Bananas?

The look. The taste. The smell. The feel. Just everything!

Typing this while 9 month old DD is happily shovelling huge bits of banana into her mouth 🤮

God yeah. Ate one when I was pregnant and it made me so sick, that years later I can only tolerate the odd one (and it has to be most unripe and firm/tasteless as possible) 😝

Unicorn34 · 22/04/2023 11:19

Not bananas but tomatoes - epitome of evil! I like tomato based sauces etc but not an actual tomato!

WouldJudasLeaveIt · 22/04/2023 11:21

I love a banana milkshake but can’t eat bananas at all 🤢

WouldJudasLeaveIt · 22/04/2023 11:22

And yeah that squishy noise babies make when they eat them 🤢😑

Saucery · 22/04/2023 11:23

They have to be green with only a hint of yellow. Can’t stand anything banana flavoured. The Banana Bread Lockdown Frenzy passed me by Grin

ModerationInEverything · 22/04/2023 11:24

I agree. The texture reminds me of phlegm
🤢

youngestisapsycho · 22/04/2023 11:27

Urgh I hate them… taste, texture… they’re just wrong 😆

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 22/04/2023 11:28

No, but I’m not mad about them. And they have to have zero black over-ripe bits.
What repulses me is meat fat (unless it’s on very crisped-up streaky bacon.). How anyone can enjoy that loathsome stuff defeats me.

averythinline · 22/04/2023 11:33

agree devils work! remember eating as sandwiches when i was a kid ...not since....they ruin so many smoothies/cakes etc. vile.. dc ate as babies but not since toddlers! dh only eater here... I blame them for global warming as well ...

DarkDarkNight · 22/04/2023 11:38

I can only handle banana at a very specific stage. The skin must be yellow with a tiny bit of green at the top. Tom green and they are still hard in the middle, any brown at all and I can’t eat them. They go all powdery and I can’t bear it.

WhatTheHeckyPeck · 22/04/2023 11:39

Bananas are ok...cucumbers, on the other hand, are the Devil's food.

FredWinnie · 22/04/2023 11:39

I clicked into this thread just as I was tucking into a thick banana sandwich

Sorry. I'll get my coat 😆

@MummyToZ

I'm gone. I'm gone.

As you were.

Nothing to see here

Twinklewonderkins · 22/04/2023 11:47

@WhatTheHeckyPeck cucumbers are evil, the pollute everything they touch.
I also hate their drag cousin melon.

ReadtheReviews · 22/04/2023 11:49

I used to have bad dreams about eating a banana and it tasting horrible. Woild wake up feeling sick. In real life I like them if they are a bit green. Especially in a sandwich with peanut butter!

SoftCoeur · 22/04/2023 11:50

Yes, I've always hated them.

When I was little my mum made me pancakes that tasted weird and had a different texture. I asked why and she admitted she'd added mashed banana to try and trick me into eating them 🤮

BETRAYED

Never forgotten that! And never fully trusted her pancakes after. I'd always ask if she'd added anything!

DRS1970 · 22/04/2023 11:50

I love bananas, you are weird.

Tighginn · 22/04/2023 11:51

The only food, I won't eat! Found my people say last!

Littlemissprosecco · 22/04/2023 11:53

My Dd ruined bananas for me! I couldn’t eat them when I was pregnant with her, she still can’t eat them( she’s 21!) . And I still can’t!!

TheFretfulPorpentine · 22/04/2023 11:54

I love them, but only if they are at a specific stage of ripeness. Any hint of green or brown is unacceptable. Quite a few get wasted in my house because there is a limit to how much banana bread you can bake.

Nounoufgs · 22/04/2023 11:56

Yessss. Sludge. Ooze. The squish of overripe bananas as they burst on touching, leaking their gelatinous insides all over your hands. The smell. Eurgh

Thelastofbus · 22/04/2023 11:57

Bananas and eggs are the same to me. Lovely when they are JUST right, vom inducing when they not.

PBandJs · 22/04/2023 11:59

Yes! The smell alone makes me gag, and the taste and noise people make when eating them is terrible.

currently pregnant with my first and I’m already thinking about weaning, if I have to eat it to encourage the baby 😩 hoping DH can be all the encouragement they need as he loves them 🤢

Twinklewonderkins · 22/04/2023 11:59

my ex mil once made a Sharwoods jar type chicken tikka masala and padded it out with banana because she was worried it wouldn’t have enough meat to go round.
tasted awful of course and had a mucous like texture …was one of the worst things I’ve ever tasted.
