I'll join you in the glass of fizzy elderflower Silkie - congrats on the scan being fine.

Planted some lavender this evening- was so lovely to be out in the garden.

sproutsandparsnips · 05/04/2023 23:14

Gosh Halfpasteleven it has been terrible weather here today!
Could not see what was going on, not sure how the referee did either! Looks like it's snow for mum in April - is that unusual?

Drove back from London this afternoon. Managed to park the car for just £11 for two days, then got the tube in. The train for DH and me would have been almost £200. So chuffed!

I managed to get a whole conversation out of my quirky/quiet/introverted DS when we got back. An actual miracle.

Catsmere · 06/04/2023 01:57

I just booked Cat 1 for her vaccinations and six month checkup (she’s 8, so gets a twice yearly check).

NancyJoan · 06/04/2023 10:12

School holiday jobs today. DS has been to the dentist and hairdresser already. I’m going to get my nails done later then we’ll both be presentable for the weekend.

bizzey · 06/04/2023 17:23

I have had no DC's in my house since yesterday !

Wonderful feeling..
Alexa on loud ..
Big sort out , without it having to be finished at a certain time for them to come home ...

No stress ...just plodding along on what I need to to do ...in my own time !

DC 3 bought me an Alexa as a Christmas present year or so ago ...
My best present ever !!

MissConductUS · 06/04/2023 18:50

Welcome, @Catsmere, and thanks for sharing your feline medical news. My cats started their twice a year checks at age 10. They're currently 12 and 13. They are indoor only cats, as we have coyotes in the area.

And speaking of wildlife, another duck couple has arrived at the reservoir. Mr Crane has them under close observation.

@sproutsandparsnips the last time I remember snow in the city was around 10 years ago on April 1st of all days! We continue to get snow on the local mountains, though. It's about 5 degrees cooler up there even though it's maybe a 10-15 minute drive up.

Silkierabbit · 06/04/2023 20:43

Lavender is lovely Half Not got scan results yet but was just to check I have right blood vessels for reconstruction op or something like that so not a scary scan. And they said it was almost certain before I would do.

Weather looks dicey there Sprouts Hope it's improved.

Lovely crane MissC A most magnificent creature.

A quite dull day of nothing much here. We have agreed leave of Fri to Mon for DS then Wed to Saturday as I have a reunion dinner at university I can take DH too that Sat 15th. I also phoned the one special school that could have a place, apparently they only offer if ds goes round and says he wants it. He was growling about it getting louder. The la are refusing mainstream plus support. Plus discharge is psychiatrist who prescribed wrong drug. Argh. And still no date though appears we can have him 6 days a week and keep the lovely hospital psychiatrist. Seems ridiculous as it must be costing 5k a week or so for 1 night. 🙀

Cute photo of rabbit and Floof together. Floof is so trilly atm.

HelenaJustina · 07/04/2023 10:22

Spent time after yesterday’s Mass watching at the Altar of Repose, got home at 11:30pm so late start to Good Friday here. It will be a very low key day, particularly until after 3pm Mass.

mathanxiety · 07/04/2023 18:26

We're having some lovely weather here today after an intensive storm earlier in the week that lasted no more than seven minutes but resulted in many downed trees, some knocked out of the ground, some with trunks snapped in half.

Next week we will see almost summery weather. I'm going to put a good few of my wintering over plants out on my deck over the Easter weekend, and it's time to find the humming bird feeder and dust it off. They should be back at the end of April.

DS found small boneless lamb roasts at Costco, so we'll have a traditional lamb and rosemary based dinner at Easter. I still need to buy potatoes. The kitchen looks as if a herd of wildebeest rampaged through it after DD4 did a lot of baking and dinner cooking recently, so I'll be rolling up my sleeves at the crack of dawn on Saturday and not getting much rest all day..

My parish church opened its doors to parishioners from a neighboring parish whose church roof was damaged during the storm, so it's been standing room only for the Easter week ceremonies so far..

sproutsandparsnips · 07/04/2023 19:50

Helena, sounds lovely and peaceful.
I have not been to church today, though I may go to the Easter vigil tomorrow and will go on Sunday.
Silkie it all sounds very stressful for you and wasteful of resources by the hospital.
Hope all ok Prok.

Lemonsandlemonade · 07/04/2023 20:33

Silkie sometimes I read your posts and think what a bonkers world we live in.

Sounds a lovely day Helena.

I had fish pie for tea as it’s Good Friday. I have felt drawn to going to church for the first time in a long time.

Prok Hope you’re ok.

DS managed to climb the rope ladder of the slide in the park today. Was a very proud mummy.

Echobelly · 07/04/2023 21:40

We ended up hosting both nights of the Passover meal Weds and Thurs - tired but on the upside we now have tonnes of leftover food that will get us through a few days of what can be tricky eating.

Tomorrow going into town to hunt for a dining table after slightly disappointing visit to John Lewis todaywhere we didn't quite like the tables we'd seen online 'in person' (and one other one sounded from reviews like it had issues of being damaged easily, and we are not a careful household!)

Catsmere · 07/04/2023 22:19

Thank you, @MissConductUS ! My two are also strictly indoor only. We don’t have coyotes in Oz but we do have council rangers and busy roads where I live - not that I’d let my babies roam anyway.

Those are lovely photos!

