Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news 25: Calmly through the day
bizzey · 19/07/2023 21:27

Floof is a force to be reckoned with !
I can see the cat is the boss! 😂😂

IWanderedLonely · 19/07/2023 21:27

Mum it's been about 15 -16 degrees all week and very wet, grey and miserable. There were 6 adults, 5 children & 2 babies to feed. It was chaos, as usualWink

Silkierabbit · 19/07/2023 21:34

Yes Bizzey I am glad Floof is permanently in a good mood, I wouldn't care to get on the wrong side of an animal that size.

bizzey · 19/07/2023 21:50

IWandered errr. 15 degrees and all those mouths to feed .. doesn't that count as a takeaway being needed !!

( I am lazy though,😂)

bizzey · 19/07/2023 21:56

Reminded DS earlier that I still don't have a ticket for his graduation ceremony.

Ohh yeah...he said ...I forgot to send it !!

That would have been fun trying to get into an event without a bar code !

Glad that I saw the tickets though ..the doors close at the time I was going to get there!😂😂

Floof is getting big.

Big and beautiful Silkie.

We had some sunshine this evening for the first time in weeks. It's looking like it will be the wettest July on record...
was so nice to feel the sunshine on my face (had factor 50 on)

ReleaseTheDucksOfWar · 19/07/2023 22:17

@MissConductUS how lovely to see the little duckling survived!

what an absolutely beauty Floof is @Silkierabbit

sproutsandparsnips · 19/07/2023 22:28

Pleasant day here for a change.
Did my exam - went ok but not great.
Went to a concert in our church - very enjoyable and a lot of talent on show.
Drank a gin.
Havoc looking for a car for DS. We will buy the car but he will pay the insurance. Very expensive 😫

bizzey · 19/07/2023 23:02

Bought DS a gym/yoga mat as a birthday present.

It is still on the floor .. and I have used it !.

It is really motivating 😂;

Silkierabbit · 19/07/2023 23:25

Hope you get the ticket soon Bizzey and hope your DS had a good birthday. Floof uses yoga mats here.

Floof says thanks to Half and Ducks DH seems to have been converted to Floof after initially saying I could only get a small female tabby cat I just heard him say to Floof hello best cat in the world Papa loves you. Floof had come trilling to me when I called him then went over to DH.

Watched Below Deck Australia 2 quite enjoyed that. Reminded me of when we went to Australia.

Glad exam went OK Sprouts

Yes weather isn't too inspiring here though we missed the predicted thunder but a lot of rain forecast. Makes it a bit easier that DS won't leave the house that current holidays are either rain in UK or 48C in Europe. Glad we went on holiday before.

I want to do a Celtic Deep thing in Wales where you swim with puffins, sharks, tuna etc but doubt will get to do that this year. Meeting with LA on Friday, will be a whole load of nothing.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 19/07/2023 23:34

Hello Floof!
Bizzey, a common slang tern in use there apparently and borrowed from Portugese deriving from Latin. 🤓
Sprouts, gin straight up or mixed? Well deserved after exam!!! 👍

New thread soon, Miss!!

Hot today as predicted. Was at playground splash park. There was free outdoor entertainment in the adjacent park. An improv group was on stage when we arrived. After that a guitar player singing very down tempo versions of rock and pop songs... 🥱😴
Havoc is now asleep and I'm thinking I need to get some groceries later.

Everyone myst be asleep now... except for Silkie doing Wordle. 😊

bizzey · 19/07/2023 23:52

Chronophoto Is a really good game to play.
6 photos a day ...guess the year ..and get a score ..

Be warned... it is addictive 😂😂

Mumtobabyhavoc · 19/07/2023 23:54

Bizzey, noted. Googling now...

Silkierabbit · 19/07/2023 23:58

Yes waiting for wordle here 2 mins to go.

Silkierabbit · 20/07/2023 00:01

bizzey · 20/07/2023 00:08

bizzey · 20/07/2023 00:21

Ha ha...found out I already have it on my phone !!

Did it in 3 ...

That will be a first !

Silkierabbit · 20/07/2023 01:47

There's a MN thread for Wordle though the midnight playing isn't a great habit.

Floof just came up trilling.

