How many frying pans do you own?

Having a discussion with DM about kitchens and she's having a bit of a moan about how I have more cupboards than she does and she's really struggling for space. I suggested if she had less stuff... she'd have more space, but she's adamant she doesn't have much at all. I don't think she's got rid of anything in 30 years, just added to it.

For example she has 15 frying pans. She lives alone, never has guests for dinner.

I have 4. We're a family of 4.

So how many do you have? I include woks and griddle pans in this.

Including woks, 3. Otherwise 2

ReadersD1gest · 09/04/2023 15:29

One.

15! Wow, that's a lot of frying pans. I have five, of varying sizes.

Griddle
Paella pan,
3 saucepans, large, normal, small.

CindersAgain · 09/04/2023 15:30
  1. Including one small and one griddle.
twolilacs · 09/04/2023 15:30

Not saucepans, frying pans, obvs.

Pastaf0rbreakfast · 09/04/2023 15:30

4 frying pans - 1 large, 1 small, 1 wok, 1 griddle pan. But to be honest I’ll probably get rid of the griddle pan in the next declutter as it not very non-stick anymore.

UsingChangeofName · 09/04/2023 15:31

We have 1 x small one
1x probably what you'd class as 'medium'
1 large, quite deep one (that I might make a spag bol for the family in)
1 wok
I do also have the griddle I inherited from my Grandma that comes out once in a blue moon when I make Welsh cakes).

I consider myself to be quite a hoarder, but how you get to 15 frying pans, I can't imagine.

Large frying pan
Small (omelette sized) frying pan
Griddle pan
Non stick wok
Seasoned steel wok - 5 five for two of us. We do cook a lot!

recklessgran · 09/04/2023 15:31

3 I guess.
Wok
Small frying pan e.g. omelettes
Saute pan with lid for everything else

We cook a lot, too. Just not in frying pans.

TheOGCCL · 09/04/2023 15:33

15????

Four. Just getting rid of a fifth as isn’t being used. I only keep things I use regularly or yes you do think you haven’t got enough space.

PuttingDownRoots · 09/04/2023 15:34

In kitchen... 1 wok, I large frying pan, 1 small frying pan. Plus 3 pancake pans.

Plus 2 more fryingboans in the camping box. These were our old kitchen frying pans which got demoted but still usable.

Slimjimtobe · 09/04/2023 15:34

I’ve a crepe pan (very big and I use it for frying breakfast too) and a smaller frying pan on its last legs

but also a large deep pan with a lid for stir fries

so 3

clary · 09/04/2023 15:35

Wow 15?

I have three, and that includes a wok and a cast-iron pan that is only used for pancakes.

I cook quite a bit too. No need to own 15 frying pans. Ever.

Magenta65 · 09/04/2023 15:35

5 - sauté pan, 2 frying pans, wok and a griddle pan. Also 3 saucepans in various sizes

7Worfs · 09/04/2023 15:36

1 small pan for scrambled eggs, used almost daily
1 medium, rarely used
1 large for stuff like sea bass or steaks, used a few times a week
1 griddle pan, rarely used

4 saucepans, used daily for dinner veg, pasta, gravy etc

7Worfs · 09/04/2023 15:37

oh and a state of the art pancake pan used every Sunday Grin

Mrsjayy · 09/04/2023 15:38

15 frying pans bloody hell! I have 3 of different sizes . My dh would have a trillion pots and pans he's obsessed every now and then he will insist we need another small pot or pie dish drives me nuts!

MargaretThursday · 09/04/2023 15:38

I thought we were OTT by having 4.

2 normal sized ones (when we do pancakes we have both going at once)
1 small
1 griddle

ExtremelyDetermined · 09/04/2023 15:40

8 (two adults, two teens).

One large, two small (we only need one really but accidentally bought another when replacing the old pans for a new induction hob), a wok, a small cast iron skillet which can go in the oven, a flat griddle pan for pancakes and small and large ridged griddle pans for steaks, sausages etc. We had the smaller one when there were just two of us and bought the larger one when DCs came along.

jackstini · 09/04/2023 15:40

15 is mad! I need them broken down into sizes/uses...

6 here for family of 4
2 small
1 medium
1 large
1 wok
1 griddle

BobBobBobbing · 09/04/2023 15:40

12 if we include saute pans, woks, griddle and a small cast iron one that was originally a "cook a cookie gift" but is brilliant for a single fried egg. I do actually use all of them for various different things...

dudsville · 09/04/2023 15:42

That's a lot of frying pans! We're two people at home. We have three, a small, medium and large, and then we have a risotto pan.

Shortpoet · 09/04/2023 15:43

1 large frying pan
1 omelet pan
1 griddle
1 wok

Could manage without griddle as don’t often use it.

15 seems rather excessive.
