Hurrah for the voice of reason. Now this is the sort of person we need as Prime Minister.

Thank goodness there's a solution!

Paranoidandroidmarvin · 23/02/2023 17:32

Who knew. After I have worked ten hours a day I need to find another job and work an extra 6!!!!

CatMattress · 23/02/2023 17:33

Let them eat turnips!

Only 6 ? A little unambitious don't you think ?

I’m sure she can afford all the food she wants. Shame she has no empathy

HilaryThorpe · 23/02/2023 17:34

Dear God, 😮if Therese Coffey is the solution I hate to think what the problem is.

Thank goodness there's a solution!

I know. And as usual it took a woman to find it.

I could work all the hours I wanted, but I still wouldn't get any overtime pay!

MurderAtTheBeautyPageant · 23/02/2023 17:35

No one's posted that pic of Therese quaffing champagne and puffing on a cigar yet Sad

CoorieInByTheFire · 23/02/2023 17:36

I doubt that pig in a trough has ever done a decent day’s work in her life. Meanwhile we have people struggling to heat or eat whilst doing 2 or 3 jobs because they are victims of the ridiculous zero hour contracts.

fairgame84 · 23/02/2023 17:36

I don't get how people like her even get elected. She is the opitome of out of touch.

whatever1980 · 23/02/2023 17:40

Who looks after the kids if you're out working every hour? What with childcare being extortionate and/or non existent after core hours

blacksax · 23/02/2023 17:40

And these magic jobs are... where, exactly?

I am sick to bloody death of these fuckwitted Tories. They know sod all about what it is like for people working their fingers to the bone for NMW. They do not have a fucking clue what it is like in the real world.

avocadotofu · 23/02/2023 17:44

It's crazy how out of touch they are! And so lacking in empathy.

OldChinaJug · 23/02/2023 17:44

I'm a teacher. I work 7.30 - 6pm at school.

I've got a first class degree and an MA.

I'm not on a low income - M5 - but I'm a single parent so a single income household.

I'd like to know her solution for me.

OntarioBagnet · 23/02/2023 17:44

And what happens when all the delivery drivers, shop workers, health care support workers, carers, TAs upskill and get better paid jobs and nobody is doing those essential jobs? How about people just get paid a living wage?

No, but it has its fair share of smug bigots, as always.

NashvilleQueen · 23/02/2023 17:48

She's one of the worst for me. Prepared to say any old shite to keep her job. She's a truly awful person.

MelchiorsMistress · 23/02/2023 17:51

Obviously it’s not as simple as ‘just get another job’ but do we really have to behave as if working for a living is an outrageous suggestion?

LadyGardenersQuestionTime · 23/02/2023 17:51

So what she said was: "We know that one of the best ways for people to boost their income is not only to get into work if they are not in work already, but to work more hours or get upskilled to get a higher income."

Does she really think that this is news to people struggling? Does she think people are so stupid that they can't work this out for themselves? That we're sitting around working part time, capable of working more hours but not realising we'll get more money if we do?

Oh silly me, yes she does think we're that stupid.

Wallaw · 23/02/2023 17:53

@OldChinaJug

So you're done by 6? That gives you a half hour to get to your second job. You do a quick 6 hour NMW shift, home by, say 1:30 am, a couple hours of sleep and then off to teaching! I don't know how old your child (children?) are but getting their own meals and themselves off to school will pay dividends in self-sufficiency later! Kids today are way too pampered. And just think of the money you'll save by not having time for an evening meal.

Good thing Therese isn't such a snowflake!

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 23/02/2023 17:56

I do fucking sick of that pile of shite in power. Angry and raging at how utter shitr they are.

This and lots of jobs won't let you do another job, it will be in lots of contracts in my experience.
