Pissing down again. AGAIN. I think I’ve had the washing out 3 times this year and it’s mid May.

And just more of the same predicted. Mizzle and fog tomorrow morning😒

To those saying it is May - May often used to be pretty warm, we have had warmer Mays than June and July.

Yes May is usually very changeable but not this wet.

Wonderful sunny day in SE today from about noon, still sunny now.... so rare I almost did a celebratory dance and the day was soooo much nicer for it...

I do t know where you are in the south east. It rained from 4-7 and I got soaked on my walk home again.

Really sick of it now. It’s so so grey

Very true because May, and sometimes April, used to be red hot. I remember easter mornings being blinding when waking up from the sun outside.

In all honestly I think the UK is getting colder. I used to get away with a long sleeved, thin jumper in winter and snow never stayed coating the ground. The sun would still be out in winter, not just dark clouds everyday.

If this is geoengineering, I wouldn't be surprised tbh.

justcantgetenough · 12/05/2023 12:59

Yes, just some sunshine and not too hot, got absolutely drenched yesterday on my bike, went right through to my underwear! (Yes I need better waterproofs) was forecast light showers, 2hrs off heavy rain is not a light shower!

1hr ride, took 2hrs as kept stopping to shelter but then gave up as was too wet anyway! Got in, out off my wet clothes, had a shower and came out to blue skies and no more rain, typical!

It really has been mostly shit and depressing so far, but it’s only May. I can’t bear those people who start moaning about “that’ll be our summer over then” after one day of sun and one of rain. It doesn’t help, it’s just bloody miserable to be around. And actually today is turning out quite nice.

May, June and July are usually are nice months though. August tends to be grey and rainy a lot.

Seasonofthewitch83 · 12/05/2023 13:18

Rain every day here in SE. The bug situation is already WILD. The mosquitos are bigger than the spiders at the moment.

Shitzandgigglez · 12/05/2023 13:27

I'm probably in the minority here but I'm glad that we haven't had too many warm days so far. No doubt we'll have some sort of mini heat wave come July and August but I'm enjoying every extra day of drizzle and grey skies before I have to put up with annoying neighbours and their screaming children, loud music and annoying humming hot tub! In my opinion hot weather brings out the worst in some people.

The only plus side to this shitty weather is that I haven’t had to shave my legs yet !

I do love a silver lining but at this rate by the time we all get round to shaving our legs a razor isn't going to be sufficient we're gonna need heavier machinery. Blush

It's grey and cold here today, surprise surprise. We've had 2 showers already and the sky is once again looking ominous.

the80sweregreat · 12/05/2023 13:52

I don't mind it cooler and rainy as I loath the heatwave that will probably come in July or august ! I know many people who hate this weather though, but we need water and we don't want to end up running dry.

I'm with you @Shitzandgigglez my neighbour let's her kids scream all bloody day then joins in with lots of YAYYYYY YAYYYY YAY! 🙄

Also sorry everyone I bought a portable air conditioner so I've pretty much guaranteed it'll be crap all summer. 😬

Spottycarousel · 12/05/2023 17:04

Tomorrow looks promising, fingers crossed. Today has been really cold.

lovemycottage · 12/05/2023 17:06

20 degrees here, blue sky without clouds.🌞🏖

lunaloveroo · 12/05/2023 17:17

Gorgeous where I am. Been sunbathing all afternoon.

Where are you!!! I'm so envious. We've had grey clouds more fucking rain and it's blowing a gale. if I tried to sunbath I'd end up being carted away for psychological evaluation. 🤣

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 12/05/2023 17:22

10-11 degrees. Grey sky, cold damp. Heating on. Mid May😏

I got an extra 2 water butts after mine emptied early last summer so Im guilty too.

whenindoubtgotothelibrary · 12/05/2023 19:10

Cold wet and windy all day where I am in London. Very fed up with it.

lunaloveroo · 12/05/2023 19:11

@MuffinToSeeHere i'm in north down, Northern Ireland. Warmest day of year today but hotter tomorrow

Strawberrypicnic · 12/05/2023 19:14

Totally agree, I grew up in the rainy northwest and now live in London and one of the things I most love about it here is that you properly feel the change of seasons, spring is usually mild-to-warm and sunny for a decent amount of the time. Not so this year or last year in fact. We've had the heating on today. I know there are worse things in life than bad weather but the grey is starting to feel really oppressive!

Wishawisha · 12/05/2023 19:19

Lockheart · 11/05/2023 17:59

We had the driest February for 30 years (and indeed we had a very dry winter) followed by a very wet March (wettest for 40 years). We've had quite a bad drought last year and we're projected to have another this year. There are still hosepipe bans in parts of the country.

I'd be taking the rain while I can get it to be honest. We're not out of the woods yet and we need rain for our crops and our reservoirs.

Whilst I kind of agree with this, I checked my local water company and they report that reservoirs are near completely full (fairly unusual) and that ground water levels are good / higher than usual. As a result, I don’t really feel like any more rain locally is benefitting any of us right now so I feel like I’m allowed to moan!
