NC’d for this as very outing but been here a long time!!

We are going on holiday on Monday to a large holiday home, we have invited 17 people, a mix from both mine and DH’s side, including both sets of grandparents…

It seemed like a fun and nice thing to do at the time but the closer we are getting the more I’m starting to think oh shit, what have we done!!!!

In the mix we have a some very strong feminists, A no shits given, straight talking lady with a slight alcohol problem, a camp chain smoking gay person, an autistic child, a grandad with a knack for inappropriate jokes and a couple with no sense of humour who like to talk about the past all the time and hate things being out of their control.

I love them all dearly but we are going to live to regret this for the rest of our lives aren’t we?!

You must give updates throughout the weekend!

Iccle · 25/03/2023 16:29

Love this! I can imagine as the organiser feeling “the fear” but there’s so much do, people dropping in/out doesn’t matter and whilst there may be a couple of tense moments it’ll be entertaining and such a great story/memory afterwards. Enjoy!!!

ImpossibleDrear · 25/03/2023 16:31

When we went on a difficult family holiday a few years ago, my mantra was 'everyone is going to be annoying sometimes (including me), it is up to me if it ruins my holiday or not!'

Goodread1 · 25/03/2023 16:34

At least it will certainly not be boring ,
And it will be definitely be memorable 😆 @Chateaulaohshit

Laiste · 25/03/2023 16:36

FrillyGoatFluff 😂

LookItsMeAgain · 25/03/2023 16:37

You could have a wonderful time or it could be like living through a really bad episode of Big Brother and you're one of the housemates!

Please come back and tell us how you get on, whichever way it goes.

itsgettingweird · 25/03/2023 16:38

It sounds like you need to keep us updated frequently throughout your tripGrin

Call it talking therapy and then you may feel a little less guilty about us all waiting for daily updates 🤣

LookItsMeAgain · 25/03/2023 16:39

You need a David Attenborough type voice over throughout.

Wouldn't the guy who says "It's Day Four in the Big Brother House" be more appropriate?

Reinventinganna · 25/03/2023 16:40

Take notes. It will make a great book.

FinanceLPlates · 25/03/2023 16:46

What could possibly go wrong?

Hope you have a brilliant time OP!

Anotherturnipforthebooks · 25/03/2023 16:53

All you need is a murder mystery evening and you have yourself a film script!

JaneJeffer · 25/03/2023 17:00

Can you live stream for us?

elm26 · 25/03/2023 17:02

Please set up a secret camera and send all the funny moments to us OP, I'd love to come 😂

ForestofD · 25/03/2023 17:15

Hmm. I do feel you need to be considering wine by the box not the bottle to get through this.

😉

Katiecoffee · 25/03/2023 17:18

I cant wait for the daily updates.

mackthepony · 25/03/2023 17:21

Oh yeah I've had these holidays.

Best year was when BIL and SIL brought along their third wheel Aka threesome partner for the week, with her two young sons

mackthepony · 25/03/2023 17:24

Op...

Can I ask what the food situation is?? Are you sharing the cooking?? How will the bills be split???

FIL usually did an Excel with all the contributions and deductions on it

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 25/03/2023 17:25

There should be someone who rocks up and just as you are serving dinner says “oh is there xx in this? Little Jimmy has an allergy. But it’s not diagnosed yet.”

Chateaulaohshit · 25/03/2023 17:37

@mackthepony We are still not sure, apparently all good is provided but we don’t know if that is in the form of prepared meals or just ingredients…

There is a supermarket a few miles away and everyone is bringing snacks, cheese, booze etc so it’s going to be very much find out when we get there.

Get drunk and then it’ll be fun to sit back and watch 😂

FurElise · 25/03/2023 17:48

I'd definitely invite Channel 5's documentary makers along. Sounds like a riot!

spidereggs · 25/03/2023 21:59

Ah I'm settling in for the memories and the updates.

What about dogs?

We booked and paid for it, took out two. Others then arrived with dogs, but it's dog friendly? Yes for two.

So me and mine slept in car first night, I was pre children and trying to do a nice thing.

Then we had my younger gay brother arrive into car with me, as sister wanted his room so they could rest from baby

spidereggs · 25/03/2023 22:01

So as my lovely brother and I snuggle in to car with two dogs, he tells me, he's brought his cat.

It's in the room, with sister, his room was for two he says. I still don't think I have ever ever laughed as much.

Cherrysoup · 25/03/2023 22:08

Done it a few times with 17 people. It was all fine bar one cousin telling me how terrible I was for not going to visit my parents every 6 weeks. During the day, we were busy, evenings were pub/big family meal/bbq. I’m sure you’ll have a riot!

InSpainTheRain · 25/03/2023 22:21

It sounds a nightmare to me, but you seem up for it. I'd just go out and let them organise themselves. No rules otherwise you will feel you have to police them.
