Thanks for the new thread.

That DM article is proper chilling.

IClaudine · 08/03/2023 15:19

I think we have seen this before on these threads but am just parking it here for future reference for the why don't they claim asylum in France brigade. Also, seeing Gullis getting his arse handed to him never gers old.

That could be problematic for them. They will have us all starve, homeless and unemployed but hey, no boats!

IClaudine · 08/03/2023 18:50

Turnips for tea, then. And breakfast. And lunch. 😋😋😋

DuncinToffee · 08/03/2023 18:58

Leaving the ECHR would also breach the GFA, not good for the Windsor Framework and the US relationship

In the club with Russia and Belarus.

You'd be so lucky. If every bit of farmable land was given over to turnip growing there'd only be enough turnips for one meal a day. But seeing as Britain's largest turnip grower says 'when they're gone, they're gone' as they haven't planted the next crop due to lack of pickers, you might want to go to eating every other day.

Thank God for John Crace, an outpost of reason in an increasingly deranged world.

Yesterday was Stop the Boats, today's red meat was lefty teachers are teaching students to be sexual deviants, what is Rishi going to chuck out tomorrow to keep the loyal right wingers frothing?

DuncinToffee · 08/03/2023 19:49

I am watching BBC 2 Back in Time Birmingham. It is 1976, a recession and the rise of the National Front.

I missed that, what is it about this time?

Saucery · 08/03/2023 19:51

It’s quite stomach churning, isn’t it @DuncinToffee ? I really felt for the family having to scrub that off the window. I’d have been tempted to tell the production company I wasn’t prepared to do that because it’s not History, it’s happening now.

DuncinToffee · 08/03/2023 19:58

Yes it was Saucery

Rishi is going to investigate RSE in schools because schools are apparently teaching people things that will make them safer.

All a bit clause 28 innit?

But from memory that was very popular with the tory base?

That's what all this "far right garnish" is for...keep the members and erg happy. Fuck the country.

Notonthestairs · 08/03/2023 20:25

More corruption.

NEW: The Tory MP who chairs the health select committee lobbied the NHS Chief Exec and ministers on behalf of a company paying him £1,600 a month.

Steve Brine told Michael Gove in February 2021 he had been “trying for months” to get work for his employer.

Brine could have broken two sets of lobbying rules — the Cabinet Office Business Appointment Rules and the MPs’ Code of Conduct.

He was told specifically by ACOBA he should not use “Government and/or Whitehall contacts…to secure business on behalf of Remedium Partners”.

I've always really rated Suzanna. I commented a few threads ago how she disappointed me on one interview because she's usually really good - link today - at getting through to hard facts and yearning through the rhetoric.

DuncinToffee · 08/03/2023 20:34

I watched a bit about the book ban in Florida schools and can't help thinking it would be quite popular under this government and certain sections on MN.

Is there any solid evidence that the school was teaching that there are 70 genders and about choking? It all seems to be hearsay.

If kids are going to be taught about sex, I don't see that there is anything wrong with including oral and anal.

When I had sex education back in the dark ages we were only taught about the very, very basics of sex and of course did not deal with anything other than heterosexual relationships. It was hard ,(fnarr) to work out the finer details of how it all worked, let alone imagine sex could be fun.

Our sex Ed teacher was so embarrassed by it all that she couldn't even say "masturbation"
She called it "auto eroticism"
🙄

Sex is fun? What is this? It is for the sole purpose of procreating, that is all, that is all anyone should be taught.
