Today I will find out if my foot injury is soft tissue related or a bone ( fracture) issue (the dreaded word you don't want to hear at my age )

bizzey · 30/03/2023 06:40

Ohh ...might have misread the title !

Still sore foot or not ...I am going to do some housework today .

MissConductUS · 30/03/2023 15:31

Welcome, @bizzey, and thanks for sharing your foot related news. Of course you can join! Do you have any idea how you might have hurt the foot? Are you a runner? I assume they will take an X-ray to see if you have a fracture.

Not much new here. I have a couple of daffodils at home that have opened, but it's still very cold overnight here. I got a new apple watch. The old one worked fine, but the battery was completely knackered, so I had to keep charging it during the day. That was a problem when I went to Orlando last month. Amazon briefly had Apple products on sale last week, so I found a new one there for 20% off. Now one of my apps isn't working properly.

Welcome Bizzey Of course you can join and medical problems are very much a theme of the thread and we even have a thread Head nurse MissC who kindly offers advice.

We are back home now with DS, education meeting at 4pm.

bizzey · 30/03/2023 16:52

Thank you for the lovely welcome 🤗!
Still don't know if my heel is damaged as apparently they took x-rays of my ankle by mistake 🤣.

Still ...not wearing boot today for a bit to try and get my posture and gait back to normal.

He said it will be sore for a couple of weeks .

Tackling some housework today that I had really let slide over the past week !
😦

Lemonsandlemonade · 30/03/2023 20:43

Silkie I hope the meeting went ok.

Welcome Bizz

I fell of a chair in work today ( standing to put up a display ) and my knee is throbbing

bizzey · 30/03/2023 20:53

As a drunken late teen/ early 20's ...
I never had as many mishaps as what I have had now as a " grown up " adult !

bizzey · 30/03/2023 20:57

Had sausages ,chips and beans for tea.
First 2 in the oven.
Hubbard's bake beans ( Sainsbury's own ?)
are absolutely fine !
27 p compared to to Heinz £1.20 .

IWanderedLonely · 30/03/2023 20:58

Must be the day for injuries. I managed to wallop my funny bone on a door handle, not really an injury but it bloody hurt!
Scan results still not back from hospital. They said a week, just over now. Still feel fine though, just tired, which has been the same for over a year.

Prok sorry to hear about your neuropathy and your DH, hope both improve.

I'm at the hairdressers tomorrow, yaaay. Coffee, peace and quiet, bliss. If I could manage a nap as well it would be perfect 👌.

Silkies very best of luck tomorrow

MissConductUS · 30/03/2023 21:06

Silkie, how did your education meeting go?

Bizzey, tonight is takeaway night for us. I'm four hours behind the UK, so no decision has been made yet as to what to have. I live in an area called the Hudson Highlands

I had a nice walk around the reservoir at lunchtime, but it's still too cold for the end of March. No minor injuries to report today.

Hello - catching up. It's windy and cold out there but at least the snow is melting.

I've had many children home over Spring Break, some of them mine. It's been lovely but very busy. I'm now catching up with all the work I'd delayed while they were home.

My life is so boring I actually can't bring myself to write about it even here, but I did see some tree trimmers in hi-vis earlier today, so that was very exciting :-)

I'm going to force myself to walk the dog now, before he loses his tiny mind. He's already devastated by all the offspring going away.

halfpasteleven · 30/03/2023 22:14

Really hope the meeting went well Silkie.

No injuries here thankfully.
Looking forward to Easter break now tomorrow. I like this time of year with the brighter days.

Full of cramps again tonight so it's bed and a hot water bottle for me (again)

Silkierabbit · 30/03/2023 22:25

It was a really awful meeting re education. Could be another 18 months and in meantime plan is everyone and his dog round our house which DS hates, I hate and DH can't work and we need him to be able to work from home and I need another cancer op and I want peace in my home. They won't listen to anything we or DS wants.

MissConductUS · 30/03/2023 23:23

Silkie, that's awful. Why can't they find a placement for him?

