Over on the other one, Bruce was bang on the money with the question about whether my opener was 'a gift of a word'. I've suggested it in an earlier thread as a possible bastard of a solution, and since yesterday's word was very vowelly, I thought it would be a laugh to go in the other direction.

I thought gift was a clever clue.

I couldn't figure out your starter word @DahliaMacNamara , but once the clue was given it was an "a-ha! Got it" moment.

Thanks for starting this one. I'm a bit Wordle obsessed. Today was easy compared to yesterday.
Once I've established there's only one vowel as today I normally look to words with a y in them.

I didn't find the GUANO solution that tricky, as I'd started with TIGER, which eliminated I and E, then tried ALONG. What trips me up most often is the multiple choice solution, where it might be STONE/ALONE/PHONE/DRONE.
Most of all I hate the personal blank spots, where everyone else seems to have got it in 3, and I'm still scratching my head making up bullshit words to see if they'll be accepted. Then it turns out to be OZONE or something.

As soon as I googled guano I had a vision of Sir David's bat cave but the only reason I had put the O on the end was because nothing else sounded like a word.

Weirdly I find the times I get a two is often when everyone else has struggled.

i thought making a pile out of guano was a joke trope. I was surprised how many people hadn’t heard of it.

Blank, then E, then S through elimination, then other E and I already had the T

Not a normal starter word for me but it popped in my head

Well, I didn't start with myrrh today. Only got the E in the first line, and in the wrong position. Conventional starter led to a conventional 4. Better than an x, though.

Yesterday was a mare for me, I had to make notes!

I liked today's but a lot was luck. Well, I suppose it often is. I have three starter words.

I'd vaguely heard of guano, probably due to gardening, as you can buy it as a fertiliser for £30 a bucket 😂

I always try to figure out the last part of the word first.

Myrrh is a great word but would likely induce much rage in people. Me included.

I'm happy with todays 4.
I had S and E in the right spot after 2, but I'm always loath to 'waste' a guess using a letter twice early on, so I went for MUSET on line three. That eliminated the U at least, and as I'd already estimated R, there wasn't much else it could be.

According to my stats I've been playing 70 days and I know what you mean about 'wasting' guesses. In the beginning I was using a lot of elimination words, even using letters I knew were greyed out. Now I mostly play as though I'm in hard mode as I'm always hoping for a 2!

All good words @SheilaFentiman. Stare then guest ruled out most of them for me.

Fortunately my second word eliminated most of the possibilities else I'd have been looking at a streak killer!

Unfortunately I went for chest at guess two which didn’t eliminate much!

The reason I got it in two is because it’s my bestie’s birthday today so I tried to put bestie in and then obvs wasn’t a 5 word so I went for today’s word instead!!! So shocked to get a 2!