Deathraystare · 20/07/2023 16:33

I was rather tired last night and became a bit of a Karen in the Sainsburys last night. To be fair I did not shout at anyone, I was more of a 'Victor Meldrew' . For those over the pond/over seas he is a character on British tv who moans all the time. One foot in the grave is I think the title.

I do not often go to the big Sainsburys but anyway, they now have those self service things for trolleys (so you can put all your shopping there while you scan it through. It said for trolleys only so I took it at it's word! Moaning on about no non trolley places. A guy told me I could used it. Then I tried to put a single fennel through but apparently had to weigh it first. He took it off for me so he could weigh it which was nice as it said it was £5 but went down to £0.89. Then on the way out I was moaning to myself about having to scan the barcode at the entrance (that is to stop shop lifters. Don't know why I was so moany, just tired I guess and I now hate food shopping because you can never ever get everything you want in one store.

On the good side I got a swordfish steak and other fish. Just wish I could get a red cabbage! They have one locally in the greengrocer but it is huge! I like it in salads but hate it cooked (like litmus paper!!).

Anyone else feel the joy sucked out of shopping now? I suppose I am lucky that I only shop for myself so no demands from others "but we always have shepherds pie on Monday!!!"

Oh we had this happen at DD1's graduation. They had two ceremonies and she sent me tickets for the second but forgot to send them for the first until the night before. When she went to send them to me around midnight, the website was down. We ended up having to do it on the phone in the Uber on the way to the ceremony, and in the end DH (who arrived separately with the rest of the family) just basically blagged his way in.

The next day we turned up for the second ceremony, and the barcodes weren't accepted but they just let us in anyway.

NOT what we needed!

bizzey · 21/07/2023 19:13

Oh wow ZZTop that sounds so stressful!!

Busy day for me today !

Had eyelash tint, collected dress from dry cleaner, collected stuff for mum from the doctors ....and got got new glasses 🤓🤓🤓!!

All I need to do now is decide on which scarf/shawl I am going to wear next week and then organise the returns for the 100 million other ones I ordered as it was hard to tell if they would work with the colour/texture from the photos .

Weather forecast is still all over the place for next week ...and ji am going to be on the coast where I notice the breeze compared to the city smog !!

Silkierabbit · 21/07/2023 21:53

Had meeting re education or lack of it today and appears some progress maybe being made. There are talks again with school we wanted involving Head of School and Head of Education at LA as well as 2 from before, the Head of Education is the big boss. No idea when it's just a mainstream school with asd base why this is so difficult but they are now saying by end of summer should have place for September, they are now saying gcse year but that is fine, past caring about that.

Feeling absolutely shattered past few days, not entirely sure why but dh the same, likely lack of sleep, dragged ourselves to pool, had coffee there before going in then swam 88 lengths for me and 60 for dh and went in sauna and felt better after. Floof very cuddly today. Weather forecast looks very rainy over next 2 weeks but that makes it easier with ds not leaving house, less painful to stay in. It's rain or 48C in Europe atm.

HelenaJustina · 21/07/2023 22:09

Shattering last day to finish a long final week of term. But since getting home from
work, have dusted, polished, hoovered and am prepped for overnight guests arriving tomorrow and have a g&t on the go now. Busy weekend ahead, so really looking forward to no alarm call on Monday morning.

MissConductUS · 21/07/2023 23:58

That's great news Silkie, and fab that you have the LA head of education involved. It's amazing to me how up to now they've had nothing but excuses as to why they can't provide a suitable education to your DS. That's why they exist.

Helena, your industry and energy never cease to amaze me.

I worked from home today as I had a telehealth appointment and had no place to do it privately at work since they are still mitigating the water damage in my office. It was a fortunate decision, as they closed one lane on a road I need to get to work that previously was fine in both directions. I'm scouring Facebook to find out what they're doing and how long it will take.

I bought an iPad Generation Nine (the older model Apple is still selling) on Amazon on Prime Day for the amazing price of $249. They usually are $329 and almost never discounted, so I had fun last night setting it up. Everything transferred over from my iPhone, so much less faff than it used to be. It's a nice upgrade from my Kindle, which has been slow and tends to freeze up a lot.
