How many frying pans do you own?

Having a discussion with DM about kitchens and she's having a bit of a moan about how I have more cupboards than she does and she's really struggling for space. I suggested if she had less stuff... she'd have more space, but she's adamant she doesn't have much at all. I don't think she's got rid of anything in 30 years, just added to it.

For example she has 15 frying pans. She lives alone, never has guests for dinner.

I have 4. We're a family of 4.

So how many do you have? I include woks and griddle pans in this.

5 if including wok and griddle pan.

15 is a huge amount. Could she donate some to a school or preschool with a mud kitchen?

Okunevo · 09/04/2023 15:44

One frying pan, one wok

StandUpForYourRights · 09/04/2023 15:45

Oh dear, didn't realise how many I had. 1 wok, 1 square cast iron griddle, 1 round griddle, 1 very large, 2 for fried eggs only, 1 small for fried onions only plus a couple for general use plus 1 tiny one. Have a couple of new ones waiting for old ones to be thrown out.

Oh, and a lightweight camping one with a folding handle in the garage

MintJulia · 09/04/2023 15:46

Two large stainless steal
One non-stick omelette pan
One smaller steel pan with a metal handle that is safe to go in the oven

Family of two

TroysMammy · 09/04/2023 15:47

Two normal sized frying pans
2 small frying pans, pancake sized
1 wok
1 Sauté pan
1 paella pan
1 griddle pan
1 medium sized crepe pan, not used for crepes.
Family of 2 adults, one with got to have the right item for each recipe syndrome, ie me.

one small pan, one large.

I ditched the wok a few years ago as can make stir fry exactly the Same the large frying pan.
I haven’t space for excess stuff

Anothernameonthewall · 09/04/2023 15:57

2 woks, 1 big frying pan, 1 small, one griddle and 1 square flat pan thing for scotch pancakes we inherited from husband's granny.

It is so well used it has 4 circles on it where you put your pancakes. Never to be washed, only wiped down with a damp cloth whilst still hot.

iatealltheminieggs · 09/04/2023 16:00

DM says they all serve a purpose. Although she can only list 2 specifics:

1 pan is only used for frying fish
1 griddle pan is only used for making Welsh Cakes

She's a hoarder in denial and convinced she has less stuff than we do.

Large non-stick for eggs for two+
Small non-stick for eggs for one
Large (no longer) non-stick for almost everything other than eggs
Large scour-able steel for steaks
Large wok
Three small old (no longer) non-stick for extras at Christmas etc

so 8, which seems a lot, but they all stack on top of each other so don’t take up a lot of space. We could probably lose one or two of the old small ones. I like having lots of pans so that I can leave the washing up as long as possible because I’m deeply lazy.

stayathomer · 09/04/2023 16:05

3-although one is so scratched and rubbish we should just get rid of it. One better and then one good one

bluechameleon · 09/04/2023 16:06
  1. Small, medium, large, griddle.
fourhours · 09/04/2023 16:06

1x 'standard' one, 1x deep one and 1x Wok.

PussBilledDuckyPlait · 09/04/2023 16:06

4 frying pan - tiny one, average sized one, big one with lid and cast iron one that we never use because it's so heavy (came with 2nd hand set of Le Creuset pans off eBay) . 1 wok and 1 griddle pan.

wonkylegs · 09/04/2023 16:07

6 but that includes a griddle pan and a wok and they all get used regularly for different things (different sizes/ depths)

SquigglePigs · 09/04/2023 16:08

I have three decent sized ones in staggered sizes, a wok, a griddle pan and then three teeny ones that would fry a single egg.

OxanaVorontsova · 09/04/2023 16:10

5 but I need a 6th

isthewashingdryyet · 09/04/2023 16:11

3
1 griddle, cast iron, for steak
1 non stick for almost everything else
1 pancake pan, used only for pancakes

your mum is a hoarder

Nismet · 09/04/2023 16:12

I'm thinking some of these are quite big numbers, let alone the 15!

We have a big one and a small one. We used to have a wok, but it didn't earn its space so got rid.

Itsallaloadofbollocks · 09/04/2023 16:14

1 tiny one
1 normal one
1 large, deep one
1 wok (mostly for making chips)
1 tawa (Indian griddle)

BeetleBailey · 09/04/2023 16:16

42

Sugarfree23 · 09/04/2023 16:18

2 woks of different sizes
3 frying pans
2 omelette pans

So 7 in total and I thought that was excessive. Woks are never used at the same time, I occasionally use 2 frying pans or omelette pans at the same time. 3rd frying pan was in a deal with one of the omelette pans

flatpack1 · 09/04/2023 16:19

one large
one small
one old and not very good
one old and not very good plus wobbly handle

WeAllHaveWings · 09/04/2023 16:21

One large
One medium
One cast iron griddle - just bought for £££s and not liking it so far

MissingMoominMamma · 09/04/2023 16:21

Six, including wok, a griddle pan, and a deeper lidded frying pan.

There are five of us.
