How many frying pans do you own?

Having a discussion with DM about kitchens and she's having a bit of a moan about how I have more cupboards than she does and she's really struggling for space. I suggested if she had less stuff... she'd have more space, but she's adamant she doesn't have much at all. I don't think she's got rid of anything in 30 years, just added to it.

For example she has 15 frying pans. She lives alone, never has guests for dinner.

I have 4. We're a family of 4.

So how many do you have? I include woks and griddle pans in this.

6 :
large frying pan
wok
saute pan and lid - used all the time
flat bottom pancake pan
2 omelette pans because we can’t agree on which one is better ! ( mine, obvs)

could lose the wok

2 frying pans, 1 small, 1 large
3 “regular” saucepans
Saute pan

DiscoBeat · 09/04/2023 19:00

7, but I use them all - deep casserole pan, griddle pan, wok, medium frying pan, one very small one and a two pancake pans, one big one small. I cook a lot, and often for a lot of people and I could never use any more.

A wok, an ordinary frying pan and a pancake pan.

I need to know what involves 15 pans!!

UndercoverCop · 09/04/2023 19:34

A wok, a griddle pan, a cast iron deepish frying pan that also goes in the oven, a small, medium and large non stick frying pan and a tiny single egg pan. I cook a lot and that's 7 in total although I'd probably only class 4 as actual frying pans, but have used your criteria

Woofappreciationday · 09/04/2023 20:11

We have 8 for 2 people.

Large non stick
Small non stick
Le creseut frying pan
Le creuseut large frying pan
Griddle pan
Wok
2 steak frying pans (fully metal for hob to oven)

My DP uses my stock pot to fry so does that also count?

TragicMuse · 09/04/2023 20:20

I appear to have 11, as we are including woks and griddle pans.

That seems rather a lot but I can't think of any I'd want to get rid of.

slavetothekittens · 09/04/2023 20:26

2 frying pans and a wok.

Bewilderedandhurt · 09/04/2023 20:39

3, 1 for savoury, 1 for pancakes only, a small one for eggs.

Bs0u416d · 09/04/2023 20:42

One actual frying pan. One cast iron skillet which is much more multi purpose and a fish pan. I'm a big cook but I just cant see the need for a wok. What are you all cooking in them?

Bewilderedandhurt · 09/04/2023 20:44

Maybe you should help DM sort things and reduce her clutter. Anything she "needs" should be labelled. Once it's used the label is removed. Anything unused after six months goes to "stage two" boxed in the garage/shed. After a year if it's not been reclaimed to the kitchen then it's not needed and off to a new home at the charity shop.

7 - including a wok and a griddle pan. Two adults in household.

I have so many as I always think the next one is going to be so much better non stick than the ones I have. Infact the best one I have is a cast iron one which I have had for years.

Spanielsarepainless · 09/04/2023 21:19

One non-stick omelette/pancake pan, one small stainless steel pan and one large ditto with a lid.

Pseudonamed · 09/04/2023 21:28

1 wok
1 griddle pan
1 egg pan

gonkk · 09/04/2023 21:43

3

One large.
One medium.
One tiny (as in your literally use it for a perfectly round fried egg)

2 adults one 1 young toddler.

Saucepans is another kettle of fish!

Mumma · 09/04/2023 21:47

One frying pan...and one wok.

Sohungrynow · 09/04/2023 21:47

Wok, one just for eggs, one for going in the oven, pancake pan, and two large ones for cooking bacon, mince, steak etc, should have got rid of the older one of the two but found it handy to actually have two so kept the old one as we do have the cupboard space and I thought that was a lot, so 6 in total.

DPotter · 09/04/2023 21:58

15 frying pans - wow
DP has 9 frying pans of varying sizes and I think this is excessive. We probably only use 2 -3 of them. We also have a wok, 4 saucepans and 2 strainers / sieves. I say 'we only use 2-3' - actually I probably only use 1. I brown off mince / meat etc in a saucepan as I find it easier to stir things in a saucepan.

mondaytosunday · 09/04/2023 22:03

Three. Small medium and large.

MeinKraft · 09/04/2023 22:20

2 frying pans. One le crueset thing I can barely lift but that DH insists is wonderful. And a non stick one from home bargains that is actually wonderful and DH secretly uses because the cast iron one is such a pain in the arse.

Mindovermatter247 · 09/04/2023 22:28

8 of us in our house we have about 1 big one, 1 medium size one , 2 deep ones, 2 very small ones. 2 of them we barely use as almost for the bin, just keep them just in case.

FusionChefGeoff · 09/04/2023 22:29

Large pan
Small cast iron pan
Wok
Cast iron griddle pan

CharlotteStreetW1 · 09/04/2023 22:57

Seven:
One large one
One medium - past its best
One omelette sized
Three tiny ones for fried eggs (from when I had a B&B)
One crepe pan - hidden from DH and only to be used for pancakes

cocksstrideintheevening · 09/04/2023 23:10

I have a wok, a small frying pan. A deep frying pan and a Tefal one with a detachable handle so it can go in the oven.

Family of four, I have no need for any more.
