What was/is your annual pay rise?

PayRiseQuestion · 22/03/2023 18:33

We were told our annual pay rise last week and I've been stewing on it ever since.

Ours is based on performance so the better we are, the more we get.

I've got 2%. No idea how this compares with colleagues.

During a cost of living crisis where food inflation is 18% and overall is 10%, I feel this is a ridiculous increase but from previous pay rises at other companies, it's probably only a little below average as they take advantage.

So, if you don't mind me asking, what % did you get if you were lucky to get one.

Name change as I am paranoid of being outed at work.

8%, a £500 bonus and a one off £500 cost of living payment.

mynameiscalypso · 22/03/2023 18:38

11%. I was massively surprised as I work for a charity but they've really prioritised pay rises this year as so many staff are struggling.

GoodChat · 22/03/2023 18:38

6% across the board at my company.

6%

Fireyflies · 22/03/2023 18:39

4%

Whendovescry03 · 22/03/2023 18:40

I was offered 7% but asked for 14% and managed to get it. I'm feeling quite pleased with myself! I know many others got between 7-9%.

Crazymadchickenlady · 22/03/2023 18:40

5%

TheMildManneredMilitant · 22/03/2023 18:41

2 % or thereabouts. Civil service.

Overthebow · 22/03/2023 18:41

8%. Average for our company was 6% but our amounts were also based on performance so I got above average.

Howmanysleepsnow · 22/03/2023 18:41

5%. It was going to be 7% for everyone but I negotiated it down for higher paid so the lower paid majority (who I manage!) could get 10%. We couldn’t afford that across the whole team and they’ll be hardest hit.

JennyDarlingRIP · 22/03/2023 18:42

4% but have had pay freeze for the previous eleven years

jay55 · 22/03/2023 18:43

Nothing. I doubt it will go up with my next contract but I'm already on 100k so not complaining.

FannythePinkFlamingo · 22/03/2023 18:44

Not had it yet, but I've already seen the budget so unless things change it will be in the region of 4%. I did have 10% last year so 4% will be a little disappointing. I did get a £500 bonus at Xmas though too.

Lollypop701 · 22/03/2023 18:44

Ranged from 2 to 5% at mine. the only way to get a big increase now is to move companies unfortunately and some industries are doing better than others.

MajorCarolDanvers · 22/03/2023 18:45

5% this year
3% last year
0% the previous 3 years

There will be a ton of redundancies soon though.

Work for a charity

AgnesNaismith · 22/03/2023 18:45

5% which I was pleased with until I read this thread!

ItsTimeToWine · 22/03/2023 18:46

3% but I have a student loan and pension so in real terms vv little as I have to pay more in.

I hope mine is something like that. I work for a charity too and we are getting our rises early this year, first one for me so I don't know what they are normally like. We'll find out by the end of the month what we are getting. I think they are back paying it from January too 🤞

MoonBase · 22/03/2023 18:48

6% is what I have been told
Nothing in writing soon

Some of my team who I manage are getting between 7.5 and 8.5%

Ihatebloodycocomelon · 22/03/2023 18:49

Who are these companies you all work for??? I just started a new job. In my last company I got 4.5% altogether over a 6 year period! Hopefully my new company will do better than that!

februarysunset · 22/03/2023 18:49

5.5%

Eve · 22/03/2023 18:50

2%

PerfectYear321 · 22/03/2023 18:51

This thread is giving me hope. I'm coming up to my first year at this company. No idea if they're going to offer a rise

emmathedilemma · 22/03/2023 18:51

We won’t find out until next week. On the bbc news this morning they reckoned 7% was average in the private sector and 5% for public sector. I’d be delighted with either of those tbh! I got an annual bonus that will be almost a month’s salary after tax deductions.
