Had all the letters but in the wrong places today. In my head, the intonation/emphasis was wrong so the word just didn't look right until i realised it was be-SET (IYSWIM!)

Snap @JoanThursday I was thinking exactly the same. I was going through all remaining letters and discounted BEE set as not a word! 🙈

Just couldn't find the right places for those yellows!

Can anyone remember what yesterdays word was?

It was BREAD, I think!

My first word was stare today (as always).
I’m thinking that in theory my second word should have been bumpy. That would rule out berry, merry, perry, query, beery and emery leaving ferry, fiery and every. Are there other possibilities from that start?

My first word is similar to yours! I played barmy as my third word, to rule double R, M, B in or out. Second word had ruled out P already.

I see. Putting an r there to rule out a double ‘r’ is a good idea.

I confess I hadn’t thought of query as a possible though!

Mine was two today. My first word was FEAST.

I kept getting nothing but two yellows consistently in the wrong places. I thought it was impressive in its own way to miss the target for 3 consecutive goes, without picking up anything else.

So you just had one yellow ‘E’? And then you got the answer in two?

Au the moment my usual starter word is GREAT, which yesterday was a great 😉 help for bread. But because of that I started with a completely different word today, I reckoned words wouldn't be too similar two days in a row. Anyone else think like this?

Yes. My principle is, if a letter lights up yellow, I try it as the first letter of my next word. Works quite often.

I'm still afraid to post today's word here in case someone clicks by accident!

I nearly didn't get it because I was just about to post a word with m when I spotted v was left and then I dithered about whether they would go for the more obscure one.

Interesting how many different ways of doing it there are.

@JaneJeffer . You were obviously right. It looks as though the word with an ‘m’ isn’t a Wordle answer. However, guano wasn’t either so things can change. I’m going from the optimal Wordle site.

All those 'what would they do' thoughts go through my mind too. A V, a Y and a double letter was a little tricksy of them!

I was going to start with April today, just for the day that's in it - forgetting that you can't use proper nouns. Funny now given what the word is 😁

Too hard today - there were too many options. Didn't get it until fifth try. 😳

Then I had the last four letters in place but it took three goes to get the first letter right.

Oh of course! I was still thinking it meant the month. Forgot it had another meaning 😂

I said on the other thread that I didn't know what the word was. Of course I do I just was pronouncing it wrong in my head 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

I saw that @ShakeYourFeathers and did wonder if you'd lost the plot 😂 that happens to me a lot. I'll put the letters in place I know and then I try out the others in my head until I'm convinced nothing left is a real word.

Years ago I read a lot of books about the Mayans. It wasn't until I watched a documentary that I realised I'd been mispronouncing the word wrong in my head all that time 🙈

I saw that too @ShakeYourFeathers. I couldn't figure out what your word with 4 greens was because I was trying to figure it out with the "soft" sound that's in today's word. I had to go through the alphabet in my head, then I figured out the other word had a completely different sound.
