Pissing down again. AGAIN. I think I’ve had the washing out 3 times this year and it’s mid May.

And just more of the same predicted. Mizzle and fog tomorrow morning😒

I'm in London and it's shitty here too. We get a few hours of sun here and there but otherwise it's bloody freezing and grey and wet and depressing.

Yeah, weather this morning is gross, but it’s sunny both days this weekend!

DustyLee123 · 12/05/2023 09:38

You need to move up north, it’s glorious !

Where in the north? I am East Midlands and it's been awful weather. Today is cold and grey again. 13 degrees I believe it will get to today!

Catspyjamas17 · 12/05/2023 09:42

We need cloud busting not cloud seeding.

So sick of this weather😭

Our forecast is predicting highs of 11 degrees today! 11 fucking degrees in May! I suppose at least it hasn't rained so far today so I should be thankful for the small things.

WildFlowerBees · 12/05/2023 09:46

It was the same last year! Then so many people were sick of the unbearable heat (I was one of them) and it was decent until late winter.

Why do people still expect to have nice weather in spring? It's biblical until late May/June.

x2boys · 12/05/2023 09:47

I blame Brexit.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 12/05/2023 09:52

I'm sick of having to wear boots. Surely it should be sandal weather by now? I dare t even risk trainers as it's so wet and muddy everywhere.

APurpleSquirrel · 12/05/2023 10:03

I'm on Devon/Somerset border & we've had thunderstorms most of the week with flash floods. On Tuesday it was so bad in a local town the flooding cut off the primary school, meaning parents couldn't collect their children till the early evening when the water had receded.
Can't do anything in the garden as it's just too wet & muddy.
Forecast for this weekend is better though so fingers crossed.

I blame Brexit.

Actually, the EU would do a sun-dance every year and now we've lost access to another privilege and will have to get used to shorter summers. Our sun-dances aren't effective on their own but it's what we voted for. Thanks a lot Brexit!

Inc0gn1to · 12/05/2023 10:16

My kids have had numerous sports fixtures cancelled due to rain this school year - the latest being a tournament today that they have trained a year for. Ground is waterlogged - in mid May! It's depressing. Sad

countrygirl99 · 12/05/2023 10:30

Horses at our yard have never been in at night past 1st weekend in May before. Fields are waterlogged and have no idea when they will go out 24/7. Last night there were ducks swimming in one of the puddles. We are in a normally very dry area.

Okay this is gonna sound a bit conspiracy theorist, I am anything BUT..
I was told about this recently and can confirm it's literally on the gov website.
A big reason it's so cloudy and rainy this spring is because planes are up there all day specifically to "create" cloud. At first people thought it was too create rain for crops, make sure reservoirs stay full etc. But apparently it's to create a barrier to block the sun so the earth cools down. Sounds crazy but it's on the gov website that they are doing this.

I know cloud seeding is something that is done in some places but I can't see anywhere that it's being done in the uk?
Would be interested in a link please.

SirenSays · 12/05/2023 10:40

My ten day forecast says it's either going to be cold and grey or raining 🌧 I'm sick of it.

Tessisme · 12/05/2023 10:42

Welcome to our world - in NI it rains all the sodding time. Today, however, is glorious. And my washing is happily drying outside for once. Whole house was starting to look like a laundry room.

Bleepbloopbluurp · 12/05/2023 10:46

I'm in Sussex and it has been rubbish. We still have winter duvets on, the Aga is still lit (eating my money FFS) and yesterday the lawn was frosty in the morning.
BUT the forecast for the weekend looks rather different. It's then back to business as usual (rain) of course but the thought of being able to spend a couple of days outside without a jumper is really nice. Let's hope I haven't jinxed it by getting too excited.

Bbq1 · 12/05/2023 11:06

Bit of a micro climate here in Liverpool. Often the warmest place in the country. Granted, it hasn't been the best month but there has been west, sunny days. I feel the heat though and have been in sandals for weeks and will remain so until October!

CurlewKate · 12/05/2023 11:10

@QueefQueen80s Link, please. Should be easy if it's a government website.

LoobyDop · 12/05/2023 12:07

It really has been mostly shit and depressing so far, but it’s only May. I can’t bear those people who start moaning about “that’ll be our summer over then” after one day of sun and one of rain. It doesn’t help, it’s just bloody miserable to be around. And actually today is turning out quite nice.

elliejjtiny · 12/05/2023 12:25

Yanbu. My washing is piling up and ds4 has wet the bed again for the 3rd time this week so I'm trying to dry sheets as well.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 12/05/2023 12:35

Its cold and grey round me.

The only plus side to this shitty weather is that I haven’t had to shave my legs yet !

callingeveryone · 12/05/2023 12:42

I agree OP. It has been a downpour all day today. Very depressing.

Bluevelvetsofa · 12/05/2023 12:44

I’m on the south coast, in what is supposed to be one of the sunniest places in England and with a micro climate because of the South Downs. No one has told the weather though, so it’s a glimpse of sun, then cold, grey windy and wet. Looks like it’s just started raining gain.

callingeveryone · 12/05/2023 12:46

To those saying it is May - May often used to be pretty warm, we have had warmer Mays than June and July.
