NC’d for this as very outing but been here a long time!!

We are going on holiday on Monday to a large holiday home, we have invited 17 people, a mix from both mine and DH’s side, including both sets of grandparents…

It seemed like a fun and nice thing to do at the time but the closer we are getting the more I’m starting to think oh shit, what have we done!!!!

In the mix we have a some very strong feminists, A no shits given, straight talking lady with a slight alcohol problem, a camp chain smoking gay person, an autistic child, a grandad with a knack for inappropriate jokes and a couple with no sense of humour who like to talk about the past all the time and hate things being out of their control.

I love them all dearly but we are going to live to regret this for the rest of our lives aren’t we?!

Well it sounds like it will be an interesting trip if nothing else!

PolkaDotMankini · 25/03/2023 07:50

How long are you going for? Presumably you're not spending every minute together as a pack, so if it gets dreadful you can escape for a romantic dinner or something. It sounds great though!

Needmorelego · 25/03/2023 07:52

Take notes and the whole thing could be turned into a novel/sitcom/Oscar winning film.

Harebrain · 25/03/2023 08:07

It sounds wonderful. Do you have room for one more? 🤞

slowquickstep · 25/03/2023 08:10

Sounds fantastic. Make sure you take popcorn.

CrystalCoco · 25/03/2023 08:11

Pretend to yourself that you're filming a 'fly-on-the-wall' type documentary and reporting back to MM after the trip.

If you know you'll be re-telling the antics at a later date you can be slightly removed from the drama and see it from a more humorous outsiders pov.

Wisteriaroundthedoor · 25/03/2023 08:13

I suspect you are Really excited hence this post

Redebs · 25/03/2023 08:14

Apart from the smoking, it will be fiiiiiiine!

frozendaisy · 25/03/2023 08:14

You need a vegan or two.

A moody teenager.

Ragwort · 25/03/2023 08:15

Can't imagine anything worse, you must be a saint .. but people must like you, and each other, to have accepted the invitation?

Please update us after the weekend.

Fireyflies · 25/03/2023 08:19

Sounds ..... Challenging? On a serious note I'd make a plan and some rules for things that are likely to cause conflict - are people expecting you to stock the fridge and cook for everyone? Would it make sense to declare a topic or two to be banned if they're likely to spark a major row? Smoking outdoors only I assume.

Hawkins00 · 25/03/2023 08:20

Certainly keeps it intriguing op

Tick and tick again, got both of these covered!!! 😬🌿

Out of that lot it is the autistic child I hope is looked out for. Could be overwhelming and a child so less possible to get away for a walk or drive.

Will be interesting OP!

EmbracingTheEyeBags · 25/03/2023 08:30

Sounds hilarious already 😂😂

Chateaulaohshit · 25/03/2023 08:35

My husband was awarded the holiday through work and apparently all food is included as well activity’s such as woodwork, meditation and art classes. We are also organising a family friendly hen do for one family member, a music quiz and an Easter egg hunt and lots of board games being brought.

I don’t want to be the forced fun guy but felt we needed some things to keep it from being awkward.

We are there Monday to Friday.

I would love a play by play for the good and bad moments. This sounds like the best holiday ever for memories! If in doubt just drink lots of wine?

ToDoListAddict · 25/03/2023 08:55

Is it a free holiday for everyone? Sounds like an amazing opportunity with the free food and activities planned so your guests would be crazy to cause dramas and potentially miss out on doing something like this again.
That being said, people are unpredictable 🤣

Hope you all have an amazing time!

whateverwillbewillbewontit · 25/03/2023 08:58

It sounds like an episode of Big Brother!

The fact that it's a large house is a good thing. Hopefully there's plenty of living space so that people aren't squashed together. You might find that people will gravitate toward the people they get on with best anyway and that in the interests of peace, there won't be any arguments.

I'm sure it'll be fine! Enjoy!

WomanStanleyWoman2 · 25/03/2023 09:01

Why does this feel like a description of a film that should end with “…and hilarity ensues”?

I did say to to DH that we might come away from this week with certain family members thinking I have serious problems with my wine intake!!! 😂

You'll have anecdotes to tell your friends for years!

FirstnameSuesecondnamePerb · 25/03/2023 09:32

Pack a bottle of wine for each pair of knickers you pack

wibblewobbleball · 25/03/2023 09:35

Don't forget - it's not your job to keep everyone happy, police what others say, or ensure anyone enjoys their holiday. That's on them. Just try to relax and enjoy your holiday.

BitOutOfPractice · 25/03/2023 09:39

Well if anyone drops out, Tim know where I am op!