Hello lovlies 💐
Forgot to save new thread so have just caught up. Prok and Silkie - sending you good thoughts. 😊
Bizzy, hope your foot is ok?
Ms, hoping you get a few more years out of the miele. 🤞
Havoc and I have gone sledding twice this week, swimming lesson, and first baby gymnastics class tomorrow. Baby's life is grand! Mummy is having fun, too. 😀

MarshaMelrose · 31/03/2023 02:42

My sister is away and I'm looking after her dog. He is the cutest, best natured boy in the world. Nothing beats taking him for a walk, watching his white bottom disappearing into the trees chasing squirrels 🙂, wondering when he'll ever come back out. 🤨 I love him. ❤

On the downside my 87yo mum is ill and needs an iron infusion. I really don't understand why I have to fight the nhs over absolutely everything. When the memory clinic says she needs it, and the cardiologist says she needs it and the gps have okayed it, how come the receptionists say they can't find anything on the system and refuse to make an appointment? Why do I literally have to let myself cry in front of them to get them to do anything. It's so very stressful and now the cardiologist is saying she should be in hospital she's so ill. How is this using NHS resources well? Not giving her a 45 minute iv infusion in the clinic at an arranged time but instead having her taken into hospital for 3 days to have iron and blood infusions. I'm exhausted by it all.

But I do have my boy to cheer me up. 🥰

bizzey · 31/03/2023 14:27

MarshaMelrose. How frustrating for you
Hope the doggy walks help sooth your worries .
Use to love going for long walks with my dog .

bizzey · 31/03/2023 14:34

My boring news for the days is that ...I think I pushed myself too hard yesterday and foot is sore now 😦!

Think I am going to have to cave and take painkillers which I don't like relying on .

MissConductUS · 31/03/2023 16:10

Welcome, @MarshaMelrose, and thanks for sharing your canine and NHS news. What breed of dog is it? I'm sorry to hear your mum is finding it so challenging to get something as simple as an iron infusion. I confess that I don't know why the NHS is struggling so badly. As an American, it's a bit of a mystery to me.

Bizzey, did the problem with your foot start spontaneously or did you bang it up somehow? Is there visible swelling or tenderness to the touch? By the way, I posted the wrong link yesterday about my local area. It should have been this - Hudson Highlands

Mr and Mrs Duck seem to have settled in at the reservoir for the season.

I lived with my parents, moved out, then 5 years later am temporarily back.

Trying to change my address with my phone contract

Captcha not working

Password reset, email still invalid

45 minutes later I finally get in, to discover...

I didn't change my address 5 years ago, so it's what it needs to be 🫥

MissConductUS · 31/03/2023 16:47

Welcome, @DragonbornMum, and thanks for sharing your cybersecurity news. I expect we'll keep paying the mobile contract for our kids phones for quite a while as we get a nice discount with the family plan. How do you feel about moving back in, and how old are your kids?

Our DS moved back in with us after graduating from uni last year, and I expect DD may do the same when she graduates next year.

Hating it so much: it's been a week 🌞 Our toddler is happy to have grandparents there all the time though

deep breaths We sold and haven't bought yet, so it's only temporary.

MissConductUS · 31/03/2023 19:54

Sorry to hear you are hating it, Dragons. It's hard to go home once you've been independent. DS wasn't thrilled about moving home after uni. Rents are so high that it would have been very tight financially for him to get his own place, and he's always been sensible with money. He also likes that we feed him and do his laundry. Do you have any idea how long it will take to get your own place?

I walked again at lunchtime and got this fab close-up of the ducks. I was on the other side of a wall, so they didn't notice me approaching them.

End of term today, and 3 x DC got end-of-term progress reports yesterday. So we walked to the village pub for dinner to celebrate I was mostly celebrating not having to make dinner I had a delicious garden salad with grilled halloumi, and a glass of Prosecco. Home now, DC have disappeared and I’ve got a g&t, happy holidays to me!

In mystery injury news, I have a nasty bruise on the back of my left hand and I have no idea how it got there.

bizzey · 31/03/2023 21:02

My accident was me thinking I was young, nimble, nubile ,and flexible again !

Stepped over some stuff ready for charity instead of moving it out of the way.
Mid-way through my big step up high ..I realized I was not going to make it , so stretched leg out further..and came down heavy on my heel ... completely off balance.!

Hard take a naproxen tonight and if still same by Monday they will X ray again .
