@Furries suggested this one so if no one replies, it's on her Grin

I'll start:

Raffles in Singapore
Casablancas in Liverpool (the one with the chippy in the basement)
The Underground in Croydon

Do hotel bars count...

Only if non-guests can drink in them.

Fair. Pretty sure this one was open to non-residents but not sure if anyone would actually choose to do it...

So much red velvet.

Sean's Bar Athlone - oldest licenced pub in Ireland and Top of the Coom- highest pub in Ireland. Regatta Pub, Brisbane

Yes to Sean's Bar 😁

What about Bozo's nightclub Athlone? It was a million years ago though when I was there.

Skyview Bar at the Burj Al Arab

I’ve been there. Have also stayed there. The mirror on the ceiling above the bed along with the mirror above the headboard were responsible for me trying to suck so many of my flabby bits in all at once that I almost passed out - but not in a good way though my husband still thinks it was . 😜

Hotel Cap Eden-Roc. Not cheap but very, very nice. Some random place near Lake Balaton in Hungary where they served the wine out of the barrel. A big group of us got trollied for £10. Up the Oxo Tower. 😁Chuy's in Austin, Texas. The executive lounge in the Waldorf Astoria.

Two Trees in Union Street, Plymouth or even Boobs nightclub in Plymouth

Been to both of these.
I was mistaken for Jennifer Aniston in Two Trees and could only shake the men off by autographing a napkin for them, as if Jennifer Aniston would be out on the town in fucking Union Street.
I think it’s been knocked down now, and rightly so.

MrsRinaDecker · 09/04/2023 21:52

I’ll try the underground in Dundee, and a nightclub in London that had a swimming pool (no one else remembers it, but I think it might have been called Aqua..)

The China Fleet Club ..... memories of hong Kong coming back!

I don't really understand this game but aren't you supposed to say if you have been to one that someone previously mentioned? If that is the aim, surely you've been to Mes Amis? I've been to Club 71 and the China Fleet Club, I don't remember a Mad Dog on Hollywood Road though.

PollyThePixie · 09/04/2023 21:55

I’ll try the underground in Dundee

I’m sorry but I’ve been there.

I have one for you though - how about Hungry Mary’s in Dundee

RampantIvy · 09/04/2023 21:57

I have drunk in The Cartoon @glasshouse

Here's mine:
Stocks Hotel bar, Sark
The Star Inn, Netherton, Northumberland
Hop77, Ashington

MrsRinaDecker · 09/04/2023 21:57

@PollyThePixie not to my knowledge! I’ll raise you the old Fat Sam’s or deja vu??

letsgotothebeach · 09/04/2023 21:58

Pelican Bar - a shack in the water off Treasure Beach Jamaica. You have to go by boat. My name is carved onto the wooden floor along with many others!

@MrsTerryPratchett I've drunk in Raffles, Singapore and got very drunk, fairly often in The Underground, Croydon. Great club with great bands.

My offerings. Le Beat Route, Greek Street, Soho.
Lynotts, Achill
The Cartoon, back to Croydon.

@glasshouse

I was in the Cartoon in Broad Green, Croydon the night it opened. BTW they used the flats next to it for the exterior shots of "Peep Show".

My offering is:
The Clockhouse, Leather Lane.

😂😂

Been a few times for drinks or lunch and always been planning to stay….your experience has made me reconsider!

Kenzi Bar, Flic en Flac, Mauritius
The Conquering Hero, Beulah Hill, with the live pig in the bar
The Trip To Jerusalem, Nottingham

I have worked in The Trip in Nottingham.

The sadly now-defunct Puff Inn on St Kilda - the ex-officers' mess at the missile tracking station there;12 hours by boat from the outer edge of the Outer Hebrides.

RampantIvy · 09/04/2023 22:05

Does The Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo, California count?
we had a meal there, but also had a drink.

Eyesopenwideawake · 09/04/2023 22:06

On a road trip through the southern US my ex and I, we'd split by that time but still good friends, stopped in a small town in Alabama for the night.

Checked in and enquired where the bar was? "No bar here, folks, this is a dry town".

Once we'd been resuscitated we were kindly directed to a local private club where, having paid our membership dues of $20 (for a year!) we could drink the piss awful wine to our heart's content.

Sadly the name of the town escapes me...

tenbob · 09/04/2023 22:06

The mosquito bar in Clapham

The Harbour bar in Portrush - the proper downstairs pub bit, not the new bar upstairs

The Bear Inn, in a town called Street in Somerset, which was until the late 90s run by Quakers as a dry/alcohol-free pub

MrsTerryPratchett · 09/04/2023 22:06

The bar at Palm Bay on the Whitsundays!

@Glitteratitar we established on the last thread that every MNer has to go to the Whitsundays at least once. Maybe this is the bar to have to reunion!

JimmyDurham · 09/04/2023 22:08

@TheFullPicnic Been to the Conquering Hero. Used to live just up the road. No pig there in the 80s. Just a dart board and a pond.

CakeIsNotAvailable · 09/04/2023 22:08

Quids Inn, Douglas, IoM

Probably the biggest dive I've ever visited 😂

I've never studied at the University of Liverpool, but I've spent many a night in their student union bar - does that count?

Carpediem15 · 09/04/2023 22:09

How about the One Tree Hill on Hamilton Island.
