

kitsuneghost · 12/05/2023 21:24

What weather did you expect mid May
Mid May is always rain (and occasionally snow) and we are always shocked
Enjoy it. It will be unbearably hot soon enough.

Everynightisday · 12/05/2023 21:26

It’s shit, I’m still wearing a winter jacket whereas any other year in mid of May I would be wearing tshirts and flip flops.

It's been lovely by this time in May the last few years, I remember last Eurovision I went to a friend's, had a BBQ, got home after midnight and went and had a drink in my garden as it was still so warm.

And I certainly won't be complaining about it being too hot, I love the heat.

Crikeyalmighty · 12/05/2023 21:43

I'm afraid the heating went on again!

Where do you live? I've never seen snow in May! Memories keep popping up on my phone of this time last year, the year before etc and 99% of them are photos of us at a BBQ or on a day out in shorts and a cami with sandals. Never known it to be this wet ☹️

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 12/05/2023 22:24

I’ve seen snow in May a lot! When was the last lockdown? 2022? It bloody snowed in May then.

I don't know what to wear today! It feels cold, but it's meant to brighten up later, but once I'm out I'm out for the day and won't have time to come back and change and also I don't want to wear winter clothes, I'm sick of the sight of them!!

Spottycarousel · 13/05/2023 14:01

Today is glorious for a change!

It’s been dry and sunny all week here (SW Wales). We have friends over for a BBQ at the moment. It’s a beautiful evening ☀️

I wouldn't be very happy if I went to a friend's BBQ and the host was sat on mumsnet!

My daughter's birthday is in May and every single birthday we've had an outside party. Her first birthday, we moved indoors because it was too hot.

May is changeable and can be very wet, chilly, occasionally freezing and sometimes hot. Last May we went on holiday to Gloucester and barely left the outdoor pool. It was gloriously warm.

Spudlet · 13/05/2023 14:25

Blooming cold here in Norfolk today, my fingers are like icicles! I think I have Reynauds (doctor’s appointment booked to try and find out) and this winter and spring have been bad for my little corpse fingers. Which is excellent when you’re a massage therapist - people LOVE having the cold hands of death on their backs 😬😳

That said, Wednesday was a lovely day here so hoping for more of that soon 🤞

MuffinToSeeHere · 13/05/2023 15:13

Psst we have sun...actual bona fide genuine sunshine...I feel like I'm imagining it and sods law it was freezing this morning so I left the house in a fudging jumper so I'm very overdressed but it's nice to know it actually exists and it's beyond nice to have something other than grey and rain ☔.

lavenderlou · 13/05/2023 15:30

Jealous of those with sun today. I hung out the washing in anticipation of the forecast sunshine and warm temperatures but it's 13 degrees and overcast here (East). Had the fire on last night!

It did look beautiful in Liverpool earlier.

Alighttouchonthetiller · 13/05/2023 15:49

Forecast promised 20 degrees and sun. It's cloudy and about 11 degrees.

Fucking crap. Again.

I don't like really hot weather, but this nonsense is proper shite.

APurpleSquirrel · 13/05/2023 17:44

It has been beautiful & sunny & warm today here in Somerset - hoping it stays this way. Actually did a bit of gardening!

I put washing out at 8.30 this morning. Heavier items are still not dry.

countrygirl99 · 13/05/2023 18:33

To make things worse my son has just called from Finland where it's 22

Wintersgirl · 13/05/2023 21:08

Yay! It hit 20c in Sussex today, really quite warm, it was so lovely to see some sunshine but I have a feeling it won't last though!
