The previous thread filled up fast, so here's another one with a reasonably topical title!

God alive, they must think we're stupid. It's a vote catcher before May local elections.
I. Do. Not. Believe. Their. Figures

Trouble is, people will believe it.

And stupid Suella banging on to Susannah about being proud that it will be highest numbers ever... well it could be just one over couldn't it?
And as PPs have said, not experienced police and what about the last 10 years.

I read somewhere that 94% of burglaries across UK are unsolved. Anyone who has been burgled knows how traumatic it is. My DD was burgled... great muddy footprints everywhere, stuff thrown around, she felt awful. Luckily she's over it, but it was horrible. There was just not the manpower for anyone to come out, it was brushed off like it was nothing by the police.

The Minister on the radio this evening was happy to agree that the actual increase in police numbers was 3,500, and not 20,000. But was at pains to point out that this is the highest ever and it doesn't matter that the population of the UK has increased in that time because crime is down.
(Is crime down because it is pointless reporting it?).
Also the Minister doesn't agree with 30p who thinks the Met Police commisioner shouldn't have a job in the police.

"What does "come from and live in the communities they serve" mean do you think?"
Maybe we should apply the same to MPs.

Yes please.

We could then get rid of Braverman back to where her actually owned property is 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤣

RafaistheKingofClay · 26/04/2023 18:25

My MP is local. He’s still a dick who has no problem with sewage being pumped into local rivers or onto local beaches.

Piggywaspushed · 26/04/2023 18:26

My MP is still Nadine.

Just to remind you all.

DuncinToffee · 26/04/2023 18:35

Mine is the current chancellor, but only until the boundary change kicks in. Haven't received any Tory or Labour leaflets, just LIb Dems and the Local party.

Jourdain11 · 26/04/2023 18:50

Mine is Tulip Siddiq, but only till the boundaries change. After that it should be Karen Buck (Queen's Park and Little Venice) and apparently Labour have a 100% chance of winning so I doubt the Tories will even bother to mobilise 😃

Nadine must have some qualities. My MP despite being an ardent Brexit loon hasn't managed to get a ministerial job even in Boris' summer of desperation. What does that say about him? #dklemon

AdamRyan · 26/04/2023 19:40

I have Liam Fox. Who is not looking so bad recently which goes to show how awful the rest are.

Mimosa08 · 26/04/2023 19:54

My MP is Bridgen.
He is loathed by the local CP they still vote for him though
The last Labour candidate was excellent and reduced his majority by about 4000 in 2019
Normally I'd say it would split the vote, it won't in this case
It was funny really...in 2019 he has to drive his own campaign hoarding around 🤣

Fladdermus · 26/04/2023 20:03

I have Alok Sharma. Not seen hide nor hair of him for at least a year. I wrote to him to express my disgust at changes to the ministerial code and got a stock reply answering my question about parties in Downing Street that I never asked. Good job I'm now timed out of voting or have they changed the 15 year rule yet?

At least you get a reply.

Braverman doesn't bother responding but yet always posts how many emails they e responded to.

I'd quite like to know how many they haven't.

I can start with 5!

Jourdain11 · 26/04/2023 20:12

Eeeek, am I the only person on here who has a Labour MP?

Piggywaspushed · 26/04/2023 20:13

I try to pretend. Half a mile up the road is a very nice one.

Piggywaspushed · 26/04/2023 20:14

Nadine must have some qualities

Nope. Definitely not.

newnamethanks · 26/04/2023 20:28

I won't identify my Tory MP as, when I wrote to him complaining about Johnson's obnoxious behaviour he replied agreeing with me. I was more than surprised. He'll be gone next election.

pointythings · 26/04/2023 20:44

Mine is Jungle Matt, who is more invisible right now than an invisible man wearing an invisibility cloak and using a Star Trek cloaking device.

Mine is an ERG nutter with a huge majority here.
He does reply to my missives , but he isn't going anywhere I bet.
He gets a lot of criticism locally, but I honestly can't see any real upset in the next election.

dontcallmelen · 26/04/2023 20:51

I have an excellent Labour MP, but boundary changes are a worry as I’m surrounded by true blue donkey rosette territory.

We have a 3 way possibility. Stephen Hammond (he of the recent lions led by donkeys fake South Korean firm) has tiny majority of 628. We had Labour MP during Blair but LibDems always bullish despite not ever having a Liberal MP of any variety.

Think Hammond likely for the high jump despite not being that appalling (except still being Tory) and lives very much locally.

tobee · 26/04/2023 21:28

Looking at Wikipedia I'm amused to see the first MP for the constituency was called Cosmo Bonsor, a Conservative, in 1885

Blossomtoes · 26/04/2023 21:41

Mine’s absolutely hated in the constituency. I think he might be deselected after the next election. It used to be the safest Tory seat in the country but he’s squandered the majority.

L1ttledrummergirl · 26/04/2023 21:56

Mine is so disliked in the constituency that someone (not me), sent faeces to her constituency office. I've never seen it open.

Having requested I gave my last description deleted, I'll leave this here before I overshare and out myself again.
