How many frying pans do you own?

Having a discussion with DM about kitchens and she's having a bit of a moan about how I have more cupboards than she does and she's really struggling for space. I suggested if she had less stuff... she'd have more space, but she's adamant she doesn't have much at all. I don't think she's got rid of anything in 30 years, just added to it.

For example she has 15 frying pans. She lives alone, never has guests for dinner.

I have 4. We're a family of 4.

So how many do you have? I include woks and griddle pans in this.

3 frying pans of different sizes and one small and one large wok. So 5 for a family of 4.

1 frying pan - I rarely fry anything and for browning etc I have a very large sauté pan . Your mother sounds like my sister , I house sat for her cats last year when she went on holiday and I cleaned out her pan cupboard and she had about 10 frying pans and 20 sauce pans . I picked the ones that looked nicest and left the rest out in a pile for her to throw away and she only saved a couple of small pans .

2 frying pans, one medium and one large. 1 wok. Family of 4. Sounds like she needs a clear out!

newtb · 09/04/2023 17:48

2 de Buyer
2 supposedly non-stick and
3 woks - one round bottom, one flat and another flat bottomed with 2 wooden handles.

One frying pan...and a very small 'egg' pan that just fits one fried egg (I think it's probably meant for pancakes?)

Why would anyone need more than two?? How much frying do people do in one meal prep, that they need 15??? 😲

That's just it. Most of them probably haven't been used for years.

DM is a "I'll keep it just incase" person.

1 ridged cast iron griddle.
1 wok.
1 large & 1 medium non-stick (hoping to replace them with 1 black steel pan soon).
1 black steel omelette pan.
1 stainless steel saute pan (that I don't use for frying).

CrunchyCarrot · 09/04/2023 17:57

Four. 2 x small, 1 x medium, 1 x large.

Yes, I have 2 v small (unintentionally, one bought for dd for uni but she didn’t need it) a large wok, a saucière, a griddle, a large deep sided pan but not middle sized proper frying pan so need new 🍳

grandmaintraining · 09/04/2023 18:05

I have one.

Littlessweepy · 09/04/2023 18:07

7:
crepe pan
small
medium
large deep one
2 griddles - one for meat one for veg
wok

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 09/04/2023 18:24

A large one which may actually be a wok but I use for practically everything

A small one

A mid sized one stuck at the back of the cupboard as the coating is coming off . Probably ought to throw it as haven't used for years !

Comfies · 09/04/2023 18:25

One

Dracuuule · 09/04/2023 18:28

I have 6.
A small one for frying eggs, a medium one, a large one, a wok, a griddle pan and a tiny one that I can fry a couple of cloves of garlic in.

BreviloquentBastard · 09/04/2023 18:28

1 x large non stick
1 x small non stick
1 x deep sauté pan
1 x wok
1 x cast iron
1 x cast iron griddle

So six, which to me seems a lot!

Elphame · 09/04/2023 18:30

I have a small one. We don’t eat a lot of the food you need to fry.

Carpediem15 · 09/04/2023 18:33

About the same as your mother, probably had them about the same time, and use the frying pan and the griddle pan now and again. About time they were ditched.

bengalcat · 09/04/2023 18:36

One

Caramelsmadfuzzytail · 09/04/2023 18:47

I have a large frying pan, a medium frying pan, an omelette pan and a dinky square pan. I used to have a pancake pan but it appears to have gone for a wander.

Merrow · 09/04/2023 18:49

2 - one cast iron for when I'm actually properly cooking and one that I can shove in the dishwasher.

Snailsaresweet · 09/04/2023 18:49

1 stainless steel one which gets used all the time. A newish non-stick one with a lid (mainly used for Indian food), an omlette pan, a wok. And a griddle. Could deffo get rid of the griddle as I think its gone rusty.

Saschka · 09/04/2023 18:52

One wok, one big frying pan, and we recently got a small one for frying single eggs, making omelettes etc. Three of us. If I lived alone I’d just have the wok and the small one.

bizzywiththefizzy · 09/04/2023 18:54

Oh my goodness I got married 30 yrs ago , probably the some as your Mother .
I do have to say I have a frying pan I bought 30 yrs ago from Habitat and it's still going .
