Slim 15 year old having trouble buying clothes. Which shops? Jeans shopping was a disaster.

So... We used to buy very easily from h and m, zara and mango etc.

Recently all her 164 size stuff is far too short in the leg. So we went to h and m and stuff was really long in the leg.

Jean's from several shops didn't fit her and she ended up crying. I've brought stuff on line but now I Csnt buy an age range I am struggling.

My daughter had quite a lot from Brandy Melville at this stage. They are only one size, which is petite (awful I know) but for a while it was pretty much the only place she could reliably buy jeans from

RoseandVioletCreams · 02/04/2023 20:27

Thanks my @Tinytigertail my dd is extremely slim but many of the jeans were far too tight and couldn't fit. We tried size 6,8 and 10!! In different shops and different styles.

Any trousers would be good really.

Brandy Melville fit me and I'm 163 cm tall. I'm a bit old for the clothes

Have you tried New Look-they have a fantastic denim selection, and have a teen range too I think

KirstenBlest · 02/04/2023 20:29

Zara, Next, M&S, New Look might be worth a try

3WildOnes · 02/04/2023 20:29

How tall is she?
In what way didn't they fit? Tight? Loose?

NoEffingWay · 02/04/2023 20:30

FWIW- I was a very slim teen who struggled to move up to adult sizes, I remember the agony of trying to find clothes and how frustrating it was.

gogohmm · 02/04/2023 20:30

Dd is very slim 5'5 and most jeans are new look.

RoseandVioletCreams · 02/04/2023 20:32

@NoEffingWay.. It was new look that drove her to tears.

New look are good for jeans and do various leg size as do River Island.

I'd possibly say 164 is closer to a 10/12 I'm short and while I don't buy kids trousers often I do sometimes and also buy coats. I'd buy age 12-13 and it would normally fit and I'm a adult size 10.

Onehappymam · 02/04/2023 20:32

My daughter recently got jeans from Next. There’s no logos on the jeans at all to indicate where they’re from - they are completely plain. Huge range of styles, sizes and lengths.

CMOTDibbler · 02/04/2023 20:33

ASOS do size 4 in petite that should work

RoseandVioletCreams · 02/04/2023 20:33

I've written the op badly... She is very slim but what we were trying on was still too small.

We tried 6 8 and 10.

@Onehappymam

Was that from on line? We don't have any here that do teen range

Have you measured her to see where she likely fits on a size chart? Might help in advance to know where she roughly sits size wise

EscapeTheCastle · 02/04/2023 20:34

Levis do waist size and a leg length in different cuts and shapes. Expensive new. Not too bad on ebay.

bellac11 · 02/04/2023 20:34

Primark I would have thought

I went in there Saturday (never been in there for clothes before), couldnt believe how small the clothing was, its all for skinny teens

minipie · 02/04/2023 20:35

I’m 160cm, I buy cropped or ankle length jeans and they are full length on me. Many adult jeans go down to a 24 or 25 inch waist size, would that be too large for her?

thelionthewitchtheaudacityofTHISbitch · 02/04/2023 20:37

My son is uber-skinny, but tall. So at age 15 we moved to men's sizing. But we still get on OK with Next and Hollister. So perhaps they might be as useful with girls/women's.

bellac11 · 02/04/2023 20:38

Ive read your update, so the clothes were too small

Things that are too long in the leg, just arrange to get taken up. I have to do this a lot, Im taller than average but trousers are always too long on me, I have no idea who the women are who these trousers are aimed at given Im taller than average.

I like a 27 inch leg as I like ankle grazers.

Surely if a 10's too small, you'd try a 12? Adult women's sizing is weird. I wear anything from a 10 to a 16! And you often wear different sizes in differ shops and on top and bottom. I think a lot of it is dependent on body shape tbh.

CatsGinAndTwiglets · 02/04/2023 20:41

If 6, 8 and 10 are too small try a 12 short? I rely you can use her body measurements?

Kanaloa · 02/04/2023 20:42

She’s very slim and yet a range of shops in sizes 6, 8, and 10 were too tight? I wear a 12 in new look jeans (my fave are the tory ones) and I wouldn’t say I’m ‘very slim.’ I’m not even slim! Was there no option to try larger sizes?

CatsGinAndTwiglets · 02/04/2023 20:42

My niece is in 24” waist 36” leg jeans from Zara if that helps.

TeenLifeMum · 02/04/2023 20:42

Dd is 15 and wears size 4 from new look and fat face trousers go to size 4. Also cider.
