Just a reminder that the first cost of living payment of £301 will start being paid from today. Any time up until May 17th. Keep an eye on your bank accounts!

Nothing for me yet. I've got 87p til Fridays carers allowance @Beachbreak2411 . I would genuinely split it with you if I could 😂 I hope you're ok though. Due universal credit on the 4th so maybe then?

@Onemyownhere not sure what child support has to do with it?
If he claims universal credit, and had a payment during the qualifying period he will get the cost of living payment

sanityisamyth · 25/04/2023 08:04

Nothing here. I moved from TC to UC in March so hope I don't fall through the gap

I'm just stating his on low income that's why mentioned child support

Annoyingwurringnoise · 25/04/2023 08:07

Got mine today. Last name near the start of the alphabet.

dozydoo · 25/04/2023 08:09

Mine isn't in yet, but I'm sure it'll be any day, like everyone else we're running a bit low on money too, (not as bad as others though) but know it's coming (soon, hopefully!)

dozydoo · 25/04/2023 08:09

Also surname quite close to beginning of alphabet

If u haven't received a text a letter yet does that mean u won't be getting the payments? Asking for a friend who is claiming on a single person over 25 uc credit

I don’t think I got a text or a letter but I was notified by UC by email, it was ages ago just needs to cheaply payments section on his s account if he received in Feb/ March he will get col.

Cherylliam86 · 25/04/2023 08:19

Brother in law received his today he’s on ESA, my husband is self employed but we did get a little UC in the qualifying period so I’m sure I will get it 😁

foiswood · 25/04/2023 12:00

My friend started claiming UC in March and said she won't receive anything. That doesn't seem fair as she's really struggling.

I've just posted about my friend who is in the same situation. I think she moved from legacy benefits also.

happyinherts · 25/04/2023 12:06

All unfair. My husband's a pensioner and only had the extra winter fuel money last November, which didn't stretch to helping with two quarters of fuel bills - and obviously didn't receive any extra payments during the year. I'm looking for work, but at over 60 my options are limited. Can't claim UC. Can't claim Pension Credit for another 5 years, despite now not having the savings.

We didn't get one as we got a nil award that month. Guess there has to be a cut off point. Maybe she will receive the next one?

I wonder if it goes by the date you are paid your UC?

Have you got enough food in? You can go to a food bank if necessary.

Hoping for you for tomorrow!

I get UC top up so should receive it, haven't had it yet, middle alphabet

myheartmyhead · 25/04/2023 13:37

@HistoryFanatic we had this for one last year, made bonus at work so got a nil award during the qualifying month!

I'm really not sure! I hope she no longer has to claim to UC and has found a job ( separated from her husband in the last few weeks). I get the impression it hasn't been a pleasant experience, the UC claim, but don't know the details.

Same here though have a few quid more than you do.

Fingers crossed for both of us.

Surname beginning of the alphabet, though it doesn't look like its to do with that as some have beginning of alphabet surnames and not got it and others have.

AllIeveknewonlyou · 25/04/2023 13:49

Might be random computer generated I guess

Most of the time it is fine. This month we got nothing because they messed up the wages for February. Not often the case though.

Yep! It was annoying.

Highworth · 25/04/2023 14:19

@happyinherts why can you not claim UC?

itsgettingweird · 25/04/2023 14:20

Got mine.

Surname begins with B!

happyinherts · 25/04/2023 14:22

@Highworth Because a married couple cannot be in receipt of UC and State Pension (I'm told). I gave up job to care for an elderly member of family, now deceased, and trying to get back into work. If govt had not moved retirement age, I would have qualified for my own State Pension now / Pension Credit. It's easy not to fall into set categories!!!
