How many frying pans do you own?

Having a discussion with DM about kitchens and she's having a bit of a moan about how I have more cupboards than she does and she's really struggling for space. I suggested if she had less stuff... she'd have more space, but she's adamant she doesn't have much at all. I don't think she's got rid of anything in 30 years, just added to it.

For example she has 15 frying pans. She lives alone, never has guests for dinner.

I have 4. We're a family of 4.

So how many do you have? I include woks and griddle pans in this.

Just me in the house

1 V large pan capable of taking 4 pork chops
1 large pan came with a set of saucepans
1 knackered large pan that really needs to go.
1 small pan for a small batch of tomatoes
1 really small one for frying/toasting spices
1 medium pan used once a year on Shrove Tuesday to make pancakes (I know)
1 wok
A Tawa for reheating naan bread, wraps and Pitta and
Somewhere there's a proper griddle.

So that would be 9. Eeek!!!

I frying pan & 1 griddle pan.

Sgtmajormummy · 09/04/2023 23:45

Three
Two are the same diameter (24cm, non stick) and can be used like a mini oven for pizza etc. using one as a lid.
The other is 20cm cast iron and can go in the oven.
I also use a casserole or pressure cooker for frying at the start of the cooking process.

15 is way too many for one person.

Seven, though one is a wok, one griddle and one only for roasting spices.

I acquired two lightweight ones after I broke my wrist. My late DH seemed only to consider heavyweight stuff worth buying.

I have 5
Small, medium, large, then a pair of Spanish tortilla pans that you can clip together to turn the tortilla over.
If people are including griddle pans then I also have one of those.
I may have a couple more frying pans I don't use. We do have some hoarding tendencies Blush

Six
3 non stick various sizes
1 griddle
1 crepe
1 wok

  1. One wok, one griddle pan, one large fry pan, one small fry pan and one omelette pan.
caringcarer · 10/04/2023 00:53

To keep clutter down I operate a one in one out policy. If I buy a new pan an old one has to go.

TakeMyStrongHand · 10/04/2023 01:54

What! This is madness! I assume she can't use more than four at a time?

Including woks, I have two. Not including, one! I do have a George forman and only use the frying pan occasionally.

LettingMySouthSideShow · 10/04/2023 02:19

We have 8 which seems a lot but we do use them.

Maple2023 · 10/04/2023 02:31

1!

JacobsCrackersCheeseFogg · 10/04/2023 02:39

Family of three. Three frying pans, small medium and large. Used for everything.

DelphiniumBlue · 10/04/2023 13:21

I have 2, a big one and a small one. Family of 4 adults currently. Can't see why you would need more.
I do also have a wok.

Deadringer · 10/04/2023 13:23

4 for a family of 7. Two large, a wok style one, and a small one for pancakes.

Jennalong · 02/09/2023 15:42

2 lidded fry pans so they are quite versatile.
We have a saucepan set the same design from a German company ( I think ) called Woll . They are heavy and last a long time . Hard to get hold of in the UK and quite expensive, but as they wear well , worth it.

ManchesterLu · 02/09/2023 16:09

Two (one big, one just enough for one egg) and a wok.

I'm quite shocked at the number of people who have multiple frying pans. Why? You can't use them all at once!

DinnaeFashYersel · 02/09/2023 16:10

3 plus a wok

slavetothekittens · 02/09/2023 16:11

Two (one ceramic, one non stick)and a wok.

Canthave2manycats · 02/09/2023 18:28

1 large pan, one griddle pan, one omelette pan, and a tiny pan for a single egg - plus a wok.

balltraponthecote · 02/09/2023 19:14

One wok, one large frying pan, one medium and an omelette pan. Oh and a tiny one just big enough for one fried egg.
I'm a keen cook, and all of these get used regularly, but the mind boggles at the thought of 15! That's hoarder territory in my view.
