The previous thread filled up fast, so here's another one with a reasonably topical title!

Oh, they were also implicated in the ppe fasttrack contacts thing as well.

Mine (Tulip) is a fairly decent sort, not sure I can really claim her as "my" MP since I've never voted for her though. This used to be a very tight 3-way marginal, but she's now got a whacking huge majority. When the seat reverts to being Hampstead & Highgate it will become a teeny bit more marginal. I'll be in what's currently Westminster North, which is even safer for Labour.

Mine is former environment sec, voted to continue discharging sewage into our waterways and also in favour of fracking, so obviously does what he’s told. One of the safest Tory seats going so he generally sits there with a vacant smile on his face and nods along with the rest of the donkeys.

Mine has a 30 year tenure of my constituency.
He has no constituency office
He has no social media
He spends most of his time on the other side of the country
In 2019 he was voted 650th out of 650 for transparency and responsiveness to his constituents
If you write to him, it's hit and miss if you hear back.

I write probably on average barely once a year. Last time I wrote - no reply. I resent the email 3 weeks later - no reply.
I complained to CCHQ and local Conservative office. He then was forced to reply to me and said he'd been busy. Over two months after my original email.

Relying on the Lords to vote it down, cowards

The Illegal Migration Bill cleared its final stages in the House of Commons by 289 votes to 230.
Around 20 Tory MPs wanted to require court approval to detain unaccompanied children longer than three days.
But they agreed not to push the issue to a vote, after ministers pledged to work with them on a "new timescale".

Illegal Migration Bill passes as Tory rebellion defused

The government makes concessions on child detention in response to concerns from some of its own MPs.

Whenever I see that title I read it illegal migrant bill with the word illegal referring to the bill. Probably not the only one on here doing that

RafaistheKingofClay · 27/04/2023 20:15

As I think cleverly proved this morning on sky news the migrants aren’t illegal so it can only apply to the bill itself being illegal.