MissConductUS · 08/04/2023 01:16

@Echobelly, hosting for two nights in a row sounds exhausting. Did you have a lot of guests to feed? My experience with furniture shopping is also that it really needs to be done in person.

Prok, our thoughts and prayers are with you. You are still a part of this thread even if it's a struggle for you to post.

Lemons, I have not made it to church for Good Friday. I'll go for the early service on Easter, but I doubt DH will feel the need. I don't care for most fish dishes, so we had homemade pizza for Good Friday dinner. Well done to your son for climbing the rope ladder. You should be a very proud mummy. How old is he now?

@Catsmere, it's so cool that you're from Oz. This thread spans the globe now - all over Europe, both coasts of North America, and now OZ as well! Do you have local laws against letting cats roam? Thank you for your kind words about the photos. I need to upgrade my phone at some point this year. The new ones have much better cameras than my iPhone 11.

DH and DS have taken over responsibility for Easter dinner. It'll be glazed, uncured ham, scalloped potatoes au gratin with Gruyère cheese, and baby peas.

I love the way forums are international!

Yes, we do have local laws against cats roaming. Some localities it’s 24/7, others not. I just wish more people would take heed, for the cats’ safety as much as the small animals and birds they hunt. Mine have all been indoor cats for about fifteen years or so.

Upgrading from an iPhone 11! I just re-upgraded to a refurbished XR! 😆 Been using an 8 for a few years because dear Telstra claimed it would get better signal where I lived in Queensland. Surprise surprise, they were lying through their teeth. Hell, their signal is crap everywhere, major cities included.

That Easter dinner sounds tasty!

KaleFairy · 08/04/2023 05:44

I did stat reporting for last year at work today. Some were quite good, some were closer to 2021, none bad. Had a small urgent crisis but the whole team responded really well and solved it.

Lost a bit of weight on my diet but had two slices of pizza (margherita mmm) and scraps from a cake I ruined so tomorrow's weigh in might be a bummer.

Prepped several recipes for tomorrow (including the ruined cake) hopefully everything else turns out much better!

Echobelly · 08/04/2023 08:46

@MissConductUS - luckily not huge numbers of people. I'd offered 2nd night to my family as 1st night is usually claimed by MIL for a huge meal, but she later asked if we minded if they came to us for a small 1st night (just my family and them) as she has already hosted one huge family dinner for a celebration and has another coming up in summer, and that seemed fair enough. And as second night was only 9 people, it wasn't too big a deal. We have done up to 20 guests in the past.

It was good having a brief 1st night, as usually you use up all your energy and the 2nd one is an afterthought, but this time that was more the main event and the first time since pre covid, and maybe longer, I'd had a full seder with my family.

NancyJoan · 08/04/2023 12:35

Good morning. It’s my birthday today, have had hot cross buns in bed, and a bath. Table booked at an Italian for a late lunch and the sun is shining.

MissConductUS · 08/04/2023 13:27

Welcome, @KaleFairy, and thanks for sharing your stats news. Well done to you and your team. I weigh myself most days, but being up or down a pound or two is pretty normal. I also had two slices of pizza last night, but I did not eat the crusts.

Echo, I have never been to a seder but would love to someday. Nine guests to feed is a lot! Even with the leaves in my dining room table only seats ten.

Happy birthday, @NancyJoan! Hot cross buns sound fab. I'm about to go do some shopping at the warehouse club and the posh Italian supermarket. I suspect the later will have some in their bakery department.

It's cold but sunny here. The landscapers came this week and did our spring cleanup and the yard looks so much better.

MissConductUS · 08/04/2023 23:04

The Italian supermarket did not have dinner rolls. I think their bakery was overwhelmed making Easter cakes, pies, and cupcakes. I found a bag of baby carrots in various colors, so I got those for dinner tomorrow.

There's a restaurant about a mile down the road from us that we frequently get takeaways from. It's good pub food, mostly. They had a fire in their kitchen this morning. No one was hurt, but traffic was a mess. I hope they aren't closed for very long.

DH took the lawnmower to the shop to have it serviced.

Happy Easter to those who are reading this on Sunday!

Happy Birthday Nancy Hope you had a lovely day.

Thinking of you @Prokupatuscrakedatus and hope you are OK.

Have a lovely Easter Sunday everyone.

We have DS home for the 4 days which is lovely, his rabbit has been sitting on him whilst he ipads. He's eating and drinking well here, sleeping fine and calm but too scared to leave home still.

Floof is very trilly and also keeps lying across the whole of one stair to downstairs, he's about 1 metre 10 now and stretches himself across whole step.

We had fish and chips for dinner from the fish and chips shop with some baked beans. DS loves fish and chips.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 09/04/2023 00:59

@Silkierabbit I'm glad your ds is with you for Easter. 🥰
@Echobelly sounds like a successful seder! Good for you cooking for 9! Happy Passover. 😊
@Prokupatuscrakedatus also wondering about you. Hoping things are ok.
@NancyJoan Happy birthday! 🎂
I've been indulging with choco chip hot cross buns. 😛

Havoc had first Easter egg hunt and first haircut this weekend. Both went well.
I cooked salmon and prawns for Good Friday dinner last night. Making ravioli tonight with ricotta and crab. Dough is waiting to be rolled out. Must look into buying a pasta machine. I hear it's 2023 now...
