What have we done!!

NC’d for this as very outing but been here a long time!!

We are going on holiday on Monday to a large holiday home, we have invited 17 people, a mix from both mine and DH’s side, including both sets of grandparents…

It seemed like a fun and nice thing to do at the time but the closer we are getting the more I’m starting to think oh shit, what have we done!!!!

In the mix we have a some very strong feminists, A no shits given, straight talking lady with a slight alcohol problem, a camp chain smoking gay person, an autistic child, a grandad with a knack for inappropriate jokes and a couple with no sense of humour who like to talk about the past all the time and hate things being out of their control.

I love them all dearly but we are going to live to regret this for the rest of our lives aren’t we?!

So we have a very clear divide in party members between my side and DH’s, mine being a lot rowdier and with a much lower bar for acceptable drinking times!!

The most stressful thing so far has been the dogs, two from one family and our own and they are are not getting on at all and really scrapping if they are in the same room, we are having to keep them separate but with kids running about leaving doors open and the way the house is set out it’s been really hard!

There has been a bit of passive aggressive comments on the day time drinking, people trying to moderate it with nippy comments and rolling eyes at all the empties.

DH lost his shit at all the people that foolishly signed theirselves up for Yoga and meditation and were still in their beds at 9am when the instructor arrived.

D (gay) F has been moving furniture about, taken over all the food prep and swearing like a trooper and told an elder member of the party that “if he had to pick another one of their bastarding tissues again of the living room floor it would be the last think they fucking did!!” thankfully it was taken on surprisingly good humour.

One of the younger members tried to make a cheese toastie on the aga and didn’t think they need to use a plate on the hot rings so that involved quite a clean up…

Two relatives are downstairs whittling in their wood work class and DH has taking himself away fly fishing and I’m hoping Devon the very rugged and handsome games keeper might come back with some more logs for us!

A handsome game keeper? Well that certainly opens up plenty of possibilities in the murder mystery narrative. Is there any chance of things going a bit Lady Chatterly?

It's Monday to Friday, isn't it? So just one more overnight to get through.
