Do you know any adult who still does that?

One of my friends and his brother still walk the stairs in their house on all four.

They're both in their mid twenties.

They seem to think it's completely normal and everyone does that!

Is it?

Have a slash standing up. I have the aim of a sniper.

All fours on the stairs going up depends on the level of liquid intake. No chance of making it back down again.

Yes I go up on all fours. Have done all my life.
I'm 33.

Why though????

Sweetomine · 21/03/2023 22:36

Thank you all for your responses!

They are really interesting!

Reminds me of a thread created a year or two ago about a tradition that involved yelling halfway through cutting your birthday cake. Half thought it was completely normal and half were super weirded out

I know I always used to do this and I'm trying to think why I don't any more...I've decided it's because these days I'm usually carry a glass of water or cup of coffee which wouldn't really really work 😂

I seem to remember it's quite satisfying to bang each stair as you up too 😂

What do you mean? Yelling what?

Just screaming while cutting the cake

Men who admit to sitting down to wee make me flinch.. Urgh....

See this for me is the opposite!! Why wouldn't you sit down wee (like us). Less chance of mess (I guess depends on length...) and to me makes more sense GrinGrin

DuckonaBike · 21/03/2023 16:54

Yes I sometimes do this. It’s actually much easier than walking up on just your hind legs.

I am 50 and completely normal.

Hind legs? How many legs do you have??!!!

Sarahcoggles · 22/03/2023 00:42

I’m baffled at going down stairs on all fours. I’m not sure I could actually do that, I think I’d fall forwards

davegrohll · 22/03/2023 01:04

The only time I do that is if I'm hungover or massively pregnant. Why anyone would do it on a day to day basis is just barmy wtf

SunsetStrip · 22/03/2023 01:27

I used to do this all the time, I've just realised I don't do it so much anymore, no idea why. I'm 55.

I've no idea why anyone would care whether someone else does this tbh.

inloveandmarried · 22/03/2023 02:11

I do this a few times a day. It never occurred to me it wasn't normal, as it's my normal.

I'm dyspraxic and it makes getting up stairs quickly much easier as there is more contact with surface. I can't do it coming down though I'd fall headfirst.

piesforever · 22/03/2023 06:51

Weird but the stairs thing sounds fun. And some men find it more comfy and easier to wee sitting down, they are not bothering you so stop being so mean.

ShowOfHands · 22/03/2023 07:26

BellePeppa · 21/03/2023 22:00

Absolutely, but it would never have crossed my mind to do it. Seems like more work than just walking up (if you don’t have any disabilities).

It being more work isn't the point for me. I don't live my life doing the least work possible or there'd never be any whimsy at all.

It's just fun.

Fair enough. It just wouldn’t have occurred to me to do it anymore than walking backwards around the house (although I’ve heard that’s good exercise). Nowt to do with me if people crawl up the stairs if it’s fun, we all need to find fun in our day 🙂

GreyCarpet · 22/03/2023 07:53

I'm 48. I still do it on occasion.

Sometimes it's just 'fun' to scamper up the stairs like a 4 year old and sometimes it's because my back hurts 🤷🏻‍♀️

WhatNoRaisins · 22/03/2023 07:53

Sorry what? Yelling while cutting a birthday cake?

BreviloquentBastard · 22/03/2023 09:09

Haha I love this thread, the polarity of people going "this is completely normal" and those going "are you all aliens?" is great.

I still do this, always did as a child, never stopped. I remember my husband's look of absolute bafflement the first time he caught me galloping up the stairs on hands and feet. My 15 year old daughter also does it and always has. My husband thinks he lives with mad women.

IhearyouClemFandango · 22/03/2023 10:03

I wouldn't come down the stairs on all 4s however

hot2trotter · 22/03/2023 11:19

Not that, but I often go downstairs on my bum like my two youngest children - they think it's hilarious.

IVbumble · 22/03/2023 11:20

Can I ask the scamperers: what about carpet?

My stairs are bare but I feel I need professional advice before I give it a go.

You mean a luxury scamper?

My son does- only because he's got a willy piercing and can have twin streams....😁

slamfightbrightlight · 22/03/2023 12:34

Hands and knees I have no issues with but seeing adults on hands and toes makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I’ve no idea why! It’s almost a primal response. There was an advert or music video or performance not to long ago where people were dancing on all fours and I had to look away 😆

That's going on my list of "things I would never in a million years tell my mother about" (if I had a penis).
